Well i have been whizzing about on a scooter while waiting to find a decent bike.. The bike is nearly finished but i am changing the clutch rollers on the scoot as the old ones were knackered.. My question is when i took the old ones out they were covered in grease.. Are they supposed to be greasey or should they be bone dry??.. i will add the grease looked pretty manky so it may not have been put there deliberately.. Any ideas fellas?

Help please! I'm not sure what is going to be best to start with. I know I will need a new gasket, but after that I don't know why else I may need. Basically the clutch is slipping through all the gears, even 1st and 2nd, suddenly 'kicking in' as if the gear wasn't quite engaging. I've looked on eBay and there seems to be several different options - clutch plate kit ranging through to complete assembly. Can anyone tell me what is going to be best for a relative novice mechanic (previous experience on lawn mowers only) to try first? Other than a garage that is!! Cheers, Andrew

I bought a set of new clutch plates for my DT 80, and I tried to do the change yesterday. But when I remove the old clutch plates, in the basket there was 5 clutch plates and 3 washer plates (between two clutch plates one washer plate is missing) . So I was wondering is it ok to leave it like that, or should I look for washer plate? Worth to be mentioned: one of the old plate (where waser plate was missing), was broken. I`ll put an image when I go home.

Another week another problem on the YBR front. When pulling away it's almost impossible to do it smoothly, you can get the cluch so far out before a loud clunk radiates through the entire bike and the clutch engages all at once. Weirdly though, it only happens once it's warm, and gets worse the hotter the engine is. Been wracking my brains and I can't pinpoint it, the chain is adjusted and lubed perfectly, the clutch cable and lever where both replaced 2 months ago. Can't figure it out, worn out clutch plates, broken gear tooth, bent clutch rod, worn clutch/drive-train? Anyone got any ideas? Don't know what's caused it, I've been changing the oil every 1000 miles re…

Been doing them since last Friday going home from work and it's really smooth! I only do them when accelerating hard though, as I tried to do them while going at normal speed and the gears just doesn't want to go in. So if I'm not accelerating hard doing town riding and stuff, then I use the clutch to shift. Also, I've been blipping the throttle when shifting down too, works really well especially when it's wet as it stops your back end from fish tailing when their's too much touque in a lower gear shifting down. Do you guys do this? And is Clutchless upshifts OK for my bike, it seems a lot smoother than shifting up using the clutch.......so I guess it…

rHi Guys So I'm wanting to start working on my XVS950 myself instead of paying someone else to do it.... Whats the best way to start learning? I've seen the Clymer Service & Repair Manual but is this any good? Would it help a total noob get started and be able to do things like replacing brake discs etc..? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everybody I'm new here , got myself a XJ900F 3 years ago , and have had some fantastic trips to Norway and the Alps , on it. Now the exhaust needs CO-adjustment , and I was hoping someone in here knew where to find the right CO % for an -87 model. Haynes manual dosn't mention anything about it. Cheers Steen

I have a R6 (53 plate) which has suddenly developed the dreaded TPS (throttle position sensor) fault, basically the engine keeps cutting out luckily this has only happened while idling usually sat at lights in neutral, I've spoken to my local yamaha dealer who initially told me there was a product recall on my model, I've also read various posts on the R6forum detailing the same problem, one particular guy had a major accident due to the engine cutting out during an overtaking manoeuvre which resulted in the poor fellow clipping an oncoming car and is now unable to ride ever again! After speaking to Yamaha themselves apparently the R6 was never recalled with this problem i…

Okay..the cold front moved through this week and temps went from 80F to 58F in the day and down to 39F tonight....I plan on riding as long as I can...or at least till Im probably snowed in. I got a balaclava today. And have been wearing leather riding gloves, Plus my gortex thinsulated coat. The only problem Ive had the past few nights has been my neck and chin getting the chill between my helmet and jacket..so the balaclava should take care of that...my main wonder is. When it gets down to 30F or lower...what do you guys wear to keep warm...Im thinking of long johns next.
