Hi everyone,ive just brought a 2001 r1 and ive got a poblem.when i let of the throttle i get a terrible rattling noise coming from the exup valve ,.When i pull the wire going into the valve it seems to improve the rattle.Any ideas what could be wrong?

I am returning to motorbiking after a long break and have dived straight in with a 2001 R1 Can anyone give some advice on how easy it is to ride, how forgiving it will be, power delivery, things to look out for etc? I have seen the early R6 can be a bit of a bitch and not very forgiving, is that just because of the power peak whereas the R1 has a better torque curve? Thanks

I have a mint 2001 R1 and this week I have given her new break pads all round and a new clutch and oil and filter ( from dealer) . everything was fine in fact better than fine , I came close to flipping it several times on the first outing due to no clutch slip etc . I put a new tyre on 2 days ago and again evything good but today I took it out and all of a sudden it's down on power . Once it's going it's fine pulls like a Train and anybody else getting on it for the first time wouldn't really notice . but now when I pull off in first where it used to wheelie like mad and the slightest flick now I have to give it loads . Hey guys, my 01 r6 started sputtering. Right around mid throttle, not accelerating, just holding steady, the bike sputters and feels like it surges. Feels like fuel issue, but when i rip on it i get No Hesitation at all. If it were a fuel issue i figure it would get worse when accelerating. Only acts funny when holding a steady speed. Changed the plugs,(needed to be done anyway) checked the gaps before installing. Still runs exactly the same. old plugs were picture perfect, just worn a bit. 13k miles on it now, getting annoying. Hope someone can help me out. Ignition/timing issue? Carbs just need tuned? Thanks again, Patrick

My 2001 R6 starts fine and runs until it reaches running temp. It then stalls and won't start back up until it has had time to cool down. Anyone have any idea?

hello, i'm new so not sure if this is the right section for what i want to know. i've just got my self a 2000 R6 but i didnt like the rear light so i'm doing the conversion from the 2002 model. i've got the rear light and under tray and now i've found out that i need the battery tray as well so i was just wondering is there anything else i need? also what kind of clips/botls do i need to secure the under tray? thanks Ro

I hope you guys can give me some advice. I am buying a 03 plate DT125 and want to de-restrict but my local shop is telling me that you cannot open up the power valve on this, they have said I can put a DEP exhaust on but that it wont make that much difference. Any suggestions?

Any thoughts on the 2003 R6? Particularly like the limited edition yellow and black model. Should I bother with this year bike just because I like the paint job? Does it have any bad habits? Are there any areas where it's better than the newer 2007 model? Thanks

Hi all, I have been browsing the forums for a while now but never really done anything about registering. Anyway, hopefully no one minds my first post being a hello and a HELP!!!! at the same time I purchased a lovely 2003 R6 with ~5000miles about 2 months ago. This is my first motorcycle and as for riding goes I won't say I am overly confident but do think I can handle the bike fine, but yes still getting used to it. When I took it from the dealer I just could not fault it. It rides brilliantly but present day I seem to think something is up with the gearbox. hello people, im a noob to the yamaha world and have bought an 04 r1, the underseat exhaust one, was wondering if anyone knows what horsepower this bike has, its a standard bike, no mods, some people say 160 and some say 180. its just a curiosity question as its plenty fast anyway lol, any answers would be great, thanks

Looking for some parts help. My son has a 2004 Yamaha V Star 650 Silverado. The other day after a ride he parks the bike and 2 days later he tried to start it. It would not start. It runs less than 5 seconds and quits. We have did the following. 1. Drained the tank and made sure it had fresh gas. 2. Replaced the spake plugs 3. Tried to start it with starting Fluid. I think maybe we need a new fuel pump and filter. Been on line and the prices got from $15.00 to $150.00 for the pump. I can't seem to locate the part number for that year and what do you guys thinks about the cheaper parts? Comments or suggestions please.

Which bike do you like? :? The R6 is still the bike I want cos' it's a Yamaha , but the 2005 Ninja just looks so amazing! 8) In terms of technology wise, the Ninja beats the current R6 hands down........but we'll have to see what the 2005 R6 has to offer.

Ha all, I have purchased a 2005 R1 and want to change the exhaust, Im not sure which one i want though because there seems to be 1000's out there and no real standouts. Blue flame seem nice but i cant find any real data on power increase or DB ratings. Yoshi? Arrow?

Hi guys, Riding in the rain the other day, had to go through a large puddle. Just after that I had to slow down for s roundabout. Got a horrible screeching noise from what sounded like the front end. I thought it might be the front pads because of the puddle. But, going home it did it again, no puddle, bone dry. When on the overrun again. I started to think exup valve. Did it twice today, similar circumstances. It only seems to do it once each way on my commute, but this is regular now. Any ideas ? I've lubricated outside the exup, are they maintainable ? Cam belt, chain wouldn't make a noise like that without being fatal I hope ... T.I.A Smoker

hey ive gt a 2005 R6 and ive noticed that when i put it into neutral and release the clutch i can here what sounds to me like the cogs slightly brushing togeather i was just wondering if its normal or if theres a problem?? cheers for any help!!
