Hi everyone, Thought I would rejoin this group - I was a member a long time ago (1973) when I bought my YR5F from Commerfords - which I still have! Looking for info on locating spares for the old girl as I would like to spruce her up a bit. Specifically looking for headlight glass, front mudguard, chain guard, air box & filter and air box to carb rubbers. Any leads would be appreciated, cheers John

Hi New to biking and new member to the club . Just purchased my first bike after passing my test ,Yamaha Xj6 Diversion F on 64 plate . All the reviews said it was a good first bike ,hopefully all you experienced riders will agree. I have a technical question that you may be able to help me with . My Yamaha doesn't have a gear selector indicator so i have been looking at aftermarket products . There are various on the market that say plug and play via the diagnostic lead for my model . I may be wrong but i don't think my bike has a diagnostic plug the fault codes are indicated as flash codes . i cant find anything in my Haynes manual yet when i email the s…

I have just joined this site after buying a 2001 yamaha dragster 125. Its a beautiful maroon colour and has had little use in the last 10 years. Only 1600 on the clock. Its a massive cruiser for a 125 and I love "it" I want a name and I am open for ideas. Edit DDT: please do not ask for wanted items outside of the wanted section. John R

Hi, I'm a new member with a DT100E that has been in our family for 25+ years. I spent lots of time riding it when I was a teenager (I'm 44 now) and sadly I've treated it poorly, leaving it outside for many years. I hasn't been ridden for almost 10 years. Last week I decided to strip it down to the bare frame and refurbish it from the wheels up. I'm not doing a totally "correct" restoration, but hope to transform it into a the good looking and riding machine it was 25 years ago. I'm looking forward to using this forum as a means to gather and share information and show a few pictures of the finished product when that time comes.

Well riding is done here in Wisconsin, US, except for my crazy brother who did go for a ride before our first snowfall yesterday ! My bike for now is a 1981 xs1100, have a little work to do on it over the winter. Had a good long ride last August out west of about 1800 miles. Thanks to all for their stories and knowledge , Rod J

G'day everybody. I am John ,living in New Zealand ,currently the fresh owner of a FZ 750 YAMAHA (of course) race/track bike . I picked it up for a fair price but its not meant to be getting exercise with no lights ,gauges, reg. warrant of fitness (legal cert. for use on the rd.) ,nor sound warning device(horn).I can assure all it runs as well as when new! Any way I started to read about a guy fitting FZR parts to his Fz750 and got wrapped up in the story as he went about it with an interestingly difficult approach . I have to applaude his topic, the pictures that went on it, and the tenacious application to altering stuff until a result was had. Also to his methodi…

Hi all, retired building site manager [project manager now called]. Hobbies shooting, bikes and house restoration. Just bought my first cruiser, a 2002 250cc Dragstar, had most bike in my life sports, naked etc. But the years are catching up on me bikewise so I thought I would let my head rule this time. I don't know whether I will like this type of bike but will give it a go. Just wondering if anyone has a owners/workshop manual for the bike that I can buy asap. Thanks

Hi everyone I'm a 38 year old new biker. I was on a scooter for 2 years but always wanted a 'proper bike'. I am now the owner of a YBR 125 Custom. I've only had it for 6 weeks and I bought it brand new. I am absolutely hooked. It's great on a nice day to just go out for a ride. I never did that on my scooter. I really like Yamaha and would love to own a V-max. I don't think my back could handle the sportier bikes so it's cruisers all the way. Unfortunately, every new bikers nightmare happened to me yesterday. I came off the bike for the first time since I started riding. I've been dreading it, knowing that it would one day happen to me. I think I pressed too hard on…

hi all i've recently set about the challenge of restoring a yb 100 to somewhere near it's former glory (i'd settle for running) but it's fair to say the bike is in a fairly poor state of repair and i would appreciate some advice along the lines of whether or not this is a non-starter or basically where to begin. have purchased the haynes manual and from a brief look on line i can see all the bits are available one way or another. some photos below and I should mention i also am missing the keys (!) but hey-ho... any feedback / guidance on where to begin would be much appreciated. Nick

Hello, I just wanted to introduce my self and get some feedback on my bike selection. My name is Vlady, i'm turning 30 this year and I never really ridden motorcycles. After trying out my friends motorcycles I got addicted and now after convincing my wife, I will finally purchase my new bike. I am taking my MSF course later this month and after that I plan to purchase WR250R. After were long consideration of different bikes and styles, I kept coming back to WR250R. I'm 6'4" and most bikes that I would sit on just would feel so crammed to me. At first I was going to buy a cruiser because sport-bikes are just not for me. This way I could go on rides with my friends who …

I'm a new member from the colonies (Canada) and joined as I'm a Yamaha owner once again. While my first bike was a Yamaha (1964 YA6, 125cc single) and my longest ridden bike was also Yamaha (1979 XS11, 17 Years), my recent purchase of a 1966 YM1 (305cc Catalina) is the only Yamaha in the shed. I've been riding since 1967, currently campaigning a 2000 BMW R1100RT with 180K kms on the clock, and have a few too many projects, completed and not, filling up the available space. Interests are bike restoration, vintage racing, photography and snooker. That's enough of the boring stuff. I'll make a separate post shortly but my immediate need is to find some bits for the YM1…

Hi, New Member Clive joining as I have just got my 2005 Drag Star 125 to get my licence. Should have done that in 1970;- once round the block and you've passed but I was happy with my Honda cb250ss on L plates so didn't feel the need. I've not ridden a bike on british roads for 40 years. I am appauled at the dreadful state of the roads which I now recognise as being on the whole the same surfaces as I rode back then cut to shreads mainly by the laying in of network services. Rant over, apart from the unexpected hazards lurking on every bend, biking today is safer and generally better disciplined, I look forward to many years of riding and meeting with some of y…

Hi everyone, well, I've had Honda's, SS50, rubbish, CBs200,3x250,550,750, Suzy's GTs125,185,500, GS750. OK I'm bored now! The gist is, like you I've had loads of bikes, and now I find myself buying a DT175,why? Well I've never had one but always admired them. And it fits in the motorhome! Just. So far I'm just checking and improving things as I go, main problem? Carrying me and the wife on a spindly spring mono shock , hopefully there's a mod ? Dave( West Yorkshire)

Hello, My fine lady just gave me an 06 V Star 1100 Classic as by 50th Birthday Gift. First bike, and I doubt it will be my last. Haven't spent but 2 days on it, and with Winter coming on in Seattle, it will probably be a few months before much more time is spent. Love it so far, and looking forward to more. I'm a Creative Director for a Video Production company. Native to Seattle and have spent many years in the medie around here. Looking forward to checking out the posts and seeing what happens here. Cheers. Doug https://www.dropbox....STAR 1100 2.JPG
