Hi all i would like to first introduce myself, my name is Billy and i live in the North East of England. I dont yet have a bike but am looking to buy one over the next month and would like some help choosing, i was browsing different models and styles and fell in love with the Dragstar xvs 125cc what a fantastic looking machine lots of chrome and leather. I am 6.2ft and 15 stone and wonder if this bike will be a little small or underpowered for me and if so can they be modified to give more power etc. As much information as possible on this bike would be very much appreciated. Thanks Billy

Hi, I'm on the point of buying an MT03, and I don't think it has a 12v lighter type socket for a satnav or heated gloves etc. How big a job would it be to fit one do you think? Is it even possible? tia

Hi Yamaha guys, I recently got a DT125 Yamaha Enduro for free, it didnt run. I saw a picture of it on facebook, and was interested, because my dad had one just like it when he was a teenager. I didn't want to pay a lot for it. I saw the guy a few weeks later and told me if I really wanted it I could have it. So I went and picked it up on Sunday. My dad took a good hard look at it, and he reconized the knobby front tire and the yamaha sticker on the oil tank, it was his old bike! I believe it had three owners after my dad. It has a lot of senimental value now. My Grandpa bought it for my dad new in 1974. I guess you can say its back home.. On Monday myself and my frein…

to start off im new here, this is my first post.. so if im posting in the wrong area or anything, i apologize ahead of time anyways, i just recently got a free 1976 xs360, with 6,xxx miles. the bike was sitting in a garage for over 10yrs... but it seems to be in farely good shape.. almost no rust, paint/decals are in amazing condition and the tires even "seem" to be alright. the lady also said it ran fine when it got put away. i knew it wouldnt fire, so i didnt even try... ive already went ahead and cleaned the gas tank out, removed the battery, pulled the plugs and changed the oil. i figure itll need the carbs cleaned also... just wondering what else i should do befor…

Good morning all, My friend gave me a 1976 600 (or so he says) I tried to call the local dealer with the serial numbers but they couldn't help me. I have yet to see the title to verify the size. The bike is in o.k. shape and does run. I had to clean and separate the points to get it to fire. It idles o.k. but wont wind all the way up unless I am very easy on the throttle. When it does rev up and I let go of the throttle it takes a long time to wind back down to idle. I am hoping the some one can let me know what the point gap should be. Also, I know that it would be a good idea to take the carburetors off and clean them but I am not sure if there are allot of hard to fi…

Hi there,I am new member here and I wanted to say hey to everyone, I also had a few questions about an XS 360 '77 that I am going to be purchasing tomorrow. The bike was purchased from seller with 1000 miles on it about 8 years ago. He said when he purchased it was in near mint condition, but a couple years after he purchased it, it was stolen by some crack head and the guy punched out the ignition and messed with the wiring pretty badly. Also, apparently the crack head decided to punch out the gas cap as well. The bike was finally recovered and has been sitting for some time now and not been ridden but it does have good compression and all parts are there. Being that it …

Aloha from Hawaii everyone, Newbie here. I just bought a 1977 yamaha XS 360 and I'm about to embark in a project turning it into a cafe. I am one hell of a tough time finding the HEADER part of the exhaust system. My header pipes are rusted and butt ugly. I've tried eBay, but found pipes are just as bad as mine. I've ran into a lot of exhaust stuff from MAC systems but are all for the XS400. Now here's my question. Does the XS400 exhaust/ header pipes fit on the XS 360? Please HEEELLPP! Any leads to good stock header pipes and mufflers or aftermarket exhaust would greatly be appreciated. Again, the question is: Does the exhaust system (headers and muff…

Got a 1979 xs400 F project chopper. I was wondering if anybody knew the length of the fork tubes (with the sliders off)? I need to add 2 inches to them and didn't know if there was another fork set out there for 33mm tudes that had a longer length or if there is some sort of extension I can get. The carbs situation...I've looked thru all the threads on carbs and can't seem to find what I think I need. I need the pilot and jet sizes for the original carbs for this bike. I'd like to rebuild the whole thing, just don't know what sizes to get. I'm thinking of putting on the pod style air filters and don't know if that will affect what sizes I need. Now for the ignition…

I need some real talent here fellas. It has nothing to do with the gas. I have drained my carb bowls, checked the petcock.......I have taken the carbs off and put them back on. I AM GETTING PISSED!!!!!!!!!! Once again, the bike will start and run when resting on its kickstand. Then once you tip the bike up, when about level the bike dies. I am at a complete and total loss. Is there something in the engine maybe, like a screen for the oil. Something clogging when the engine is tilted? I don't think it is a water issue now, considerin I washed the bike about two-three weeks ago. PLEASE HELP ME, or I am going to set some dynamite onto this f*cking bike!!!!

I have a 1979 1100 XS My problem is (No Spark). I replaced with new the following parts so far and still No spark. Ignition Key Switch Coils. Complete wiring Harness. Been thinking about replacing the ignition unit (Black Box )thats located under the seat mounted on the frame. But,was told that the ignition unit hardly ever goes bad.Was told that the cycle shop can sell me one .The cycle shop said (but why should I sell you something you don't need). I'm getting power to the coils. I only get spark at the end of the last stroke everytime I crank it over.Sparks once. If I hold one of the spark plugs while touching metal on the bike I g…

I have a 1982 Maxim 550. When I first got it, we were able to get it to start by spraying starting fluid in the sparkplug cylinder. Now it only turns over but, won't fire. The battery and all spark plugs are new. Any ideas? Valves? Coil?

Last week, after a bout with an electrical short, a flooded engine, and ultimately a dead battery (and a lot of 4-letter words) I had to take my car to work. The next day, I tried jumping it off my car and after a an hour and a half and getting it running (but not idling), I called it quits. The next day I came home from work with a puddle of oil under the bike. The engine was dry underneath, so I took the exhaust system between the engine and the turbo and there was about a quart of oil in it. I read somewhere that it's a symptom of a bad check valve in the turbo oil loop, so I checked that out and everything was good. I filled the oil back up, got it started an…

Greetings, The question below pertains to my 1982 XS400 Maxim. The bike was running fine the last time it was used so I'm thinking there's something stuck in the fuel system. Was curious if someone could provide some suggestions after pondering the following symptoms: Bike sat for ~3 months without being fired Got the bike to warm up but, oddly, the motor will idle very high (3-4k) when the choke is 'off' and the idle will come back down to something more normal when the choke is engaged. Basically the opposite behavior from what you'd expect. I don't believe there's kinking or snagging in the throttle cable as throttle operation seems pretty snappy still. Is …

What the heck is the "heritage special"? How does it differ from the XS400, the XS400 SE, or the XS400 Special? I'm looking at a 1982, and I'm wondering what its specs are (is it DOHC? dual front discs?). Thanks, Eric
