Hi guys and gals, As you may know, I got bashed off my bike a couple of weeks ago. The wreckage has been inspected and given a Cat-C write-off (too costly to repair), with the recompense valuation being insanely low - I couldn't even buy half of an FJ with what the Glass guide supposedly says. My own insurance obviously will be pushing for a payment that would get me a replacement vehicle, but needs evidence of actual market costs. I'm having trouble finding many for sale myself, so does anyone know of any similar bikes going? Needs to be an FJ1200 3XW model 1992 onwards, ideally with mileage around the 45K mark. Many thanks, Tasky.

Hi guys got a letter saying I had to declare my XT off the road and post my tax disc back to the DVLA. I then noticed the letter was sent from ASKMID and not the DVLA. Do I just wait until I heR from the DVLA or sorn it ASAP? I've never done this before so all advice appreciated. Thanks

hey everyone, Have not been online for a while been busy at work & trying to get the bike clean in areas that have been left to build up a mass amount of grease... anyway after spending what seems like an eternity wiping excess grease/chain lube from around the chain runner/front sprocket/all areas near there with a tooth brush (not my current morning use brush) & some gunk, I took a step back admired what was now looking clean & with it being a warm sunday got it out for a quick blast. got back and had another look at the front of the engine just behind the exhaust & OH MY DAYS! looks like it has got all 11,000 miles of dirt...grit & crap off …

  9. OK boys, girls, kings, queens and all in-betweens.... I have FINALLY managed to get the 650 Dragstar down to most of the basic component parts, enough that I can start polishing and painting frames, sub-frames and all that. The question is what to do with it... It's originally the standard black & chrome colours of 2001: It's a sorely used & all-weather-abused bike with almost 50k on the clock, and will be up for sale as the SWMBO owner really wants a Hornet-like bike. While checking sale values, I saw this: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201307047645719/sort/pricedesc/usedbikes/cc-to/700cc/cc-from/600cc/model/xvs/make/yamaha/page/1/…

Or would any dot 4 be ok? Sorry if that sounds stupid in anyway I have done a quick search & nothing came up. Shaun

  11. I've always wanted to do one but I wasn't sure if it was worth the cost. I'm not doing it because of the "possible" reduction to the the insurance premium but to better my riding skills I guess. It's apparent that's not always the case since I did Pass Plus for driving and there was no reduction to the premium with it (even though the insurance company has stated that they do). Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) caught my attention and they do a course, test and one years membership for £139. The only worry now is that I'm still riding around on the XT 125 X which struggles to obtain 70mph on the motorway. So I might just have to wait until I move up because I thin…

  14. I own a Yamaha FZS bike, now four years old. I'm experiencing problems during revving up the bike to high speeds. The engine gives up suddenly, the throttle doesn't respond(like what you face when the fuel tank goes dry), but the fuel tank is full, battery is recently charged. Then I need to keep the bike idle for around 10 - 15 minutes, then the engine check light blinks and then i can start the bike again but not for long when this happens again. I have changed the whole electrical wiring twice now but doesn't seem to solve the problem. It works good till a week after servicing the bike, but then this starts again. Please guys help me out to fix this.

Here is a question that is again a bit noob, but something that you may like to indulge in a little. What do you do on a weekly / monthly basis in terms of maintenance / checks and cleaning?

After rebuilding my stock standard Elsie I was a little disappointed it just won`t power wheelie thru the powerband no matter how much I ring its neck. Not comfortable with it as I prefer doing power wheelies (find them easier to control), but thought I would try slip the clutch in first to see what happens. WHOAAA..must say it surprized me how quick she reared up. Need sum more practice...

hi everybody, so as I was doing a little spirited driving with my dad here in Carlsbad, California I noticed something peculiar. Okay, I know very well that a 1996 VFR 750 has a much more powerful engine, powerband is suffitiently different but where the hell is our power band? In 3rd gear I feel a little umph but mostly across the board the acceleration is just blah. Now, it does seem to have a good deal of torque in the lower gears so I'm able to pull through a turn (or continue to pull through, since I'm on the throttle all the time right? ) but where have you guys noticed the power band sitting at?
