Hi my name is jag I'm from Leeds united kingdom I'm 43 iv been riding for 13 years but only on a 50cc scooter, iv recently just passed my direct access 13/12/2013,because iv been wanting to get a proper bike. Iv been looking at the xj6fa for a while because I heard its a perfect for new riders and it's a every goof locking bike too. I bought my bike new April this year and I chose a blue because I liked the colour of it,since riding my bike iv clocked 3000 miles so far and love it it's so much out on the open roads, it's so much different from a scooter. I hope I am posting in the right place. I am not yet the owner of a Yamaha but my wife has a Fazer FZ6. I am poised to buy a FZ1 but am put off by several reports of snatchiness on reopening the throttle after closing at around 4000rph. I have been riding a 2004 Cb1300 and that is snatchy on take up so I dont really do 'snatchy' any more-fed up with it! So does the 2008 Fazer still have this problem? Also I am used to galloping up to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds on the CB any idea the corresponding figure for the Fazer FZ1 I can't see it quoted anywhere. Any help on this and any other comments will be most appreciated. PS Sorry I do have a Yamaha- a SR400 imported …

Hi everyone im new here and have a few questions you may be able to help me with..... Very pleased with my first bike, an xt125x (until i get my full ticket) but have a few issues with it....... firstly the headlight seems to be awful.......and was wondering if there is a aftermarket unit or halogen bulbs i could buy? (maybe the unit from an xt660 is better and could be fitted? and second, where do i get a performance air filter from? i've already fitted a full arrow race exhaust, made the acceleration better but not much top end........i have had a look around the forum and yes, i know they are very slow and not much can be done to make them faster..........but hey, eve…

Hi, I am new to R1 although not new to bikes. I have been riding a R6 for some time now, but recently shifted to R1. The model is 05 (2nd hand )done about 3000 km's. I wanted to know from experienced people the following. 1- Why does R1 have more mechanical sound from the engine than R6. 2- Why is the engine of R1 so rough at low rpm's as compared to R6. Is the mechanical noise / roughness normal or there is something wrong with the bike. Best regards, Sanjay

Hello, I recently acquired a 1987 Yamaha FZ600, I'm still waiting on the title though, so I might wait to work on it anymore. Anyhow, it leaks oil from underneath, couldn't this be dangerous if it were to drip on the rear tire? Or is there something to prevent that from happening (splash shield?)? Anyways, the previous owner says the engine is from a 1991 Yamaha grand prix or something, it's supposed to be a race motor. It sounds like it's got an exhaust leak at the manifold, I may fix that or just drive it for now as I plan to convert it to 100% electric later. Also the clutch slips on harder acceleration, but I've read in the manual how to adjust it, it's probably j…

Hi, I just bought a 2007 Yamaha Virago 250 a couple of weeks ago. I'm getting back into riding after 25 years away. It's a nice little bike for getting back into the swing of things. I do have a bit of a question. After about 20 minutes of riding, my hands are numb. I'm not gripping too tight and I am wearing gloves. Where would one go for a set of better grips. I was thinking of just putting foam grips over the top. Other than that, I am very pleased with the machine. It appears that not many aftermarket items are out there that are Virago specific. Thanks for your time.

Hi folks, Picking up my new XJ6 Diversion tomorrow, and was wondering if there is anything I should be doing to keep it tip-top. My previous learner YBR suffered some pretty bad pitting and exhaust rusting in just 5000 miles, but I know it is a more cheaply constructed bike. I've heard of people going to town with ACF-50, is that something I should be looking into? It'll be used for a daily 2x30min commute in whatever the Surrey weather can throw at me :-) Cheers

Hi, I've just got a new XT660R. What a brilliant bike, I've necer had so much fun on a bike and I've had 27 in my 40 years of riding. The only dissapointment is the scruffy plastics: lots of little scratches and poor paint finish. Is this normal on trail/adventure bikes? I've only had road bikes up until now. I don't know whether to complain or not. The other one in the shop - the supermoto version - was also marked up. Any advice/info appreciated. XT Alan

I was just given a 1981 XS400 Special II by my brother. It only has 2,300 miles on it. The history behind the bike is rather interesting. It was purchased by a friend of my brother in 1986. At that time it was still in the crate. He rode it for less than two months and sold it to my brother. (They were both in the military and he got reassigned to another country and didn't want to take the bike with him.) My brother rode the bike to his home town, about 200 miles away. There it sat until he got it on the road again in 1994. He rode it the entire summer of '94. He subsequently lost the key and never rode it again, and now it's mine. I'm pretty excited …

Hi, my bike since new has this strange vibrating noise around 5000 rpm when accelerating especially on low gears. Something is rattling. I eliminated most obvious things like: plastic terminal covers on front break handle switch, loose fuse box cover underneath the seat, also under the seat set of Yamaha tools I removed temporarily, starter slide button as well as indicator switch seem wobbly, but I taped it for a ride and that didn't help, I also checked the buzzer. No luck so far, and this noise is pretty annoying. Motorcycle have only 500km on the clock and in the middle of beak-in process. Interestingly on the YouTube review I'd watched before I bought th…

I've just got my YBR today and I know I have my first service at 6 weeks.. unfortunately I'll be back at university by then, but there's another problem. Manual says don't take revs over 6000 before you've done 600 miles... I'm going to need this on the A roads down from Surrey to Southampton at the end of this month... Will I really damage the engine if I do this? Also I'd need to run it back up here to get the dealership to do my first service... Any help would be appreciated.
