Howdy all. I live in a little town in south Texas called Boerne. I just bought my first Yamaha, a 93 FJ1200 that has been parked for six years. It is very clean with only 15K miles, of course, the battery was dead so I couldn’t test the electrics, but the clutch And brakes seemed to work good and it shifted smoothly. Now I bought a new battery and installed it. All the lights work, turn signals, brake lights, instrument panel lights, etc, but when I hit the starter button, nothing. No clicking or any noise, just silence. It was in neutral, clutch pulled in, on the side stand. I checked all the fuses under the seat and all are good. What else can I check to see why the sta…

Hey there I'm new all around. New to yamaha, just got my M permit and got my hands on a 1980 yamaha XS1100 eleven special. Shes in good condition although aparently the previous owners thought a horn from a clown car would be a good idea and jeep spot lights as add ons to the headlight. I'm sure once I get her back to the bare essentials she'll look even better. Oh and fix the title, I dont know what an RS is but I'm sure its not the XS I got in my garage.

Howdy from Texas! Been off 2 wheels for 11 years but got a XVS1100 custom a year ago. Having a blast! Looking forward to getting to know some of you Vstar owners and learning from you. Last bike was an '80 Honda CB750 but love the Yami MUCH more. I wouldn't trade it for the World. 333 (Halfevilman)

Hey all Jordan here, Im 17 years old from sheffield As I recently got a full time job around 10 miles away and public transports stupid prices I needed another way to travel, So I decided to pass my CBT and get a bike! I did look around for a while before buying one and ended up being stuck between a XR 125 and a XT 125, Was also considering a DT 125 as i saw one going cheap, I ended up getting a XT simply because it was cheaper then the XR, Does more miles to a full tank and looks nicer then the XR. Now I have been riding the XT around 4 months and the snows come to a end it's time to make it look the part, So a few days ago I went out and ordered myself a …

Hey folks, I'm Andy, 36 from Wigan, UK I've had bikes for the main part since i was 17 (oh yeah now I feel old). I've always had sports bikes, from my RD125, RGV250, CBR400, GSXR600 etc... but with traffic on roads these days and be generally not nailing it everywhere and, I admit, watching too much American Chopper and Sons of Anarchy I bought myself, or really the wife bought me (oh yeah she's a keeper!) a 950 midnight star. I really am loving this bike although keeping it off the pegs round corners is still a work in progress! I looked around for some extra info and came across this site I took and look round, looks like its inhabited by a good set of folks C…

Hey All, Just wanted to say hi! I picked up my first Yamaha (1978 XS750) this weekend, and I think its going to be a real (fun!) project. I'd been debating the merits of the XS750s vs the (Honda) CB750s for a month prior to buying this bike without coming to any overwhelming conclusions, but the price on this particular bike ($300) steered me toward the XS. There are (at least) evident electric (harness) and aesthetic issues, but I'm excited and can't wait to get to work turning her into a budget cafe. This will be my first, and I'm hoping to do a serviceable job with another $1,700 (for a total of 2G). Quick observation: in the 24 hours since I actua…

Thought I'd do a search for a forum, for advice and info, so here I am. A brief intro, i'm an old geezer (58) who started on an AP50 in 1976. Since then, dozens of bikes have passed through my hands, some I keep for a while, others I let go quickly. Last strokers (before the current one) were aTDR250, a KH250 and a GT185. Others owned include lots of air cooled RDs, GTs, and goodness knows what else. So last week, I picked up an RD350YPVS F2, a matching numbers UK bike, with a verified 12,000 miles on the clocks. Lovely thing, goes very well, and other than a very small panel repair, in remarkably good nick. This picture was taken at the vendor's house, bef…

Can someone tell me the true HP of my 2009 Stratoliner? Love the bike, except it needs a shorter windshield. Also, does anyone else hear what sounds like screaming crickets at about 2500 rpm? Thanks

well I have finally done it, after threatening to do it for 30 years. I have sold my car and bought my first motorbike. I picked up my YBR 125 Custom last week and have clocked up nearly 300 miles riding around town and going to work. I am not pretending to be 'a biker' (just yet) but I am enjoying every mile. Theory test and practical next and a big learning curve in how the mechanics work on a two wheeler. the experience of riding a motorcycle is living up to my expectations - commuting is exciting again!! what am I sorry about?....that I didnt do this 30 years sooner!! will keep you posted

Hey! Today was an interesting day. A friend decided to skip the country for a promotion. He didn't want any ties back in the uk and basically sold everything as fast as he could. He like a numpty forgot about his bike. It's been sat 5+ years. Never used since he dropped it on a roundabout going very slowly. He did some superfical damage, a minor paintwork and chrome graze, and hurt his pride a lot. Never got on it again. So he decides to give it to me.... I have no bike expirience! No helmet, No protective clothing, no licence or CBT. I do have a full UK car licence, and am not stupid/young enough to go out playing without all of the former been in place first! …

As the years seem to pass by images of motorcycles past keep flashing in my thoughts so I thought I'd do a project restoring a '79 DT125F. That model was my first bike, as super cool enduro that allowed me freedom to move about. There were many miles put on that bike scooting around town and back roads in Kansas. I found an add for one with a parts bike for $300 and thought what the heck, I'm not getting any younger so I bought them. Here's the image of my bike in '81 that is burned into my brain pan. Here is what I'm starting with now... AND Neither have been started since the mid '90s but they both turn over. I have everythin…
