hi guys got myself an xj6n im somewhat tarting up and looking to get the headlight cowling and belly pan(the standard factory fit black one) colour matched. my concern is the belly pan and whether the paint job will last.. its a pearl white paint so gonna cost me £100 to get done so don't want to spent that much money if if its just gonna get pitted and destroyed by debris after 6 months ,anybody had a belly pan sprayed before? did it stand up to the rigours of the elements?? ....cheers

Hey all, When Spring shows its face I'm going on a road trip! I'm using this trip as a chance to build up my experience before working towards my full license. Also, I found last years 450 mile jaunt so much more fun than the car (despite the speed, constant rain, fog, cold and navigation of non-motorway roads!) I'm in the planning stages at the moment. I don't yet know when and how much time I'll be taking off work. What I do know is that I've narrowed it down to Cornwall. I'll be cleaning and servicing the bike before leaving, but I was wondering if you guys could let me know what sort of things I should carry in my armoury for bike maintenance? So far I'm think…

  4. Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I have been interested in motorcycles for years but it wasn’t until recently that I started looking into purchasing one. My budget is low so I was looking into a totaled bike and fixing it up. I started visiting salvage yards and I noticed that about 50 percent of the bikes had sliders on them but the bikes were still getting damaged. I thought the whole idea of a motorcycle slider was to save your bike. What I believe people over look the fact that by adding a motorcycle slider you are GREATLY increasing the force of the fall onto one point; your slider. So I have designed a spring assisted motorcycle slider. I have researched spring…

Spring time An elderly man was walking through the French countryside, admiring the beautiful spring day, when over a hedgerow he spotted a young couple making love in a field. Getting over his initial shock he said to himself, "Ah, young love... ze spring time, ze air, ze flowers... C'est magnifique!", and continued to watch, remembering the good old day's that he'd once enjoyed. Suddenly he gasped and said, "Mais... Sacre bleu! Ze woman she is dead!" before heading off as fast as he could to the town to tell Jean, the police chief. He arrived at the Police Station, out of breath, and shouted, "Jean...Jean...zere is zis man, zis woman ... naked in farmer G…

Hi All I would love to put springer style seating on my Midnight star (XVS950a) but need to keep two seats as I regularly carry passengers. Does anyone know if you can put a springer style seat on the rear? If so, how? Cheers Marc

Hey there fellow Yammers. Quicky for you which will probably make me sound a bit daft (I am). I want to change the chain and sprockets on my Thundercat and fancied going down a tooth at the front for obvioius reasons. Thing is, I dont know how many teeth there are to start. Plus when you buy a bike specific kit it would come with the standard sprockets. Any suggestions? Thanks folks, Andy

Hi folks...has anyone ever filed/sanded down the sides of their tyre so that it's less squared off? If this is a really bad idea then can someone tell me why. Also is there a way of getting the shape back so as not to have to buy a new rear? All help appreciated. KW

Hi guys, I've got the bike going into the shop on Friday for a good overhaul; getting some engine bars fitted, new chain/sprockets (front sprocket +2 teeth, as per MarkyBoy's experiment), got a new 100 jet, new brake lever, indicator stalk, oil filter, air filter, and a partridge in a pear tree... Anyhoo, today driving into work I noticed the rear brake squeaking at low speeds when light pressure was applied... is this something sinister? Cheers all John

.....is the sound my rear wheel makes when rotated slowley whilst up on the centre stand. Hey Folks, I've check the wheel for play as best I can and it appears to be fine but I had just come back from Glasgow so I'll check again tomorrow. I've had a quick search for this type of sound it mostly points towards a bearing, any thoughts? If it is the bearing starting to go how far gone is it? I've changed a front bearing before but never attempted a rear. Hope it's not beyond my skills! Cheers in advance peeps

Has anyone ever experienced a mis/backfire and done all the usual, carb clean, replace plug, etc, but nothing changed, the fault was still there. I have read in some forums, of this, and the fault turned out to be the CDI unit. Could this be true and if so any ideas of where its best to look for a CDI for an M plate SR 125 unit. My unit is an early model with 2 * 4 way connectors. The ones I see on e-bay are 1 * 6 & 1 * 2 way connectors. Any help greatly apprciated. Thanks

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has converted a pre-1999 SR125 (mines a 1998) to the post 1999 chrome speedo, which I think looks much better? Have been doing some research into it and from what I can see from the schematics, the top steering yolk looks completely different between the two models. Not sure the '99 ver will fit my '98. Has anyone done this, is it possible? Many thanks, Clive
