hi all , would anyone know if a R6 downpipe , would fit on the xj6 09 model , the 2002 R6 did not have the cat unit , they are easily available and would allow fitment of an after market can at a cheaper than full system cost , the xj does use a de-tuned r6 unit after all , any thoughts , thanks loads , razz

Hey guys, just wondering if you could help me please? I have an 06 plate R6 (2005 model) and have just bought an Akrapovic slip on exhaust for it. I got it brand new for a really good price but it doesnt include instructions. I'm not at home at the moment so cant go and see the bike to try and make sense of it. I have fitted exhausts and things to cars before so quite good at the DIY. Firstly, can anyone tell me how the standard can comes off? which tools do i need? and secondly how does the akrapovic can fit? From what i can see i have the actual can, a link pipe, 3 springs and something which looks a bit like a jubilee clip. Is it worth going out and getting som…

Hi All! I've just signed up as a new member recently, hi to everyone and a very happy new year!!!! My query for anyone who can help is this; I bought my 2006 model R6 in Feb of last year. I fitted a linkage kit (as I am only 5ft 1") and this enabled me to lower the seat height by about 2 inches and I didn't have to mess around with the natural set up and dynamics of the bike too much. After that I thought, hey problem solved! There is hope for us short arse's out there! But not so, its seem's not only is my height a disadvantage to me but also my weight!!!!! (I weigh bout 8stone) I do not seem to be able to get the bike to react and perform they way its d…

Hi, Thinking of getting a new (07) R6. Have been on a couple of insurance websites looking for quotes and one in particular offers the R6 at approx half the cost compared to other 600cc sports bikes. I've checked that I've put my details in correctly god knows how many times. Personally I reckon its a mistake within the website and how it calculates the premium eg, when I put in YZF-R6, it really thinks I've said something that resembles a hairdryer. Do you think the insurance company can make me pay the extra if at some point after I've purchased it they realise the error. Do you think there is an error or is it me? I read an old review from 2002 that said '…

Today I had a look at a new Blade sitting alongside an R6 in David Jones' showroom. The Blade is tiny  , the R6 is, physically quite a bit bigger. The build quality of the Blade also seemed inferior to the Yamaha, particularly the quality of the paint and plastics. Times they are a changing! Only a midget could possibly be comfortable on the Blade.

Hey! I'm a fairly new rider with a years worth of riding! I currently own a 2008 R6 which is everything i thought i wanted in a bike! fast, pokey, great handling etc...! But iv just come into some money and was looking to upgrade to a 2009 R1 but is it really an upgrade...? I love winding roads which are abundant in my neck of the woods! Is my R6 enough? And would my relative inexperience hinder my riding on such a powerful bike? Basically I'm looking for general opinions on which would be best my R6 or a new R1? Pro's and Cons and all that...! Cheers.

New to this forum so first of all a big hello!!! Just looking for some advice really. Passed my test a few weeks ago and am now enjoying myself on my new R6. I know that its probably not the best choice for a first bike but to be honest I dont intend to drive it like a man possessed so think I will be ok!! My question is about carrying a passenger. Is it comfortable for both rider and passenger? Not looking to do long journeys - maybe about half an hour at a time. A friend of mine is pestering me for a go on the back of it (he is about 14 stone) so Im hoping it wont cause too many problems. Understand that I will have to take it nice and slow with a passenger which …
