I know the difference between 125 and R6 and R1 for example... But Is a bike safe by the size of the tyres ??? I don't ride a bike yet, I am learning. I have however driven a car for 20 years + On the bike I am afraid of skidding off the road LOL so I was wondering if the tyres are bigger does it hold the road better

Whats the reason we have a pipe going from the throttle body into the air box. What would happen if i just put a cone filter on there and put a filter on the engine breather pipe.

After some years riding various 500 - 600 cm3 machines, I've recently bought an XJR 1300. Model 2005 / 2006, but very low mileage, had never been registered, full guarantee. Tyres are Dunlop Sportmax D207, pressure according to book : 36 front / 42 rear. I didn't touch the suspension settings. My weight is abt 95 kg. I've driven the bike for only abt 400 miles, always in quite cold conditions. Since the beginning I was not so sure about the grip on the road, specially on the rear tyre. When braking the rear wheel blocks very easily, and I had a couple of scary swerves. Yesterday I went out, temperature about 8°, rainy. On a roundabout at very low speed abt 15-20 …

Hi, I am looking at 50mm jack up dog bones, sorry to be a bit thick here, but does it mean that the dog bones are 50mm longer or shorter ? I want the bike to turn quicker, but I also want the rear end to be higher, with a bigger gap between the back wheel and the tail. If someone could explain this to me, and has anyone done this, and thought it was to high, should I go for 35mm instead ? Thanks.

Hi All, This is probably an old topic. But I am struggling to find a decent set of fairings for my 94 yzf750. Both left and right fairings are shot to pieces but the front cowling / screen, rear and underbelly are in good shape. Some people have had some successes with R7 or thunderace fairings, but I am struggling to determine how easy such conversions would be. It would appear that the thunderace fairings may be a straight swap but I would need to change the headlights.and screen? The R7 conversion seems more complex. Any directions, suggestions or images of similar projects would be awesome. Thanks

Hi All, newbie here, I have bought a 98 Thunderace with 5000 miles on it, the bike is mint, runs and rides like a new bike, I noticed something different on the left hand crankcase whilst cleaning it, on the left hand crankcase (as you sit on the bike) there is a blind hole that mirrors one on the right hand side of the crankcase, the one on the right houses the oil pressure sensor, the one on the left oaccording to pictures in the manual is just a blind hole, however my bike has a bolt in it, like I say it runs perfect and doesn't cause me any concern, just noticed this bolt ???????????

Does anyone know if the Thunderace was restricted to 125BHP like the Exup was? The Exup had a restriction moulded into the inlet rubbers, easily removed with a stanley knife to release the full power, a lot easier than fitting the ZXR750 carb tops like you had to do with the ZZR1100.

Specified r/min Faulty circuit 3,000 r/min Throttle Position Sensor (T.P.S.) 7,000 r/min Exhaust Ultimate Power valve (EXUP) 8,000 r/min Fuel level indicator Well my bike is indicating the codes 7 and 8, so I guess I better check the wires for the tank, as for 8 the exup valve and servo is gone so how do I stop the bike self diagnosing? Any help would be great.

I'm just in the process of buying an 'Ace. Dog bones. I have found sone aftermarket Dog Bones for the Ace which raise the rear ride hieght by 25 mm, this means that i wont have to drop the forks through the yokes and reduce the ground clearance. Are they worth it? Do they work? Does anyone have a set up proceedure for the Ace once i've got these Dog Bones fitted (or without)? I've used the Performance Bikes set up on my Blade and on a 750SRAD and it was pretty good, measuring static and loaded sag, setting up the preload using cable ties to mark what you use etc etc. I've not been able to find one for the ace though. There is an advert on Ebay for rebuilt rear s…

Hi, Looking to move on from my '94 YZF750 onto something a: Newer, b: More powerful, and c: better for two up touring. The only thing is, I want something that will satisfy my weekend warrior aspirations and scratch as well as the YFZ. I'm not a nutter but I would like something that isn't going to be left behind. I reckon the old ThunderAce will fit the bill, anyone got any comments or experiences that would change my mind or confirm my choice? Cheers, Lard

Hi all, My thundercat is now pissing me off..... I like to think that I'm quite mechanically astute, I do all the work to my bikes and cars myself and have built a mobylette in the past (I can't remember why!). My thundercat was working fine all last week, and when I came to start it yesterday the lights came on (as if its in first gear) without any ignition sound. I've charged the batteries, checked a number of fuses and still can't see a problem. Does anyone have any suggestions? Its doing my head in, there are no obvious issues with side stand switch or anything like that... Pie
