hey guys, i got some strange oil problem with my R1 '01 (24000km). Last time i had an oil refill it was 2000km ago. The light is now again on red. This morning I had to add another 400cc of engine oil to bring it to the max level again. Anybody has suggestions what could be the problem. I drive very often on cold cuz i live in a small city where everything is nearby. Could this be the problem? Although I have the bike for 1,5 years and this wasn't an issue before. There is no sign of leaking or anything. The bike pulls normal. thnx in advance.

Hi All, I hope someone can help. I've just bought myself a 1999 R1 and have a question about the rear shock. The one on this bike looks to be an Ohlins in as much as there's a sticker on it saying so, obviously this could just be a sticker. I've had this model and year of this bike before but can't for the life of me remember whether an Ohlins shock was standard or not, can anyone confirm this? If an Ohlins shock is not standard then how can I confirm this shock is indeed an Ohlins one? Cheers, Tony

I have just bought a R1 and need to get tyres, Can any one reccommend tyres for a R1, I do a lot of miles so i need some that will last as long as possible !!

Ive spent all f*****g day fitting this, it already had an aftermarket undertray fitted when i bought the bike but it rattled, looked crap & it was hard to see the indicators so i wanted a new one. After looking at loads of them i desided on this one, but when it arrived it was slightly damaged, no screw holes for fitment, no fitting instructions and one of the led indicator bulbs was missing, but apart from that no probs . It has been the worst job on a bike ive ever done, it would of been easy to just throw it on but i wanted it right so have took my time cutting, rubbing, drilling etc & now its fitted i cant make my mind up if i like it or not. And of course like any other sane person in the world i immediatly want the coolest bike on the market. yamaha R1. Hi, I need a bit of advice really. I've got a 2004 R1 and I'd like to get another set of wheels for it so i can change them for trackdays, that kind of thing. I've seen loads of wheels on ebay for older model R1's, but very few for my model (well, not at the price I was thinking of anyway). Does anyone know if the older model wheels, say from a 2001 bike will fit mine? Thanks

Replaced the gas tank on a 2002 R1 and now the bike will only start with starting fluid. It will not idle or start on its own. Disconnected and reconnected everything many times. The pump is running and pumping fuel (93 octane). Only thing I did notice is that when I removed the old tank and it still had some fuel in it, the fuel pump lines were not plugged and it did not leak any fuel. With the fuel pump installed in the new tank, it leaks fuel from the main line now. This may or may not be an issue, but thought it was worth mentioning. I am totally frustrated. Any suggestions?

Hi all, I am in the process of building a streetfighter type thing and I need a bit of R1 assistance. I am using a speedo/ tacho from an early R1 and need to find out the wiring details for the plug that goes in to the back of the speedo. I have a plug but it is from a different bike so the wires don't match what is in the R1 Haynes manual. The plug is rectangular, and has either 16 or 14 wires going in to it. Can you help? I need the colours and where they go in relation to the plug, eg from the back, left to right and top to bottom, with the clip at the bottom. If you can help it would really save the day as the only other option is trial and error and I don't want …

Hi Guys, Newbie here, hope you can help. Tonight I took my 2001 model R1 out which I have just purchased. After an hours riding the speedo went blank, and then came back on and then went off again. When I then slowed down at a junction the bike just cut out and would not start. When I got it back into the garage, I tried to start it again, but I am only getting a buzzing noise coming from a black box with two screws on it under the seat. I had a look and it has denso 12V written on it, next to the battery. I think this is the CDI unit or starter??? Any help appreciated. Thanks Ian

Hi guys, I have a YZF-R125 My chain is rusty : ( How did it get like this ? How do i get rid of it ? I do lube it with some "Shell" Lube that the dealer gave me, do i need to do this more often ? Thanks in advance

I'm looking to do my full bike test soon, so because I'm 18 I can't do my direct access to a bigger bike without restricters, so I was thinking, if I got my R125 derestricted would it void the warranty on it? And anyone got any ideas what I could expect from it performance wise. and any recomended exhausts that would help. The bike is the 2010 model.

Hi all. I was riding to work yesterday morning, and all of a sudden, the display went blank, and the rev counter stuck at 5000 rpm! Am about to pop to my local Yamaha dealer to ask them to take a look and find out what's gone wrong. Have checked the fuses in the fuse box, and can't see anything obvious with the wiring - just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem? All other electrics work okay - headlight, sidelights, indicators etc - just nothing on the instrument panel, so I don't know when I'm in neutral, or if I've got high beam on, or if the indicators are running. Oh - and also no fuel guage or speedo... BTW, it's an 08, currently with 11,600…

Hi all, what the is going on with the R125 prices? Just got my cbt a few weeks backs, i thought id be able to get a new r125 for £2999 .. but its more like £3699.. I know demand is high but its almost a grand up on the 08 price. I wouldn't mind a couple hundred but it seems like yamaha are taking advantage.. what do you think?

Hi. I've an 08 R125, and have a question about the fuel guage I've recently had fitted a new set of dials under warranty due to the old set dying on me. Since then, the fuel guage seems to be at different levels at all sorts of random times. For instance, I rode 25 miles to work yesterday, knowing I started with a full tank, and when I arrived it showed that I had used half a tank full! Then by the time I'd got home again (another 25 miles) it was showing as empty. Then this morning, it was back up to 3/4 of a tank again!! Also, evey now and then the fuel guage flashes all seven segments at me, for up to an hour at a time, at random times. Is this something …
