Hello folks, first time poster . Need a bit of help. Just before lockdown, bought a YBR125 2009 for commuting to work. But been working from home and the thing has just sat there since March. Tried to start it, battery dead unsurprisingly. Bought new battery, tried it today. Turning over fine, but not firing at all, not even a gasp. Spark plug is a bit black, has a spark, difficult to tell if it's a good spark tho (I'm not very good at that). I'll get a new plug for it anyway, change the air filter. Previous owner was young lad, seemed pretty responsible but never can tell. It was running fine when I bought it though, I took it for a spin round the block w…

My dad was a despatch rider during the 2nd World War. I have a couple of photos of him with his bike (I'd like to identify the bike one day and maybe get one (probably can't afford it)). So I heard a few of his war stories centered around his riding. Which always stayed with me... Then, years later, I came across the Yamaha TY80 https://www.classicsuperbikes.co.uk/catalogue/Bikes-for-sale/Yamaha-TY80.html This is the first bike I ever rode, back in... Errr... Let's say late 70s... Possibly early 80s... Probably... My little cousin had it, being slightly older, I was allowed to take him down to the beach with it and a spare can of p…

Hi all - can anyone give me an idea of a realistic alternative radiator for my Thunderace please? I'm fed up with aching wrists from the clip-on bars and heavy clutch so have opted to possibly junk the fairing and fit more upright bars. The reason to junk the fairing is the mirror supports are going to clatter on the higher, upright bars. This has led to the discovery of an awful lot of rat's nest wiring on show along with a radiator that's designed to be hidden behind a great big fairing which if removed reveals it in all it's glory with bit's and bobs poking out all over the place. Or should I just remove the standard mirrors (and supports), trim t…

The top of my DT 175 cylinder head has a port for the spark plug going in vertically, but it also has another port going in at 45 degrees (blanked off with a bolt). The only thing I can think of is for a decompressor which if I remember rightly was to help kick over large engines, and I seem to remember as a young lad that some of the trials bikes had decompressors. So, what is that 45 degree 2nd port for, and how are decompressors used when riding trials bikes? The correct answer wins a good feeling in the pit of their stomach, haha. Doug

HI All Looking for a bit of help, recently bought a bike after not been on one for 40 years, its a Yamaha WR250F 2018 model, which has run great until now, last week I was out and it missed and spluttered and finally stopped and would not start, after leaving it for about 15 minutes all was well and it got me home, changed the plug which looked ok, done a few more rides out and all ok, so I thought maybe I had some dirty fuel. anyway went out today and it just cut out, engine warning light was flashing 3 long followed by 3 short flashes ,it did start after leaving it for a bout 30 mins, just looking for any help at what the problem may be Many Thanks …
