Hi there , I am new here , and I could do with some advice , I recently found a XS 1100 for sale. It is a 1976 model with 18000 miles on the clock. It is a good looking machine , what should I keep in mind and look for with a machine that is as "old" as this one . Paul.

i have 78 xs 1100 have got xs 1100 special carbs are they compatable? any answers please!! because the bike wont run!

Does anybody have any tips on how to stop the bike cutting out on tickover. The carbs have been rebuilt,fueling checked and the tickover speed altered, now at 1600rpm. It still cuts out after riding and then stopping at lights and is difficult to start again.

Does anyone know where i can get a pair of exhaust flanges for an xs 250 ? Also does anyone know if a pair from an xs 400 would fit ??.

I managed to squees the old girl in the shed to start the clean up, Many hours later the wife pops in, "there's a funny smell in here" she say`s, NO SHIT, might be, Petrol, Oil, Turps, Paint, polish, OR ME, There's bits of bike all over, I bet she`s in there tomorrow with a duster, New of course, God love her, And all such girls, Mark.

I have an xs 400 bobber in a gpz550 frame . having major problems trying to get the xs400 motor to idle properly. It either wont idle at all or revs it nuts off . I have cleaned the carbs but no change . anyone come across this before and has anyone any ideas ?

I HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT XS 400 CUSTOM 83 MODEL WHICH IS A US IMPORT FOR RESTORATION BUT IT SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD WITH A MONO SHOCK COULD IT POSSIBLY BE AN ACCIDENT REPAIR ????????

Hi everyone, Does anyone know where i can obtain a fuel cap for a tank on a xs 400 custom, I have tried an after market product which fitted but would not close, As i understand a lot of these caps look the same but are different sizes can anyone help??. Regards

i just bought a xs 400 special thats requires a little work but i can only seem to find parts for the xs 400 i was wondering if i can put those parts on my bike.

hi guys had a yam xs 650 in my younger days and would like another, need to get up to speed on what i should be looking for or at! ive got an 883 tractor at the mo (dont knock them they just need to be "understood") i,m looking to shoot the harley out and maybe get an xs as a project. any advice very gratefully recieved (its been a long time since i had one!) hope you can help cheers johney

I have a 1977 xs 750 and I do not have the final drive dipstick. I have tried to get one but I wondered if anyone had that they could measure for me and I will make one. Cheers Daniel.

I recently bought a 1977 xs 750. I have rebuilt the carbs as they were in horrible condition. The bike sounds great now, but it dies as soon as i hit 3,000 rpm. I'm not sure what the problem is. Recently bought a lovely XS 850 and everything in the garden was sweetness and light until all the indicators packed in last weekend. No problem it's the fuse I hear you say. Sorry no. A bulb had blown so I thought the flasher unit had bit the dust as a result. Where is the f***ing thing. Found the cancelling unit and loads of other stuff but no relay/flasher unit. Please help a poor demented old soul..

Right the XS400 is 99.9999% done now and it`s time to get it MOT`d taxed and insured (he says hopefully) when i first got this, it was a pile of dismantled junk, pretending to be a couple of 250`s and a 400 engine. now it almost looks and goes like a bike . i put the 400 lump in the 250 and we went about getting it to go, and after a friends magic touch and a lot of his knowledge we have a bike thats ready to go back on the road. so i know i have to inform DVLA..... is that via the log book when i take it off sorn? will i have to have it inspected because the engine capacity has changed. can i ride it to the MOT station by prior appointment, even though i hav…
