Ive done them on my old yamaha r1. Then again it was a light bike and very easy to do. Now i want to do it on my 1987 yamaha virago(frame). But the engine is a 1997 yamaha Virago xv1100.(thats what the person i got it from told me) The engine number is 1te-003563 cant find anywhere to see what year or information on that engine. Never done one on a cruiser so i need some tips I want to try to a small wheelie(maybe a few inches off the ground) until i get use to the weight of the bike to go higher. 1) Do i have to actually attempt to life the bike with my arms or should it lift on its own 2) what gear do i get the most torque from ( assuming this is where i n…

I have and 86 fzx 700 in pretty good shape except that the exhaust is dinged up and has some rot in bad spots, does anyone still make an exhaust for this bike, or should i just buy new header pipes and something like universal slip-ons. I was also considering k&n filter and a jet kit. I'll appreciate any help or opinions anyone wants to offer.

  5. I have a 1982 Seca 550 that will not start. I am currently trying to pull the timing plate off because it appears to be damaged. But as I turn a wrench on the integrated nut it also turns the crank. I put the bike in gear thinking that would stop it from rotating...no it did not. Cn someone help me on how to take the timing plate off of a 1982 Seca 550? Thank you.

Hi, just thought I'd post up an intro. My name is Cat and I have been riding for two years now and love it, about 8000 miles under my belt, ridden a Honda Rebel 250, Shadow 750, and Ninja 500. My brother just gave me his old '84 FJ600. It will be my project for next year (putting together a custom Honda hatchback this fall/winter). It has about 22K miles and ran well when he parked it several years ago. I guess a rather large friend of his stretched the chain and my brother parked it. It will need: chain, tank (beyond repair), fork seals, pedals, re-sealing the top end, and either new fairing or stuff to make it a streetfighter. The most work I've done on a bike is…

Hello everyone, I bought and FZR 1000 this past year and the shocks are completly thrashed. I really need help getting the shocks fixed. I looked up a few and I am not sure what options are fisable. It seems the best option is the OHLIN shocks. http://www.oncycles.com/browse.asp?departm...ory=sfy_fzr1000 This is going to cost me 739.00 plus tax. However i saw another company Hagon produces a non gas shock and i am not sure if this absorber will work on my bike. I have already purchased from JC Whittney and they sent me the wrong item. Can anyone tell me if this Hagon product will work for me? http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo.aspx?ca...;tier3url=Hagon IF not what m…

  16. Hey everyone, I'm new here and I have my first Yamaha. I bought an FZR on the cheap in bits. It had almost everything with it I wanted on a custom bike. I can tell you now I am having some annoying but maybe not serious problems. First of all I had to re bleed the front brakes, that is sorted. The wiring loom wasnt earthed properly, horn didn't work, speedo wasnt wired up (electronic), headlight was still in the box, swingarm hadn't been fitted, radiator needed fitting and needed MOT. If you look at the pics you will see it is all going fairly well. The swingarms on, the lights are on, rad and all that jazz. I have a question though, are the 88 Genesis models su…

decided to spend the day sprusing up the xj's suspension. the back shocker was cleaned/greased etc.. but the most noticable thing i done was strip the forks, clean them all out, put fresh heavier oil in them and way hey, loads better. apparently the divvys are quite soft in the fork department too so i'd say it's worthwhile doing this to them also. to put it bluntly, the forks in my xj were soft as sh*te, the bike feels 100% better now. good days fettling highly recommended 8)
