hello, recently i purchased a 1999 Yamaha SR 125 off ebay for £450. and i need some advice as things seam to be dodgey, it was supposed to come on saturday however the owner couldn't find the V5 and so it has been delayed, i later found out (after he rang the DVLA) that no V5 had ever been issued and so this was the first one and therefore free, i have asked for the MOT certificates as i want proof that it is MOT'D. also when i tried to get a quote for the insurance using the registration plate the insurance company and comparison website stated that the registration plate and bike didnt exist, i tried doing a text check on the registration and again nothing, however upon…

Hi All Just bought a 1986 DT125 as a project. It's been sitting in a barn for 15 years! The number plate is missing and there's no v5. Is there a way of finding this out from the chassis number? Shaun

Hi... I am after some advice. As the wife is expecting our 2nd nipper, she's gone off the boil on the bike outings (SHAME!) so a local lad has expressed his interest in buying my XJ600f 1989 pre-diversion. Only problem is the bike has 72bhp and he needs to restrict it to 33bhp... is this possible with this model and if so, where does he get the parts from? How much will it cost? THANKS.... You are always a mine of info. on the site..... I love my bike, but she's going, going and nearly Gone.... (I AM offcially very sad!)

Hi guys, I'm Bas from the Netherlands, i'm not currently owning a Yamaha. But i'm hoping to get myself a 2005 TZR50 next week. I do own a bike, a 1982 Puch maxi. English isn't my first language (dutch is obviously) so if you catch any grammar or spelling mistakes, just say so and i'll try to improve my Enlish! I may not own a Yamaha but i do own a 1990 Mazda 323F. In the UK better known as a Mazda Astina. It's up for sale currently because it is, engine wise, a total mess. It was that way when i've bought it. and i've been tearing the poor thing down even more. Racing with no coolant or oil in the engine (because it was leaking everywhere!) But when I will have my TZR5…

Hey guys, With my MX boots on i cant get my stoopid huge size 13 pasty in between the peg and shift lever properly. i have moved it round on the splines so it sits high enough for me to fit my foot under, but its way too high and the action is far from smooth as the lever is sitting way beyond where it is meant to be! Also having a lot of accidental changes as a result of this. I can change just fine with the lever in standard position if i am wearing trainers, but this really isnt a good idea when im off road eh! What im after is a Longer lever, so as it does not have to be so high, that way i should still be able to get my boot under it and change gear and even…

i recently bought a YBR125 and i'm getting more confident at cornering and stuff now, i find myself at full throttle most of the time and when pulling onto the dual carriageway i'm accelerating up to about 9500 rpm in 3rd and 4th to get some speed up. i'm just wondering if this is thrashing the bike a bit hard? most of the time I'm sat in 5th gear doing about 60ish mph (indicated) at about 8000rpm. also the bikes only done 3600 miles, is this past the running in phase or is running in a thing of the past these days? thanks for any advice, being a newbie i'm a bit unsure as to how much i can push it without breaking it! Rob

  7. having ridden bikes for more years than i care to remember, you cant help feeling that the experience has lost something as time has passed bye, speed cameras everywhere etc, etc.i have also spent hundreds of hours building/repairing bikes & have craved to do something a bit different for a change, something over the top - and so was born THE COCKROACH !!!!!! as the name suggests,it was never meant to be a thing of beauty, but it is meant to be over the top.basically it started its life as a 2 seater kids/adult 8hp automatic offroad buggy but it has since evolved into 750cc beast.i originally bought it as a clapped out project for £200-ish & have spent a month or so …

Anyone ever been doing something, and needed to nip somewhere fast or do something fast and the tools available for them wasn't there? I was thinking earlier about toothpaste, and its use as a chrome polish. Has anyone else got any uses for random everyday stuff, that comes in real handy in the workshop or on the move? Anything at all, substitutes for bike care items would be great. 1. Toothpaste - Chrome/Metal Polish 2. Tampon/Screw Driver - Gets at oil in hard to reach places 3. Vinegar/Soda Crystals/Lemon Juice - Eats off rust, ready to paint! 4. Aluminium Foil/Coke - Removes rust/marks and polishes chrome. 5. WW2 issue P-38 Can Opener or Dough - Dont…

Hi, Looking to replace the piston in my DT175MX when I get the barrel rebored, but a genuine Yamaha piston is £100, with rings being £40. The bloke at Webbs of Eye said that patent pistons have a nasty habit of imploding or shattering after a few miles or so due to the square exhaust ports. Now is this marketing BS or is he talking sense? Because it's a lot of money between the patent part and the original. It's money I can afford but money I also need for other things. Cheers, Harry.

The EU are trying to pass a few new regulations onto motorbikes this will stop 1.All modifications to complete power train, from airbox to controlling the rear tyre profile 2. Compulsory ABS 3. Automatic headlights, just to pick at our riding habbits there 4. On Board Diagnostics so that roadside checks can be made of our emissions and constant readouts of our engine's performance can be obtained, this is similar to a tachograph on HGV's which means that they will know how we ride our bikes 5. Repair and Maintenance Information stored on the ECU rarther then the little service book 6. Any race parts fitted to a street going bike illigal 7. full day-glo clothi…

Hi, cheers for reading, I have had an ongoing problem with my Dt, I fill the radiator every morning and check expansion, always plenty in the expansion tank, but after riding for 25mins I allow it to cool and check coolant levels, there's always some in the expansion but the radiator looks empty! I have flushed the system and checked for leaks, but it looks like the overflow is just pushing all my coolant out! There are a few splatters of coolant under overflow outlet, is there anyway of solving this? I have run out of ideas now. Any help is appreciated, Cheers Toby
