Hello, My friend is offering me a 1982 Yamaha DT 125 for £150 but there are a few things wrong with it. -The wiring needs to be put on. -The sprockets and chain aren't attached. However he does say the gears are fine and there is high compression. I was just wondering would it be worth £150 and what else should I look out for? Also does it sound like it would be a fairly easy job to get it going again? Heres a link to the picture:http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1660407521874&set=t.1155507960&type=3&theater Thanks, Ollie.

Hi all, I'm looking to speak to a few DT125LC restorers for a feature in Practical Sports Bikes magazine. It would involve a chat on the phone and a high res pic of you and your bike to go with your words of wisdom. If you'd be up for helping, you can contact me via a pm on the forum, by email at [email protected] or on 07875 736021. Many thanks for any help you can give. All the best, Gez Kane, Practical Sports Bikes

I am just starting to put the engine back together and when I went to put the clutch basket on I noticed that there is play between the gear and the basket. It moves about an 1/8 of an inch. Is that normal? It doesn't seem to me. I have a spare engine for it and on that clutch basket someone has welded the gear to the plate that is riveted to the basket.

Hi, I'm coming to the conclusion that 74, 75, & 76 Yamaha DT fuel tanks (175 in particular) are NOT interchangeable. Lets find out shall we. If you would indulge me, please measure your 74, 75 or 76 DT fuel tank from the centerline of the forward mounting ears to the centerline of the rear mounting hole. Mine measures 17.75 inches. Mine is could be a 75, I'm not positive. What does yours measure?? Thanks Bill

hi all, a couple weeks back i had a major case of misjudging a puddle ( more like a pond) and found my bike quickly submerged . And the exhaust filed up with water. Anyway after 30mins of trying to get it back started and heaps of water flushing out the back the exhaust sounded terrible!. It is a DEP exhaust so i expected it to sound kinda tinny but now its really loud and sound completely different, whats happened?? G

Just picked up a 2012 WR450F on saturday. Everything about the bike is perfect besides the fact i can barley touch the ground im like 5'7". I adjusted the sag enough to where i can side saddle it but thats not going to work very well when im flying through the trails and i come to a sudden stop or im slowly creeping. Is there anyway of lowering it besides a yamalink lowering link? I cant adjust the triple clamp at all. any help would be appreciated thanks

i would like to build an 18 inch front wheel for my DT to use some road tyres I have, and was wondering what rims would fit, I have learned that you cant just chuck any old 36 hole rim on because the angles are different due to hub diameters etc. Does anyone have any ideas?? Cheers Ed

Hey everyone, So the 77 TY175 has developed a power loss/poor running issue. It starts first kick every time, idles great and will take as much throttle as you want to give it from idle. Once in gear and riding it starts to accelerate normally and then kind of dies out (still running) but just kind of gets sputtery and won't come develop any kind of power or speed from there, if that makes sense. Plug looks decent, am replacing it tonight anyway just in case. Carb has been cleaned and it has new pistion and rings. It was running fine until yesterday. I don't have a compression tester but am shopping for one today. Maybe carboned up exhaust? Crank seal leak? Any advice …

I have acquired a 100cc yamaha enduro, however, I cannot find the model name I thought it was a dt 100 but I have been told the earliest of those were made in 1974. My bike is made in July 1973, and the frame number is 437-001715. Does anyone know what this bike is, thank you.

Hi, I have just bought a 2007 DT 125 RE and wondered if anyone can give me some advice regarding the exhaust. I think it has a standard expansion pipe with a another small silver pipe attached to it. The problem is with the small pipe which was held onto the exhaust with a small jubilee clip ( I think it is damaged where it goes on to the exhaust ). I noticed it was blowing but wondered what would be the best way to attach it or do away with it and seal the point on the expansion pipe it was attached to, or if I bought a dep system what would happen to the pipe left hanging down or does that attach to the dep system. I apologise if it's been asked before but any advice wo…
