Cheers, Also of this has already been discussed please can someone point me in the right direction

Hi, I am about to buy my first bike and haven't got much experience with bikes - so far have used scooters on an odd occassion. I guess when one turnes 40 some marbles get lost - or found :-) All my mates say I should buy something up to 250 ccm, and hope not to end up under some truck. Also, they say if I buy small bike with something like 150 ccm I'll get bored in a space of a week and long for something bigger. Since I prefere custom and choppers I thought about Virago 250 and managed to find one locally ( Croatia ) for some 2000 euros. It's a bit old - '93., and it's got 40000 km on the clock ( some 25000 miles ). It's not too heavy and it's easy to handle - …

Is it right that you can't change a Virago 535 plug leads without having to change the coil ? This seems very bizarre to me...but that's what I have read ???? Cheers Stuart

Hi Folks... As a fairly newbie sort of returned rider, with little or no mechanical skill, I was wondering about potential service costs on my 1994 Virago 535... I plan to take a short trip to France in June with a mate, and although my bike seems to run pretty well, I thought maybe I should get it serviced before I go....having said that, it had a service (oil/plugs /filter etc) just before I bought it 18 months ago, and I have only done about 500 miles on it since!!!! Any ideas of the sort of costs I could expect, also what sort of work should be carried out??? Apologies for my ignorance!!! Cheers. Stuart

Hi, I have a problem with my son's (restricted) 535S Virago and I've torn out virtually all the hair I have left in trying to solve it - so I hope someone out there can help: 1997 535S twin carbs and everything bog standard apart from the restrictor. 1. Original fault was not starting after a lay-off over last winter: Stripped down the carbs and changed the petrol pump because the pump wasn't 'ticking'. It was neither of those but the bike started after that - first go as I recall. 2. Now starting OK but:- Poor performance - no power and wouldn't go much above 50 mph in any gear. It seems to reach a flat spot: Inspected the diaphrams and fo…

0-60 times are really hard to come by for most bikes so does anyone have any idea with the XV750 Virago? Sorry if this sort of thread already exists in the forum but its really hard to search as the search system doesn't like '0 - 60' or '0 to 60'

Hi, Does anyone know if there would be a problem fitting a Yamaha XV535 1990 that has a model code of 2YL with a genuine exhaust that has the 2GV code? I would also need to reusing the rear pipe heat shield from the original 2YL model.

Dunno, got a txt today from a trusted friend Dear All Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam: A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone c…

Hi There everyone. As the bad weather stars to come in a problem i have allways had with my visor is it steaming up and wala in seconds i cant see a thing. Now i know about Pinlock inside visors but i just cant afford one. There is riding with it slightly open but then the wind hits my eyes to hard and i have to keep blinking and you loose the water seal at the top of the visor and as most helmets go the ventelation system is... well crap. I currently have a basic Nitro skid lid and ive never owned an expencive one so i dont know if mor expensive visors work better but i cant afford one. Is there any other way to make it so it doesnt steam up as i go along or will i…

I had to bin my pinlock insert the other other day. My first one was clear and it was spot on. My second was a tinted one because it was a lot cheaper to buy an insert than an actual tinted visor. Not that it would be a very sensible thing to use now the weather is turning into winter and darkness is upon us. I'm just unsure whether to get a clear one or a yellow one. I fancy getting a yellow one but to be honest I'm not even sure what they are used for? I'm under the impression they are anti glare or something, so will be safe to use in the dark? Does anyone else use one?

Ok so yesterday I asked some questions about the vmax and got the answers I needed. The HD vRod is out the window and I will be buying a vmax. However I have a question on rear wheels that some vmax lovers may know the answer. How do I put a bigger wider rear tyre on the vmax, what wheels do I need as limited to shaft drive? I'd like a 180 on the rear, does anyone know how to achieve this?
