hi all, bought an 83 xv 500 a year ago, picked it up in glasgow. rode it back to norwich, found out from a previous mot it came from lowestoft. since buying it it seems that this nice little machine does not exist. haynes say it doesnt in their handbook, any spares website i go on do not list it.. which may explain why the maintenance has been poor. are there any more xv 500 riders out there? please tell me i'm not alone. i need to find out where i can get parts. most pressing is an airfilter. paper type it's got sport filters but hasnt been rejetted so runs a little rough at tickover i also need rocker gaskets and clutch side gasket. theres a small leak when warm not he…

Hey yal! I need help with this 1997 YZF750. There seems to be no timing marks on the cams. I have timed cams on hundreds of other bikes. The only marks I see are a couple of 5mm holes drilled half way through the side of the far right hand(as you are sitting on the bike)cam lobes. There are no dimples, arrows or stamped lines on the sprockets. I spoke with 2 veteran Yamaha technicians and they both said that there is a line on the camshaft that will line up with a line on the top of one of the cam journal caps, as you look down from above. I took the camshafts out and inspected them closely as well as the caps. Guess what. No lines, dots or arrows. I do remember timi…

I am currently experiencing problems with a tight rear wheel. Brakes, bearings and drive chain all have no problem. Drives under load for first 500-1000 yards then goes free. I've recently had an oil change...could the oil viscosity be causing the problem? I used the manufacturers recommended oil. Has anybody ever experienced such a problem? If so, please let me know what I can do to solve the problem. Cheers Big Ears.

HI I have just bought a fz1 and wondered if any one has seen a taller screen that fits and looks good .The one that is on is not to bad but after 95 it gets a bit to much for my neck .I do not fly round at vast speeds all the time but i have a weak neck and find that after 95 it starts to get quite uncomfortablewind at speed

HOWEVER i am currently in the market for a slip on set of cans and was wondering if i bought them from overseas will they still fit my Australian supplied bike?? i got some prices for several exhausts here in OZ and they are all terribly expensive, even purchasing from overseas and costing in around $100 in freight i will still end up approx $400 ahead. hi all just spent some hard earned money on a 1990 xtz 750 and all seemed well initially (great fun bike ) starts fine but after 10 mins or so of riding perfectly on the 3 occasions i have riddden it , closed throttle going into corner and serious misfire has started and continued all the way home . bike ticks over ok but blipping throttle on and off eventually just coughs and dies . any advice will be greatly appreciated filters are new , have plugs to fit tomorrow. regards martin

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO FIT A 17” FRONT WHEEL FROM A THUNDERCAT, BUT WHICH SPACERS, SPEEDO DRIVE AND DISCS DO I USE? I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT THE FRONT BRAKES CAN BE IMPROVED BY FITTING THE BLUE SPOT CALLIPERS FROM THE R1 OR R6, ARE THESE A STRAIGHT FIT?
