hi all!,

I would like to rebuild the carb on my 72 DT250. It has a Mikuni, but Clymer does not give me enough information to order a kit. I found some specs that indicate this is a VM26SH. But I am thinking I need a little more info. Can anyone tell me the MM size of this carb, or what I would need to tell someone to get the correct kit? Any ideas where such a kit can be ordered? Thanks for the help, I was searching past posts, but could not get this specific info.

I was out on a test ride yesterday and the bike started bogging and barely kept running. I checked the plugs and they are both black which I figure makes sense since the airfilters have been soaked with fuel many times. So I pull the filters out and run again. Much better. But I check the plugs again and I'm lean of course. I have a set of pod filters to put on and I want to replace the stock mufflers. Any thoughts on how many sizes to go up? Maybe 2 sizes to start?

Hey fellas, I have another question. I have a problem with my bike, it runs fine on flat land.... I was driving around the yard today and I have a slight hill in front of the house.. I was in first just cruzin around had my son on with me I couldnt make it up the hill?????? Just bogged way down and shut off.... I went around the yard again fine tried to go up the little hill and same problem... any help would be appreciated..... runs fine on the road but its gonna bug me till I figure it out it should pull that hill

I'm considering buying an old Yamaha off of a friend of mine, but neither he nor I know much about the bike. He thinks it is from the 70s and it is a 250cc 4-stroke bike. Alright, my torque wrench and valve compressor should be here today. I have the "top end kit" with all the gaskets and such. (the top-end kit at the top of the page - https://www.partsnmore.com/cat_index.php?mo...ategory=engine) I've already taken the gas tank and carbs off the bike and looked at it last night - It looks tight - is this really doable without removing the engine from the frame? I'd like to replace the head gasket, will this be made available by just removing the top-most part of the case? Hi Y'all. I've had my one owner 1978 Yamaha XS650E since new in 1978, all original with the backrest/luggage rack and 9K original miles. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find a windscreen that fits well? I recently moved to Texas and can ride almost year round, but am tired of taking bugs, etc in my teeth.

Sorry to make this my first post but I'm feeling pretty bummed right now. I bought a second XS400 about a week ago in the hopes that it was nearer to seeing the road than my current project XS. Well I guess I was wrong again. It started, it ran, it seemed to drive around at least when I brought it home. Well I spent the last week cleaning, adjusting, and fixing what I saw. Today I changed the oil and filter, cleaned the screen, replaced the plugs and cleaned and lubed the clutch. Well now it doesn't pull itself in any gear but I can hear and feel it shifting. It also seems to leak oil from the left cylinder right at the exhaust?? I did a compression check and foun…

I just totally and completely stripped the top threaded hole on my brake side lever assembly. the i didn't even torque it down enough to seat it onto the new handlebars (which have the same OD by the way, i double checked that to see if I would need to make a shim of some kind), it was still free spinning. when i started to tighten the bottom screw, as soon as it made contact with its lock washer, the top one went *pop* and just kind of slid out of the hole. now, i have to check the one old bike recycling place here to try and scrounge up an original. if that doesnt work, im going to have to try to either fix it somehow (not likely, the metal is soft enough…

Hey everyone, Does anyone know where or have youhad anyone make a custom seat for your 400special? I want something that sits lower. I had a guy make the one for my xs that I have as my avatar but, he isnt around anymore. Just thought I would ask any suggestions? Maybe try to do it myself. while i was at work, some twat decided it would be a good idea to try and remove my clutch lever. It was pitch black when I got on the bike, and the post was still slightly in there, so it wasnt completely falling off... i did notice that the clutch felt a little loose - it was engaging very far out from the handlebars. anyway, about a quarter mile from home, in the headlights of an oncoming car i noticed the post sticking out, so i reached out to touch it, and it FELL OFF... needless to say, this made the clutch lever basically useless. after about a half hour of searching in the dark, i found it, and put it back in... then i noticed that someone had …

Hey guys I have another question. I need a wiring diagram for my bike. I took everything off the front cause I changed out the handle bars and the head light. I'm not putting the turn signals back on in front or rear because well I dont need them for any reason. I also got a new tach and speedo. So I need to know how to wire every thing back up please help with this. I could sit there for hours trying to figure it out and blow fuses.......but I would rather not. Thanks in advance.
