Morning all, I’ve just recently bought a 1978 XS1100, I’ve managed to get hold of Macho Maroon paint and am about to start a restoration of the bike, here is my question, is there anyone in or near the Kent area with a similar bike, as I would like to have a look at a couple of things that isn’t showing on the Haynes manual, anybody help?

Got my xs250 to restore, most things look good, bit the first thing I've noticed is that the seatpan is quite bad. Anyone know where I might be able to get a non rusty seat pan for a 1980 xs250? Also , would an xs400 seat fit?

Hi all I am still having trouble with my 1977 XS250 starting. The bike is a standard 250 with matching engine and frame numbers but has 400 barrels and head, the carbs are standard 250. First of all I was convinced it was the carbs but after exhaustive work on them and speaking to other people I am now not so sure. My last efforts were to remove the starter motor and have it checked, that was ok. Then someone who used to own one and had done the same 400 top end swap suggested changing the condenser(s). I done this Saturday and still no joy. Any theories would be welcome as I am running out of ideas.

Just bought an yamaha xs360, everything is in great shape but I had a problem with the clutch. I went to pull in the clutch while stopped in my driveway, heard a pop, and looked down at the clutch cable which had popped out of the push rod assembly and casing. on further inspection and removal of the case i found that the spring connected to the worm nut was stretched out and had little to no resistance. I have since replaced it, put the clutch cable back in, case back on, but now i get no resistance on the clutch lever, i can pull it in but it won't engage and there is no resistance. I have little experience with bikes in general but I'm trying to learn anything is helpf…

Just purchased an xs360 and i could get it started but I have to give it gas to keep it going, if I let off the throttle once it's started it dies. I'm hoping this is battery related because when I try to start it back up it won't turnover, when I trickle charge the battery for a while it will always start up first try just won't stay running. help please!

Hello everybody, Well, I'm new to the forum so be patient and read few lines of intro and then e few question to which I hope to find the answers. I'm 29, and recently came up with the idea to ride again, and by riding I don't mean commuting but touring, some daily and maybe longer journeys, something like 200-500km/day. At first thought about a BMW K75, but because of license restrictions I changed and began thinking about e Varadero 125... BUT lastly fate came to me in the shape of a Yamaha XS360, pretty much identical to the one in the below pic. I read a bit about it and the idea I got is that this is a pretty good bike, not like K75 and the Varadero,…

Hello all! My 1st proper post. I'm putting together an XS400 DOHC Maxim/Seca thing. Major worry at the moment is the petrol tank - I just don't have one, and it'll be a real job to find one in the UK, I think. I've been offered one off an XJ750 Maxim. It looks the same shape as the pics I've seen of the 400. Does any one know if it's more or less the same size? I don't mind if it's a bit big, just don't want it to be hooooge! Thanks

So I've had this bike for two years now, I'm doing a ton of maintenance so it will hopefully be problem free this summer. Mos of this stuff I've never done before so this quite a learning experience for me. Anyways my current problem is that I'm trying to check and adjust the contact points for the ignition but mine looks nothing like it does in the shop manual I have. Does that black piece of plastic need to be removed or is this an electric ignition? Heres a picture, thanks in advance. http://img546.imageshack.us/i/engine1.jpg/

If anyone ever needs to know, a 750 Seca/Maxim petrol tank fits straight onto a XS400 Seca/Maxim frame :D Can anyone recommend a good mail-order dealer for Yamaha parts? I just need the 3 tank mounting rubbers now! Cheers, Zed
