  1. Yes, yes, there are more ways to skin a rabbit, lubing your cables-Yamaha recommends that you lube your bike cables every 4000 miles , and of course most of you will be 'adhering' to your Yamaha owners manuals anyhoo, here's a gadget that some of you might consider adding to your growing arsenal of 'kit', everyone has their own way of doing things-here's just another option available. Its 'medical kit' in essence, so if any Y-O-C members have access to this stuff (Goff its in the operating theatre and accute trauma side of the hospical )- then obviously you can make your own. Its re-usable-should last a lifetime-requires no dismantling of cable …

hi peeps i have an ultra short pipe on my 2001 R1,(bloody gorgeous) on a run last week the rev counter was reading 7000-zero, but it cleared after a few miles. the manual says this is an ex-up valve problem, it says it may cause engine damage ?? how serious is this, was thinking it is not recognising the short pipe i have got on, just dont want to fit the old pipe back on it, (well not until the first POOLE meeting anyhow. cheers rolls

Headed to my local breakers this saturday again for few bits & bobs but gonna have to restrain myself. Last time i was there I spotted an FZR1000, has been streetfightered - fully polished frame, aftermarket exhaust, nice paint job on the tank (kinda dark cherry with pearl finish then tasteful flames airbrushed on) Someone had spent a lot of money on this! Little or no damage to this, think had been stolen & recovered. Will struggle not to enquire when i'm there! Just wondering what interesting things people have found in breakers etc?

Hi everyone. I am relatively new to this type of forum stuff, so bear with me... I've been reading quite a few topics though, and it seems a great system for sharing ideas and info. My problem / issue is this:- my bike starts fine and goes well, but occasionally, she will simply die in mid-flow... It is as if I have turned the engine off. It's quite like a fuel starvation, but I know fuel tap is on etc... I have noticed that the kill switch on the right handle bar seems dodgy... sometimes works and other times nothing but a click. Then, after a few momoents standing, and several clicks on the kill switch... off she goes again with no problems until the next tim…

Im selling my szr660 on ebay and wanted to post it in the 'for sale' section in case anyone was interested. Didnt realise you had to upgrade membership to do this. How do i go about doing this? I clicked on the link given and it took me to a newspage nothing to do with membership? Wouldnt mind being a member as will definitely come back to the yamaha clan in the future.

hi all i bought my bike only last week and i love it but im stuck because my headlight bulb broke. i removed the screws holding the headlight in place, pulled out the light and removerd the rubber part on the back of the light to access the bulb. once i removed this i seen that the person i bought the bike off had used a wrong bulb and had copper wire jammed in the hole to make the connections so the bulb would work. since then i have ben looking for the right type of bulb i need but i cant seem to find it anywhere. apparently these bulbs are meant to be H4s but the bulb i need is like a bayonet type (like the ones used in the house) but this has 3 prongs rathe…

  15. Hey folks! Just wanted to mention that the Market Tavern in Stroud town centre, Gloucestershire is a biker friendly pub! The owner is a biker and the barman is a biker!! Anyway as summer is coming and many people will be out on their bikes!! they cater for any occasion and more importantly welcome anyone who favors 2 wheels over 4! It is an up-market pub with a well sized beer garden that has parking for up to about 30 bikes (I think!!) You could even park outside the front of the pub if you wanted to, However it does get busy from about 9am-2pm on a Saturday. A fantastic stop off point for anyone who wants some good English pub grub! They have rather distu…

  16. Dear All My first post. Thanks for your posts on R1 fuse box, it helped me re-wire my bike after some fucker nicked it last week. Thank God for Tracker and the Essex police. However, my steering lock and ignition barrel are broken. So Im guessing new ones of those plus petrol cap and keys. Im not a mechanic, or technically minded. Just passionate about bikes. 1)Can someone tell me exactly which parts I need for my R1 07 to get it back on the road (as u can now start it with anything)? 2)Why cant I find these items on ebay/forums? There must be crashed bikes out there. 3)It didnt have an alarm, so im guessing no immobiliser. Could a thief like mine jump on, …

Well, another week another worry! After getting the knocking sorted from the rear of my 'cat I have now noticed on the way into work this morning that there seems to be an extradorinary amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust. After trawling the internet I am getting conflicting advice, some say it could be head gasket/broken cylinder whilst others say it could just be oil being burt off. The oil was changed as part of a service I had done when the chain was replaced, could it be this at fault? Cant afford another huge repair :( Any ideas lads??

Just bought a used 07 VStar with 5k miles. After about 100 miles the speedometer stopped working. The rest of the gauges/odometer/lights all work. The manual says when you turn the key to "On" the bike does an electric check and the speedometer fans from 0 to the far right and then returns to 0. Mine no longer does this. I have checked the fuses and they all appear fine. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?
