Hi everyone I have a barrel, piston and head off a 1M1. I know its off a dt250 but was wondering what the difference was between the 1M1 and the 1R7 engine. It is a spare so I am going to put on ebay once i am sure what bike its off. When researched it says its off a dt250f 1979. The 1R7 it says is off a dt250 1977-1980, hence the confusion. Thanks in advance for any helpful info. Digger Hi a quick update, apparently the 1R7 is european/UK spec and 1M1 is US spec. Next question are they inter changeable? T.I.A Digger

Hello People, I'm new to the forum, am about to buy my first yamaha, an xt660r. Just went and looked at one today with 15,000 miles. It looked great. The only thing is i noticed it had a sports exhaust and K&N filter but i couldn't see any fueling upgrades? (the bike was at a dealers and they didnt know the full history of it). Do you think that this would be enough extra air for it have damaged the engine at all? It seemed to be idling nicely? Thoughts would be really appreciated. Thanks

I recently bought a mk1 but on the registration of the previous owner it says that the mk1 has 16KW, wich is obivously wrong. The problem is i cant register it or ultimatly i can't drive it here in belgium because the maximum is around 11kw with the liscene i got. Normally the mk1 has 10.3KW @ 6500rpm or 11.7KW @ 7500rpm wich would allow me to register and drive it. My question to you guys, is there any way i can obtain a official yamaha document stating that the mk1 has around 11KW ( preferably 10.3KW ) so i can proof to the office here in belgium that the bike is in fact around 11KW and not the wrong 16KW? thanks in advance

Hi, Next week i have a mk1 arriving and was wondering how hard (or even if its possible) to fit a mk3's swingarm? And a extra question: are there any exhausts, engines, cilinder kits that fit plug and play (or with slight mods) into the mk1 frame/block (from another bike etc). thomas

Hi everyone I have just reinstalled a oil pump on my dt after years of premix. It appears to be smoking a lot more. Do I remove a shim or add one to lesson the oil/fuel mix. I’m thinking add so it lessens the stroke of the pump. Am I right or wrong. T.I.A Digger

Hi I’m having problems with my gearbox after strip down. I believe the problem was already there before as it was a non runner and when stripping I noticed the gear change shaft was bent about 2mm. I have straightened it now to about .5mm. When I try to change gear when gear selector is built up I get nothing but if I use a flattened file as a selector it changes ok. see photos Any advice would be great cheers Graham

Is there a step by step instructional video on how to remove the front wheel? I know it's basic, but the brake cable and speedo cable are not easily removed. Any service manuals or instruction online ?

Your thoughts gentlemen or even can you point me in the direction of someone who is already doing this so i can place an order for one. It way well have been done before and i di not want to reinvent the wheel Ok then. I may well have found someone who would manufacture a system for the DT250. I have looked long and hard on fleabay and literally 100's of sites for the system to no avail, they really do seem to be as rare as rocking horse poo. Assuming i am not as dumb as a box orf rocks and there is someone sitting (uncomfortably) on a pile of dt 'spannies' and silencers and i am the only one who does not know about them then; Q1: If i could get someone to manuf…

Hi! I've recently bought a Dt125RE converted to supermoto, it's got Excel rims front and back 120/70 and 140/70 . And im wondering how it will affect the handling if I install a 150/70 tire in the back. And im also having some issues with my powerband, my bikes tops out at around 140km/h (gps) but on most gears it lacks power at around 7000 rpm, it doesn't bog but just doesn't wanna KICK, like it does by 8000k rpm and 6000. . Thanks!

Hi guys I’ve recently got a new bike (Guess which one lol). It’s far from untouched and I would love to really show it some attention, do some tasteful mods and stuff, and I would like to bring it up to date with everything that has happened in the past 17 years. it’s currently got a few mods but it’s a bit of a mystery, I know it has an Athena top end kit, I believe someone has put forks off of something else on there and they’re leaking so I’ll need to figure that out. Let me know if you have any recommendations for mods, any niche things that you think are cool. It doesn’t have an mot at the moment and everything plastic from the fuel tank forward i…
