Just wanted to say "hi" to everyone. I currently have a honda CG125 which I have been riding for just under 2 years. I have my Direct Access starting tomorrow and I just picked up today a 2000 Yamaha Thundercat ready for when I pass my test, which hopefully will be in about 2 weeks. Im 40 and just starting out, think I'm having a mid-life crisis but can't afford a sports car Colin..

Hi my name is jag I'm from Leeds united kingdom I'm 43 iv been riding for 13 years but only on a 50cc scooter, iv recently just passed my direct access 13/12/2013,because iv been wanting to get a proper bike. Iv been looking at the xj6fa for a while because I heard its a perfect for new riders and it's a every goof locking bike too. I bought my bike new April this year and I chose a blue because I liked the colour of it,since riding my bike iv clocked 3000 miles so far and love it it's so much out on the open roads, it's so much different from a scooter. Need help identifing problem with my newly acquired motorcycle. Are there certain areas that are the best for certain bikes ?? I will be checking out the headlines and FAQ for my problems but just wanted a quick answer if possible, banging my head on the wall......So Howdy to all, didn't mean to be so right to the point, but just bought it 3 weeks ago and its already dead. or maybe not. I'm a new rider (street). From the US,, Nebraska to be exact. I like the old school, café racer style , and some that I've never heard of but very cool looking. Bought an 82 yamaha xs400 maxim last weekend. Starts easy and runs good and looks nice... But has a few issues. I'm not much of a mechanic but will be by the time it's fully restored. so far, I've just cleaned it up and changed the oil & filters .Next I got to figure out why the front brake doesn't work . I bled the master cylinder; filling the lil harbor freight bottle twice, but it only helped a little. I think I really need to find a manual. Don't want to spend $80 on flea bay and thought I might come across a free download here. This is my first visit to this site and looking forward to doing some newbie research. Thanks, Scott

Hello to the forum! I have been a rider for over 20 years. My first bike was a honda vlx 600. That started the sickness that fills most of us right the marrow of our bones... the need to ride. I have since owned a number of bikes, KZ400, KZ440 bobber (this is still in project state), Honda Shadow Sabre, and my latest aquisition, the one that brought me to the world of Yamaha ownership, my '83 Yamaha Venture Royale. I have come seeking knowledge and wisdom and to share my experiences with others infected with the two-wheel bug. Having a bike that is over 28 years old leads us to the far reaches of the internet to find the only source of information on repair and mai…

Hi all, I just registered this morning. I'm in my last year at University and I love the old Yamaha's; don't make em like they used to . I started off with my first bike being a mid 70's dt 100 many years ago, it was stolen, got it back in a bit less than good condition. Then about a year ago I got back into the bikes with a purchase of a 1973 Yamaha RT360. Sold that a couple months ago then I purchased my current bike a 1964 Yamaha YG1. Not perfect condition but not bad for being almost 50 years old. Just had a couple questions regarding oil that i posted in another section. Hope I can gain lots of knowledge from you guys. Nate

Hi all, I bought my XSR-125 last October as a way to practice for my full licence and absolutely love it. I've got many more miles to put on it - given the recent weather it's been nicely tucked away and not been out to play as much as I would like. I passed my full test last week but intend to keep the 125 for this summer and do a bit of test riding of bigger bikes. I'm not looking to buy new and my back wont like me buying anything too racy. Any suggestions for a model to review will be greatly welcome - my trainer advised I dont shy away from the bigger bikes. It will be mainly used for weekend and not commuting. thanks Mark
