Hey everyone, Joined this group because I need some help fixing up an old YG5t. I inherited an old Yamaha 125 dirt bike in the late 80's ( rolling frame and a box of parts). Without much knowledge/parts/internet, I am sad to say it went to the great junkyard in the sky. Now, when I see an old piece of rust, I can't help myself to try and bring it back to it's former glory. Started with a 1966 Bultaco Lobito, and then picked up a 1969 YG5T. I am going to look around, but what I need help with most is how to wire the 12v voltage regulator. I bought a service manual, but my VR only has 2 terminals, and the manual has 5. Just thought Yamaha might have used the…

Good day all! Just joined this forum as i got my first Yamaha on friday! Always wanted an R1 now i have one. I came from a 2007 Honda CBR1000RR Repsol(Had 2 of them now) and now i have a black and gold, 2009 Yamaha R1 with 10 000km on the clock, 2 Bros Carbon Fiber exhaust, and in pristine condition.... What a machine! I am in love! Quick question. I read about the CCT issue on these R1's, anything to look out for and was there a recall in south africa? hopeing to get some interesting info here.

Hi, Svenoftog here, I owned a couple of 350lc's years ago. Have now bought the basic bits of a special. Single sided NC24 rear end., with a ypvs motor. Have found a very faint frame number - looks like 4L1 301558. Any ideas how I can enhance it to read it better?

Hello all! I thought I should introduce myself before I leave it too long and forget. I am restoring an XJ 600 after 10 years in storage with the intention of using it for commuting and generally running about. It is my return to biking after about 5 years off and is nearly ready for the road, but not quite. It's also my first restoration project (minimum effort due to time and cost ) I have written up my exploits on a blog. I have tried to write up the downs as well as the ups as I think its important to be honest. I hope I can help someone with my experiences, but it would be nice to have a working bike to give me some credibility! Looking forward …

Hi My name is Johnny and I own a YBR 125. (2009 on a '59 plate). Strawberry (the motorcycle) is named after the hansom cab horse in "The Magician's Nephew" who is give power of speech by Aslan the Lion and later the ability to fly. I bet you can't guess the colour of strawberry. After failing my DAS in 2007 by leaving the indicators on I decided to get a small bike to practise on. In February 2011 I passed my A2 bike test. I live in Bath but am originally from Cambridge here I spent my first 40 odd years regards Johnny and I have a question on where to get sprockets.

Hello there. My nickname is Chappers. I'm 35, 6ft 2" married and I have been riding now for about 4 years. Started off on a Speedflight then took my geared CBT. After passing I traded in to get my first proper bike. A brand spanking new Yamaha YZF-125R in midnight black. *sigh* I loved this bike looked like a stealth fighter! I rode it for 2 years and what a joy it was to ride. Then 3 months ago I got bad news from the doc. I've got sciatica anyway and he went on to explain that the riding position was adding to my pain and problems. Mornfully I explained this to my wife, so we started looking for a replacement that had a better posture for me to ride on. Thanks to a …

Hello everyone, I have stumbled across your forums through a google search and thought it would be great to sign up. My name is Lee, I am 22 years old and from Cornwall, UK. I have only got a provisional license with a CBT but plan on doing my full test within the next year. The previous bikes I have owned are a Honda MTX125, a Yamaha SR125, a Suzuki GN125, a Yamaha RD125LC, a Honda CG125, an Aprilia RS125 and my current bike that I purchased one month ago is a 2007 Yamaha YBR125 with only 592 miles on the clock, so practically brand new! It is on about 820 miles now and out of all of the bikes I have owned, I reckon the RDLC was the most fun as I do love 2 strokes, but t…

Was told to come here and say hello. I'm Owen, 17, Just purchased my first Motorbike. I've got a Yamaha YBR 125 Custom. I live far far out in the mountains with barren roads and needed a ride to University because student accommodation is too pricey!! And also went for motorbike over car because... let's face it. Which 17 year old male can afford a car, insurance, MOT, road tax and all the extras without having their parents chip in. I refuse to relay on anyone else especially when it comes to money. On the more positive side I have a 60 mile there and back trip to make 4 days a week into the city on gentle country roads with minimal traffic. It would be a was…

Hi everyone, I am a, as we speak, 24 yo motorcycle enthousiast. At the moment I own two oldtimer offroad motorcycles, a 89 dt125r and a 85 dt125lc. I prefer oldtimer motorcycles of this erra and really enjoy working on them. I've fully rebuild my two motorcycles from the ground up, the dt125lc was actually a hobby restauration project, I picked it up as an old wreck as a fix-her-upper. Anyway I am here to learn and to expand my knowledge.

I hope to find a ton of information from this site. Im pretty new to the forums too so I guess I'd like a little guidance on how to look for info. Id like to put a wider back wheel and tire on the FZ and do a top end / carbeurator rebuild. Anyways, Its nice to meet you all and I look forward to being a part of this forum.

I'm new to the forum, thanks for the home for Yamaha owners, I've enjoyed browsing. I rode when I was a kid, 20 years ago, but recently got back into it. I bought an XVS650 Classic 2007 about a year ago and have put on 6500 km. I'm in the Sydney area. I love the surrounding rides, Bells Line of Road, out to Jenolan Caves, Down South to Picton etc. I'll be off my P plate in Feb 2012 and looking forward to it. I'm looking at swapping for the XVS 950 at that stage, but still looking at all the options. The only thing that worries me about the 950 is how many reports say it scrapes too soon. I've only scraped a few times on the 650 and if the 950 has similar clearance it will…

Good morning XS500 owners. I'm new here and just acquired a 1978 Yamaha XS500 E. I wanted to add this bike to my collection because the XS500 was the first bike I ever owned and I remember the bike as being a great bike that served me well and was a lot of fun to own. I intend to fully restore the bike to its previous glory so help will very likely be needed and this looks like a good place to acquire the help I will need. Company has just come through the door so i will finish this introduction later. Rob
