Hi, was just reading the other thread on 'new rings for DT175' and read that the clearance between the piston skirt and bore should be 0.035 - 0.04mm. I have just bought a rebored barrel, new piston, rings etc to convert my DT125MX and decided to check mine out. The bore 'appears' to be ok according to the new rings which when placed in the bore give the correct end gap but the new piston appears to rattle a little in the bore and I am able to get a 0.06mm feeler in between skirt and bore. The piston is made by MITAKA and i was wondering about the accuracy of manufacture and if this is a quality manufacturer or not ? ! Or is it more likely that the bore is not accurate. …

Hi guys, i have a 1995 DT125, with a 2003 engine. When i got the bike the PV was pegged open. I have since fitted a YPVS servo. The bike has a full DEP system, and i have trimmed the inlet rubber 'funnel'as shown on DT125.net. The bike pulls really well at higher revs, but seems to be gutless at low revs, i.e. upto approx 6k RPM. The servo appears to working correctly (does cleaning cycle and opens when revved) and i have set it using the guide on DT125.net. Also the bike doesn't like 'cruising' at a constant speed below the 6k RPM mark. The bike is ok all the time i am increasing speed but seems to cough and splutter along the road instead of staying at a constant RPM…

Does anybody know how many kilometers my dt 400 should go on a tank of gas? I've been doing lot's of mountain riding I live in the the interior of BC. I am only getting about 80 km a tank. Also does high elevation make a difference? I ride, from home, 500 meters above sea level to about 2000 meters in a single ride.

Hello all, I recently picked up a 79' DT 175 in pretty poor shape. After taking it apart and cleaning, I've been doing some research on here. As of right now, I'm looking to all you veteran dt guys for a little help. The bike came with all the fuel lines and oil lines removed. The oil pump is disabled and the oil tank is removed, so I'm doing the pre-mix. My question is what lines do I need to cap, and which one is the fuel in, and fuel overflow? A picture of the left side of the carb would be awesome if anyone has one. This is my first bike and I'm 31. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance!!

If this has been covered I apologize, but all that I have found are questions on derestricting a bike. I just baught a yz80 for my 9 year old son and I need help restricting it so he can learn to ride. We had a choice between that and a pw80. I know the pw80 would suite him much better at the moment but he would outgrow it real soon and I am not one to buy a differant bike every other year. Both bikes were the same price and the yz is more than twice bike from what I hear. Also the yz had new tires, rear spring, front fork and suspension, new plastic all the way around and for 300.00 (only a relative would give you a deal like that) I could not walk away especially…

hi, i was just about to reassemble my new clutch in the basket when i realised that the steel plates are not round thing. they are shapped in a circular but not symetric way.(they are not bent, its their shape) my question is: how to i install them? is it a random order or do have to put them all in the same position over the clutch plates? i didnt wanted to put i back in case i would do something wrong and break all. any way, im putting it tomorrow night all together so any response in the next 15h are greatly appreciated! thanks Rapco(proud owner of a dt175 !!) ps(is there anything i need to know else than that?)

Hi all, this is my 1st post as a new member so be gentle. Just come in from bringing home my new 2005 DT125. My idea is to sell my gilera 50cc moped after ive done my CBT and upgrade to my DT,this in itself brings a question. Can someone shine a light on this, ive been told i need my CBT before i can ride it which i believe to be true but just want to make sure,im 38 and passed my test when i was 17,it was only the guy i bought it off told me i dont need to pass it if im on L plates. Anyway just a few questions about my ride home. It seem very blue smokey from the exhaust as though its burning alot of 2 stroke oil,can i check/adjust this for the right mixture? Also t…

Hi, I passed my test yesterday so after ripping my L plates off I went home and set about earthing the wire which allows the power valve to operate fully. I've clipped it to the front fork and it's definately worked as it's pulling a lot more in the higher revs and you can hear the exhaust note change as the valve opens at a certain number of revs. However i still only manage 70 mph tops (was 65mph when restricted), yet reading other topics people are claiming 80/85mph? Is there something i've missed? I'm pretty sure the power valve isn't in the wrong way as i can feel and hear the power increase and i dont believe the bike has been derestricted before. Does any…
