Hi, I'm new to the site and wondered if anyone could help me at all. I am restoring/bobbing a 1980 XS250 and am looking for an exhaust. As far as I can tell/know, the XS400 and 250 engines are very similar. Will an XS 400 exhaust fit an 250 at all? Also, I'm going to lower the back end from 350mm which is what are on there at the mo to probably 280mm. Are the mounting sizes a universal size or will I have to buy some shocks especially for the XS250? If anyone could help me I would be very great full. Cheers, it is very much appreciated. Hi all, I signed up for the forum a while ago but thought it was about time I introduced myself. I recently swapped my '97 XV535S for an '81 XS250 and it seems I've got my work cut out for me. I've had a good look round the bike and am thinking that I need to get it running now after buying it with loads of bits missing and generally in unknown condition. Once it's had a run and I know it's salvegable then it's back to pieces for more cosmetic work and titivation - I've even got a colour scheme picked out, getting a bit ahead of myself there eh? I guess I'll have lots of questions for everyone whilst I undertake this project but I'll also try and get some pict…

Hi all new member here,I just brought a 1980 sx250 about a month ago ,been sat in some shed for 5 years ,but it started ok when I viewed it .so took it home stripped it back everything off ,rust treated it painted it cleaned the lot and now it's nearly ready to ride ,just waiting on some new bit to arrive in the post.any how but haven't touched the inside of the motor except to change the oil and tidy up some frayed wires, well up to a week ago it had compression in the kick start ,but then a couple of days later it seems to have lost compression, I haven't done a compression test on it yet but a friend said it might a stuck valve ,any other thoughts or even suggestion on…

Hi Guys, have just joined as I have a problem. Bought a US spec 1983 XS650 SK Heritage Special, and the headlamp appears too wide for the supporting "ears". This means the ears or brackets don't lie flat against the sides of the headlamp bowl, and thus the indicator stems both lean backwards. I've not seen any other XS 650's with this oddity, but there seems to be only one headlamp shell listed, albeit in Chrome or black, but all the same size with 7" glass. Looks like it needs a 6" headlamp, but none listed. Anyone help please?

hi all... thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Gollum, biker for many years, and currently own 3 Yam's (see topic title). I've arrived here in search of some bits, which were lost when the ex-wife and her boyfriend stole and sold (for scrap!) the majority of a pristine 1981 XS650 which was stripped down in the garage. I managed to track down most of the bits they took but the engine mounts had already been sold by the time my detective work led me to the scrapyard in question. so, if anyone can come to my aid, and point me in the right direction, I'll be in your debt Gollum

Hi, I have purchased a 1980 xt 500 that was brought in from Greece, I also received the customs documentation with it. I applied to get it registered but was told that it would need the age verified by the Yamaha owners club. I would be very grateful for any advice on the best way to go about it

Hi chaps, I've got round to stripping down the xt which has been left outside for many years. The main bigger was getting the swing arm out, what started as an hours job ended up being a three hour job attacking it with a grinder... But it came out. The header pipe has rotted out and stuck in the cylinder head, next challenge!, I have sent off the frame and parts off for shot blasting and painting then the collection and sourcing of new parts begins
