Hi all, I am rebuilding a farmyard-find 1982 Xt125 from the frame up and have decided that it is probably worth converting it to 12v as I will be fitting it with all LED lighting (all original lights/clocks are missing) My question is: Which Regulator/Rectifier should I use? should I just go for a 4 wire generic one? I have gone through what remains of the loom and surprisingly, apart from the switchgear and ignition switch areas it is mostly complete and looks in reasonable condition anybody done similar?

Hi guys, so got my first bike on the road and after some subtle mods and some new parts, shes looking mint, i've decided after 2000miles and not knowing its past that its time to change the chain and sprocket set i was wondered if changing the front sprocket from a 14 tooth to a 17 tooth would make any difference at all? Thanks for your help! Ollie................ DO not worry! just read an interesting post about 125 sprocket changing, which has lead me to think, get it, its only a 5er but keep the old one in case this ruins my gearing and possibly top gear pulling power..... Thanks.

Hi my son recently bought a XT125 2005 vintage with only one ignition key which he has now mislaid or lost, he has bought a new switch for a 2007 model as the correct year one is £70 dearer in the hope it would fit without too much trouble. We have now found that although they both have 6 wires from the switch , they all go to one multi plug on the new switch but some go to a separate plug on the switch on the bike, does anybody know if its possible to splice and shrink wrap the right wires from the new switch to the old wiring, if any idea of wire colours it would be a help as we have no wiring diagrams.

I Hi I'm new to the group. A friend recommends I tried the forums for some help. I have a couple of bikes I'm trying to repair. I need a donor engine for an 05 xt125, so either a Xt or ybr engine. I already have two 05 (I think) engines but they both have slight differences, different connections and amounts of wires coming off the stator plates. So I'm hoping someone out there has a manual or a link for a wiring diagram to help me either source the right engine for a straight swap or perhaps I can get away with swapping the connectors over. Thanks in advance.

Hello, Im new to biking and this website and I'm having a few problems with my recently purchase 2009 XT125R. It always had problems starting by electric start and sometimes needed kicking over. However the battery will not charge and is permanently dead, I get the dash and lights when the engine is running, but occasionally I do loose it for a few milliseconds. I have used a voltmeter and the battery is around 10v when the engine is not running and struggling to push 12v when running. when I rev I don't seem to get any more voltage so believe its not charging at all. I have recently changed the front bulb to halogen bulb as the standard one …

Hi I have been tasked with sorting out a problem with my nephew's Yamaha XT125R. The problem is, a garage has had a look and didn't fix it and now I have been given the bike plus the bits of clutch in a bag. I think I have found the problem, its the push rod, it seems that the end is broken. Does anyone have a breakdown on how to remove it or a workshop manual I could download. Thanks

Hi people, I've been creeping round the forum for ages but never needed to post, thanks for all your ideas before and hopefully someone has some yamamagic tips lol.... bought a non runner 08 xt125r, did the top end rebuild using all genuine parts... the barrel was within spec and not warped. only thing I noticed was the second ring gap was about 0.05 mm too small, but hey I installed it anyway.... had reset the carb to stock settings... new oil... she fired up straight away, 75psi compression, but after going ride for about 5 mins it felt crazy hot so came home checked temp it was 130C.... now ive set the pilot mix 2.5 turns …

Hi... Late last year i acquired an XT125R as a project for me and my step-son to be to rebuild and 'bond' over the Christmas break. However, what with the very cold weather we are only just thinking of starting on it. The history is that I have got an unridden/unregistered frame (2005-2007 i reckon), an engine, complete wiring loom and most, ifnot all, the elctrical bits (relays, ECU, etc).... The problem i am finding is that despite having a Haynes manual, i am struggling to work out where some of the components/hoses go.... Is there someone out there who has a XT and a digital camera that can help me work this out by taking some detaied shots of there bike to show…

I run my bike out of fuel and can't get it running again. I've cleaned out the air filter and what I presume is the fuel filter, checked the needles in the carb and flushed it through with fresh fuel and cleaned out the fuel tank. Had it running a few times but had to keep the revs up for it to stay running and it won't start at all now. I'm all out of ideas now and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what it could be? Thanks in advance Oliver

Hi, can anyone tell me how to reset the display on my '05 reg. XT125X. It was serviced around 200 miles ago by a local independent workshop who are not able to reset the display. I don't really want to have to take it to a main dealer as that will probably cost a small arm and leg. I would appreciate any help/advice on this. Thanks John
