I’ve got a project bike and I need to remove the blind needle roller bearing inside the left hand crankcase. It’s the one the gearbox layshaft sits in. I don’t have a puller but has anyone managed to get the bearing out by any other means? Cheers Lee

Hi! I ordered intake manifolds for xt600 1998, 3tb. I Got different which I had. Original intake has black airbox connected to intake manifolds and I got manifolds without connections to air box. Question is, what is this air box? Can I live without it? Why they add this air box to 1998-1999 models? thanks!

Hi All, Need some help please. Just joined you and impressed with info etc available. I have just dragged from a shed a 1990 (ish) XT350 which I was told is an import ? nothing to prove or back this up though. I had her running but had a terrible knocking which turned out to be big end wear, now rebuilt and I'm working through tidying her up. Issue is I have only a frame number (with matching engine no) for the bike, I want to register it but DVLA site is as good as the Yamaha ashtray !! can anyone firstly help me identify the year and also point me in the right direction to register the bike. Frame no 001181 that's all I have. …

I recently bought a mk1 but on the registration of the previous owner it says that the mk1 has 16KW, wich is obivously wrong. The problem is i cant register it or ultimatly i can't drive it here in belgium because the maximum is around 11kw with the liscene i got. Normally the mk1 has 10.3KW @ 6500rpm or 11.7KW @ 7500rpm wich would allow me to register and drive it. My question to you guys, is there any way i can obtain a official yamaha document stating that the mk1 has around 11KW ( preferably 10.3KW ) so i can proof to the office here in belgium that the bike is in fact around 11KW and not the wrong 16KW? thanks in advance

My XT has just passed 2100 miles (done 500 in 2 weeks) and the more it's being used the better it seems to perform. The previous owner had only done 1600 miles in a year, which was all round town plodding, so I don't think it's ever been cut loose till I had it. Gave it a fair old revving yesterday, and really made it work hard. And when I took it out this morning I noticed that it was more responsive than it's ever been. So, do Thumpers like the XT600 take a lot longer to fully loosen up a new engine than an IL4?

I have derestricted and fitted a DEP backbox to my DT125r and it seems to have made no real difference to the performance because it seems to lose power at 7k rpm. Has anyone had this problem or know anything I can do to sort it. Cheers, Millsey

I had a very slight oil weep from the valve cover seal when I had it. I told the dealer and he'll sort it for me. Anyway, the sound thrashing that it had on Sunday has made the work a little more urgent, so it's gone in. Probably in for a couple of days to replace gaskets and O Rings...no charge though. And my handguards (official Yamaha) have arrived too. The Giant Killer should be fit by the weekend! With any luck!

I've got an 89 DT125r with a flatslide mikuni and i'm puzzled as to what the pipe to the right hand side of the venturi is for, on my bike it doesnt go anywhere. Ive had the carb apart and it appears to be part of the main jet circuit. Would just like to kno as i'm currently having a problem with my bike melting pistons (2 so far, but thats another story). If this link works you will see a pic of the pipe i'm on about http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/385238/ Cheers Greg

Is the exhaust system (ie the entire pipe system) of the XT660R stainless steel? I know this is pretty basic question, but I don't seem to be able to find anything on this - not even from Yamaha spec sheet. I know the chassis is steel. Does it mean it will rust away if left outside? The TDM900 is great - aluminium chassis and stainless steel exhausts, great for someone that can't afford a garage (living in central London).
