Hello all, Thought i would join the forum as i now have a yamaha 1300 midnight star. I have been after one cruizer for a long time and found this was the best one to get and got a great deal on it. I took my star out for the first time in a couple of weeks today. When i was on my way back she started kangarooing down the road and when i got it home it was running badly. It has fuel in the tank but not that much but the fuel light has not come on but does work as when i you turn the key it lights up and goes out. I am very worried as i hope there is nothing majorly wrong i will put some more fuel in soon and try it, but i was wondering if anyone would know any dif…

  3. Hi everyone, The names Paul (Scorpy) currently living in South Wales. Just passed my CBT last weekend and currently purchased a 1996 Yamaha SR125. Somehow managed to find one with one owner from new! Currently in the process on getting her ready for the MOT I'm a volunteer for the charity National Youthbike and you may have seen me at one of the rallies on the stand with Tony, Ron, Mitch and the crew. Looking forward to meeting you all on here, and soon (hopefully) on the road Paul

Good to be getting back Riding again after taking a really Great Riding Course. Hi i'm Tom, i'm 24 and live in the Yeovil and in the forces, I joined the forum to get some more information and other more experienced riders view on what to do as im very confused. I want a bike and i always have, but as i have always had classic minis i never had to money or time to get a bike but now as the mini are sold i have money to cover the costs of owning a bike but that is where i'm stuck. I was dead set on doing my DAS over my leave but i took a step back and looked at different things like what happens if i spend $500+ and i dont actullary like riding a bike, i think its alot of money to fork out at the moment, so i was looking at just doing my…

  9. Hey guys, New member, look at my pictures. I just picked up, what appears to be, a 1973 AT3. The frame and motor # AT1-219394. It runs but not very good. It has a new battery in it and starts easy, but it is a bit of a bogger, and so I am going to start this project by cleaning the carb and replacing the points and condenser / plug. Here's the deal, I will get a book but don't have one now. Question, I have two different plugs in this thing, it's hooked up to a NGK B8ES and the spare is a W24ES-U ( not sure of what brand this is). So, is either of these the correct plug for the bike? Does this look like the original carb Mikuni - what would be the basic start…

Hi all, Currently in the later stages of my first build, turning an XS250 into a street tracker. Hoping all the knowledge on here will help me get the thing running after scratching my head for the last month as to why it won’t start. Thanks Paul

Hello, I recently acquired a 1965 Yamaha YA6. After not riding for 20 years this is my first bike. The only issue is it has no spark and the starter is weak. I was riding and it just stopped running. All the grounds look good, the battery is weak as well but it should still spark. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hi Everyone, I passed my CBT just 14 months ago and, being short, ended up having to get a Yamaha SR 125, which is the model I used for doing my CBT. It's a super little bike and I'm really enjoying riding it. Motorcycling has changed my life and I am loving every minute that I can get out and about, though did have my first spill on Saturday during a Christmas toy run. Headlight smashed and needs replacing, and damage to the exhaust, but more cosmetic. All part of the learning curve. First fall had to come at some stage and wouldn't normally have been out on such greasy roads so normal common sense would have prevented the spill. I hope to learn lots f…

  14. Hey there, Im Dom and Im 19. Been riding since August and loving every moment. I know im only on a 125cc so I cant exactly say I'm a rider yet... but i can say is i have the ultimate goal of possessing (and maybe even marrying) an XJR1300 :') I hope the saying good things come to those who wait is true. I started off using garage/mechanics to service my bike but only recently i thought... ''hey! i really like those bikes, why dont i learn more about them!!'' and thats half the reason why im here. It would be awesome to talk to some interesting people, hear of great places to ride/ or riding, hear peoples experiences so i dont go wrong and general bike rela…

Hello, live on the south coast and restoring a yamaha dt125r, 1988. Owned for 13 years and nearly finished but would like better panels than I have. Although an 88 model is fitted with raspberry red bodywork and the colour change was registered with the DVLA in 1991 so would like to keep the same. Would very much appreciate any links or advice to source what I need, exhausted all other avenues (ebay, fowlers, cmsl, yambits, etc, etc) Have been thorough in the rebuild and top plastic would finish it properly. Thanks Oldman

  16. Hi all names Brian and new here. 4 weeks I bought my bike which ran fine for some time and then suddenly I have this strange issue, Hope you can help with my problem. My Neos 50cc YN50 has started to bog down and go around 10-20mph when it use to top 40. I went out one day then on the way back bog down. I thought this may be rollers so changed the variator and snapped the crankshaft, so total engine rebuild but problem is still there. So new engine, crankshaft, piston, head, variator, clutch, springs all good as is the belt. Engine pressure 170psi. Carbs cleaned and also swapped to be sure. Fuel supply good, no air leaks as best I can tell, also checked the fuel…

Hi All, I'm a new member (typically with a desperate plea for help!). I've a good basic knowledge of mechanics and have completely restored two Morris Minors and thought I would have learnt enough from this to be able to cope with fixing up a YBR125 but my cheap and previously neglected 2006 YBR125 has me completely stumped as the bike refuses to fire up normally. The problem seems to be fuel/mixture related. The only way I can get it to fire is to cover the air-inlet to the carb partially to restrict the air flow. By doing this I can get it to run but without the restriction the bike will stall under 3000 rpm. I initially thought it was something simple related to th…
