I'm wondering where are you allowed to park your bike in say a city centre? Can you just chain it anywhere where there are no double yellow lines? what about pedestrian areas? what about in the photo below could you chain it to the metal fence? is it ok on pavements? is it ok to chain it to a lamp post at the side of the road, but leave the bkie on the pavement side, so its not on the yellow lines? Do you have to pay for parking in car parks? where have you been fined for parking without realising? thanks in advance for any info!!

Ok I have just got back from a trip down to Portsmouth, about 230 miles, and it normally takes about 3/4 of a tank there and back it's mostly motorway and dual carriageway so average speed is around 75/85, the bike is 30+ years old so not thrashing it, anyway yesterday it used 1 1/2 tanks of fuel which is way over the normal amount I have checked for leaks and split hoses (nothing) even looked in the engine oil to see if it might have drained down into the engine sump but no extra fluid in there or smell of petrol, so my question is were did it all go? I have cleaned the carbs in the winter and balanced them checked all the jets were ok & flushed the tank filter, ig…

Think it's the coldest morning so far this winter, just arrived home from work. Luckily I've borrowed a nice toasty Furygan jacket from my old man, kinda as payment for storing his bike for the winter! Thought I'd just say I hope everyone's safe out there this morning!

I hope the bar is the right place for this thread. I have got four jackets and several trousers as safety gear. Somehow the mastermind behind those clothes does not have a key to his house and he always pays using credit cards. Why I assume that? Because there is no pocket in the pants (or it's so small even a pocket watch would fall out) and/or the jacket lacks a for my wallet. So, I always have to do the same: Remove the bench, but the wallet there, but the bench back on the bike. Short stop for fuel, sth. to eat -> same procedure again. I am not the only one with that (tiny) problem, so someone in a german bulletin board posted his solution: He…

I just picked up an 89 FZR1000R for £250. Needs some work, but all there. Got loads of EXUP parts so plan to have it on the road march-ish. got a lovely SP Engineering end can on it, a new chain (still in the packaging), 2 new tyres, had oil and filter before being taken off the road, blokes back has gone. They are starting to appreciate, so hopefully fix up the top fairing (i have the same one, unpainted, someone gave me), insure it (£98 with no NCB) and have a usable classic. The only worry is my garage is now full to the brim....

Ok would like to pick your brains please, as some of you know I have just got myself an FJ1200 which to say the least has been a bit neglected, every nut bolt and fixing is as rotten as a carrot and generally rusty and crusty, don't think it has been cleaned in the 20 years the PO has had it. What I need to ask is what type of paint should I use on the frame, I'm just about to take the engine out and refurb it and that leaves me with the chance to get the frame painted but not really sure which way to go with it, I repainted the XJ a few years ago but that was a bit time consuming actually about 6 weeks work and the thought of another 28 layers of paint makes me think it'…

So I had my first spill coming out of the Wallasey tunnel tonight. Bike decided to do a bit of acrobatics while I was braking, think I hit a spot of oil or something. I'd wondered whether I needed all the padded/kevlar gear with "just" a 125 YBR, but after landing on my shoulder and sliding along the floor at 30mph I now understand why it's important! A bit bruised, but I'm intact, so I guess the gear did its job. Bike wouldn't start at first, was just getting the engine light, but after about 10mins of catching my breath and cursing it fired up like nothing had happened. Handlebar is a bit bent, and the right indicator won't work, but otherwise it looks largely intac…

Hey peeps. was browsing eBay looking for my old DT50, came across this, it looks so sad how could someone just leave a bike in a hedge? (unless it was nicked i guess), the tank has literally rusted through from top to bottom!

I have a 2014 , yamaha xj6f. It's done 1500 miles. I've had it from new and haven't dropped it. I've noticed that sometimes it seems to have a slight oil leak. It's not all the time. I can't see any residue any where. The position of the oil on the floor would suggest that it is coming from the fuel overflow pipes. I can never see it leaking and it's there when I return to the bike. Any ideas of why oil would be leaking from there? Has anyone else had similar problems?

Hi all, Enjoying a ride up in the cotswolds recently a thought came to mind, PUNCTURE ! what if I get a puncture in the middle of nowhere, I've got breakdown and recovery etc but I am wondering what you lads or lasses would suggest as a " get you home / garage " type solution. From when I used to ride many years ago I seem to recall a can of foam type stuff ?? I could be dreaming tho. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions from you time served people. Many thanks, Inpar.

Whipee, Just found out I have won two tickets to this years Silverstone MotoGP. I entered the MCN Fantasy Road race competition, I was top of the list for the first few races but didn't realise until I got an email yesterday that I had come top in the first Game round as I wasn't really looking at the emails I was getting with the results. Only thing now is working out the logistics to see if me and the wife can actually go... Any one else going?

Hi! I just signed the petition "Peak District National Park Authority: We call on the Peak District National Park Authority to stop imposing Traffic Regulation Orders on our Green Lanes" on Change.org.
