Cheers all, new member here: I have a 94 Seca2 XJ600rebuilt from crash parts which had been sitting for years (lots of work and constant maintenance). My current issue is the crankshaft oil seal (left side behind ignition rotor), manuals show lipped seal, I understand new seal doesn't have a lip to allow replacement without splitting crankcase, however, can I remove the old one without splitting the crankcase? PS I do have wiring diagrams I could email (downloaded the manual pdf from somewhere, I don't remember where or I'd post the link)

  2. Hi guy's Recently purchased an xj600 it's a 1993 model put pre diversion, anyway was wondering what sort of performance i should be getting from the bike as it seems more like a 125 than a 600,pulls ok upto about 6000 but then takes ages to rev much higher and 6th gear is just a waste of time,i can only get about 85 -90 out of it if i really cane it! Is this normal for this model of bike as i know there not ment to be that quick by todays standards but just doesn't seem right to me(frieghtened to even overtake the artics lol) Any help would be great Thanks shaun

Hi folks! This is my first post and already I'm scrambling for info. I need to replace the fork stantions on my bike as they are a bit pitted (as you would expect for a 20 year old bike). Now the cheapest Ive been able to find in the UK is from a company called Busters Accessories. They sell them for £80 each. What I need to know is can they be found cheaper (what do you expect from a Jock)anywhere else and is Busters a reputable company? I'd be glad to have your input!

Where can I find a replacement petcock for my seca? One that is preferably cheap and will fit without any other modifications. Rebuilding is not an option because the fuel lever had a little crack in it.

I have a 1996 XJ600 that I'm trying to wire for an Acewell Speedometer. I don't understand the wiring diagram that came with the speedometer (i.e. there are two factory wires that run to the dash signals, but the diagram only shows one. I'm confused. Please help.

Hi All Right Im now fed up with being overtaken by lorries on the way to work (A2 in kent) on my XV125, its just too slow going up hills, so I have booked my DAS for the 26th October. Im looking at getting a bigger bike for the commute to work (and have a bit of fun on) I need something with a fairing on it as it will be used all through the winter, it needs to be comfy for a pillion (if i can persuade the missis to get on it) not too new as the budget wont stretch and not a sports bike so a bit of an all rounder, was thinking of an XJ600N as i prefere it to the diversion's, just got a few questions if anyone can help. Do the XJ600N's suffer from any common faults (blo…

  10. Hi, I'm new here so hope that i have posted this in right place... Quick question: I just bought my first ever bike (2002 Yamaha XJ600N) but my problem is that i very small hands and the reach to both the break and the clutch standard levers is quite big which means that after riding my hands (mainly from clutch control) are quite sore from over reaching. on the 600N there is no way to adjust the lever position (you can adjust the clutch bite point but not the position of the lever). so after searching i think the only way around my issue is to replace the levers with adjustable ones. ... I've checked EBay and there seem to be quite a few for sale but having looked i'm no…

Hey ya'll. Been a while. I'm planning on fitting bar risers to the divvy, probably only 20mm as my back ain't that shot, yet. Next bike will be bigger! Will I have enough cable and hose play or will I need longer of each? Ta!

Hi all, Hope someone can help. The battery on my 2002 XJ600N drains very quickly, and is dead after a weeks commuting (short trips of around 3-4 miles each way). I'm easy on the electrics i.e. Not using the heated grips. There's a new battery on it but that didn't help. Can it be the regulator/rectifier? Not great at bike mechanics so any help is appreciated.

so, my xj600n is back out the garage and ready for its MOT this weekend, few things i noticed were that there is a slight knocking noise coming from the bike when idle, was on yourtube and it sounds like it the norm for these bikes? also, in exitment to get out for a spin i put 2 stoke into it . . .(thanks to my old man not correcly labaling the fuel cans) after i noticed i emptied what was left of the tank, and filled with fresh fuel, but its still smoking like a chimney. is there anything i should do prior to my next trip on it? e.g. sparkplugs fuel filter ect? thanks! Matt

My bikes unfortunately missing the pillion footrests and I'm currently looking for a pair. Just got off the phone to a breakers but they want £40 + VAT which seems a bit steep to me. Does anyone know of anywhere I could get some aftermarket ones? Or the size I'd be looking for (not at home so can't measure the fixings). Cheers TQ

Hi guys, As the title says: i have an overheating problem with my '92. Diversion. Obviously there isn't much to be done about it since it is an air-cooled engine but i was hoping to get any useful advice. I live in a warm region on the Adriatic sea, with high summer temperatures, so during the summer my bike gets so hot after 2 minutes of riding that it chokes whenever i'm under 3,500 rpm (causes a lot of uneccesary traffic-light-to-traffic-light racing due to the fact that every other bike thinks i'm teasing them). after 8 years i got used to this problem but i feel that there must be something that can be done about it. Ideas are, as far as i've heard: insta…

  17. Hi, I have recently aquired a 2000 xj600s diversion which does not have any illumination to the dash area for the speedo and tacho. All other bulbs are working ie, headlight, indicators etc. What type of bulb do i need, how many, and are they easy to replace. Is it likely its a bulb or a fuse which may be the cause? Many Thanks Marc

I want to fit my 1996 (95 left over) SECA II with a full fairing. I possibly have found a place to buy the a set of Lockhart Phillips lowers to add to the stock fairing. I also was wondering if anyone out there has any information on making a full fairing from a differnt bike fit? Also, I was wondering if the SECA II had the same or a similar frame to any other Yahmaha, or any motorcycle models tha might be easier to find a full fairing for. Hopefully someone has a bit of information for me. Thanks, Aaron

hey folks, I've been reading up on rubber and there are so many choices that its almost impossible to narrow anything down. Maybe you folks with Seca's and Diversions can help me out. I do a lot of touring in the area (San Diego) and of course the bike is my transportation to and from work. I need something that a little sticky, but wears well. What do you recommend, what have you used, what do you abhor? Thanks ahead of time.
