  1. Morning Ladies and Gentlemen Just a quickie if I may, firstly I'm new here so hello to everyone and thanks for the tips I've already picked up from reading around. I have recently picked up a '98 Cat and as much as I love it cornering is a little unpredictable, it doesn't always seem to quite go quite where I'm expecting. Tyres are good and meaty, although I've just let the back one down to 38 PSI and that has helped (it was 42!) so I wondered if anyone can give me any advice on setting the shocks up please. I'm 5'10 ish and about 13 stone if that helps. Might just make it a little more confidence inspiring on the corners. Also, the front cowl seems to be at a…

Hi All, My cat failed its MOT on the rear shock rebound. Can I sort this myself or is it a new/exchanged shock? Does the R6 shock fit the cat? I haven't got the money for a £300 pound shock and I cannot find any second hand shocks on the net. Thanks all

Hi. im new to this site and looking for help on tyre choice for my thundercat. I do a bit of two up riding and the odd track day but mainly road riding at a decent pace. Any information on what tyres anyone has used for this sort of riding would be welcome thanks. My only gripe is that i dont want to fit anything that will wear out in 2 months ie, mega soft sports rubber. Thanks. leigh

  9. Hey guys, I was wondering what the differences, if any, are between the Thundercat, the yzf-600 and the yzf-600r? Was there ever a YZF-600 Genesis? or is that only people putting genesis FZR tails on their yzfs? Also, what is the difference between a 95 yzf 600 and the newer ones?

  10. well i have a few questions about parts interchange and if i should even try things. well i bought a 1982 XV920 fuel tank since it holds more fuel then the stock 750 tank. question #1: the 920 tank has 1 petcock my 750 has 2. can i use one 750 petcock to feed 2 carbs? i'm willing to make a place for a second petcock on the tank but if i don't have to that would make things more simple. next question (#2): i bought a use 920 rear end(bike is shaft drive). i know the 750 have a rear gear ratio of 3.21:1 and the 920 has 3.14:1. can i swap the 920 rearend in? i trying to lower my RPMs on the hwy. and well if i math is right even if i am math tard i should drop around 200-2…

Hi all This is my first major question for the world of yamaha owners... I just bought a xj6, 1992, and am going to put some new tires on her... But I'm kinda at a lost of where to go tire shopping... I've only had cars and America's Tire has been my old stand by for tire's. They dont' do bike's however so now I'm unsure of where to go or look for tires. I've got a cyclegear close and have looked there, dennis kirk too. But I'm unsure as to what would be a "good" tire, vs a bad one. what would be good for my riding style and weight... ((Cruising on country roads, not commuting on a highway or city traffic as much as I can avoid it, weigh 200lbs)) So any advice, w…

Recently MOT'd my XJ600N and to my shock ( haha!) the tires were on the limit. Anyone in the area recommend best place to get new ones ? i was thinking about Bridgestone BT 45's but maybee settle for something a bitty cheaper in this cold, miserable, money tight times . . mind you . . could allways just forget the girlfriends valentines present . . . Got a quote for £152 for Pirelli's . . guy said speed demons, but im thinking 152's a bit cheep for them ? Cheers Matthew

Firstly apologies for using the title to introduce culture to the forum Continuing my stream of newbie questions - I am down to 2 bikes for my first 'big' bike. Barring a bit of difference in the toys and a few k in mileage the difference between the bikes is that one has ABS. Especially as this is my first big bike is the ABS worth a couple of hundred extra? I am aware of the use of ABS generally, albeit on cars (am I allowed to use the 'c' word on the forum?) but am not sure how valuable it is generally. Both bikes are relatvely young and still have some Yamaha warranty so not concerned about being able to spot a defect with the ABS. Any comments or a…

Hi guys, It's been a looooong time since I've posted in here but, having got rid of the TDM (much against my will), I'm now considering alternatives to help get my fix back. To that end, I have been offered a pre-Divvie XJ600 C, 1991 vintage with 8 month's ticket and 20000 miles. It's at the wrong end of the country but is cheap (£550), so becomes affordable, even for a pauper such as I. Has anyone got any knowledge of this model or opinions about it? Any weak points I should be aware of? For that price, I'm not expecting a concourse machine. However, I'd like a bike that at least had a bit of go in it, plus something that isn't too small for my long legs. This …

I bought a 2010 V-Star 950 Tourer today and there was a tool kit bag in one of the saddle bags with 3 tools in it. A spanner wrench of some sort and two other items I couldn't ID. This isn't the standard tool kit under the seat that comes with wrenches and such. Any idea what these are for?? Thanks for any help with this.
