I was at work today and I got a phone call from my mum saying the police were at my address and that they had pulled over a van containing my bike. The pricks had come into the car park (Shared by Leicestershire police) and put the bike in their van. They managed to make it 3 miles with the bike before being pulled over for looking shifty as f**k. I have posted my place of work and the fact I had a new bike on this forum, and I do wonder if they have been scouting on here and decided to come and collect it. Needless to say, I will be chaining it to a lamppost from now on (When I eventually get it back from the police) One of the guys has been caught, and the other 2 ran o…

hi.. Just bought a TDR250 and looking for someone to re-build the engine......its only done 8,000 miles, but been standing for 17 years in a dry garage... So, I want the crank-seals and the other seals renewed, and possibly needs pistons, or just rings....don't know! Don't want it tuned, just standard....... Also, I want to paint the head/barrels/crankcases......... Looking for someone who maybe works from home who is a 2 stroke nut, or ex-racer etc. Stan Stephens looks very expensive.... I'm nearish to Gatwick, but willing to travel...... Any ideas? ( pm me if you wish?) thanks, Richard

I hope the bar is the right place for this thread. I have got four jackets and several trousers as safety gear. Somehow the mastermind behind those clothes does not have a key to his house and he always pays using credit cards. Why I assume that? Because there is no pocket in the pants (or it's so small even a pocket watch would fall out) and/or the jacket lacks a for my wallet. So, I always have to do the same: Remove the bench, but the wallet there, but the bench back on the bike. Short stop for fuel, sth. to eat -> same procedure again. I am not the only one with that (tiny) problem, so someone in a german bulletin board posted his solution: He…

I know the old sweats will have experienced this first hand but i thought i'd put it up while its on my mind. We do seem to have a lot of new riders even with the draconian learner restrictions. All you folks wizzing around on your first love, after a very long spell of basically dry weather the first time it rains in whatever part of this damp land you live in the roads will become incredibly greasy. Like riding on a hard winter frost, more so in inner cities. Just be aware

I decided to get a pack of 3 for the weekend so I got these In case it rains I thought I would try and cheer things up a little. A piece of tarmac is standing at the bar chatting up twin zebra crossing signs. He is boasting how tough he is. “I am the toughest road in the world” he says. “Everyone is scared of me” The twin zebra crossing signs giggle. “Cyclists, car drivers and truckers are all scared” he says. “I even scare Yamaha riders” At this stage the girls are getting a bit wet. The next minute the doors of the pub are kicked open and a slab of red tarmac walks in. The red tarmac shouts “I am the toughest thing in the world”. The loud mouth piec…

Daft really but my daughter is now a strapping nigh on16year old national level hockey player rather than the tentative 13yr old on her first trip, end of last year I replaced the chain on the tdr. Before squires, so basically a new rear tyre and a c+s set . Well with daughter now a very proficient pillion my c+s is about fkt in under a year, around 2k miles and the rear tyre is burning up fast. My poor little tdr is doing more work that it was ever designed to. We go out and I don't really have to worry about her on the back and, well, give it some. Good job the new wheels are going on soon so changing sprockets and chain, may go up a chain size but god knows h…

hello there yammy owners of the world-im kenboon,im new and i got a problem.so here goes- ive been given a yamaha virago xv535 1993 as a gift say, and i aint got much experience when it comes to bikes or the mechanics of a bike.the problem with mine is since i last started it ive noticed that the engine closest the front forks aint warming up nor is its pipe back to the exhaust pipe box, whereas the other one heats up and runs as normal, which leads me to the conclusion the bike is now only running on a single engine of the twin set.also shes cuttin out now even wen warmed up. can anyone add anything to this -the cause of the problem-how to fix it-any info at all much a…

Well, today I decide to pop out on the bike for a bit. The kids were cranky, the missus too. My old lady is still knarked I missed mothers day, c'mon. Docs want me to go for a CT scan after the ultrasound a couple of weeks ago. Yep, with that lot I figure grab the keys and destroy a few more ozones. Nope, 2 mile out the village she goes all flat then drops on to one cyl on all but flat out, great! the bloody idle jets AGAIN. Something she seems prone to. Get home, (exhausts have to come off to remove the carbs unless you have double jointed hands that work backwards) exhaust gasket knackers its self and I don't have a spare......(&*$$) lh carb idle is blocke…

Some know already but , well sometimes things feel like there is a higher order. On the vmax forum there was a fellow selling a set of carbon dymag wheels, i saw the advert September last year time but had neither the money or the need at the time. Fast forward, months of covid lock up, (i keep a little slush fund to pay for my biking which has just gone up through last year). Then the drive hub shat its self and the crap that followed. Well i stumbled back across the wheel add, no comments on the post, wheels had low miles, maybe a couple of thou. With tyres and such and with them being cheap, for dymags, i sent a message on the off chance. Well f me,…

Not much to say, however a picture paints a thousand words or so they say.... I don't really have much experience in bikes as such. It just strikes me as a little strange to have pipes exposed at such length with no apparent destination. If they are breather pipes, I would have though they would be tucked away a little better. Somewhat concerned of course, given it's our son's road bike. Reassurance or advice welcomed! Thanks.

Can any one give me some help regarding sorn notice , i have had my bike of the road for about 10 years, i have fially rebuilt the bike and are nearley ready to put it back on the road, the bike was put on a sorn in sep 2000 i have now found out that the sorn should have been renewed every year but this was not done, what is the best way to go about this as i can see me gettig a fine and having to pay the back tax, there must be 100s of bikes in bits in people garages that are in the same postion as me, do i come clean with dvlc or act dumb as i thought you only had to put the bike on a sorn once and not every year any help would be welcomed.

Hey, just trying to order some nuts and bolts for the Aprilia and got myself in a cunfuxed state. I know bikes are nominally metric fine, but! I don't actually know what that is . Im seeing 0.8 coarse, 0.8 fine etc. But then there is 1.0 and 1.25 also in both coarse and fine. Feels a stupid question but what do I actually want. I have just got generic catchall kits for UJM in the past, never really thought about what metric fine was as such. I have all the big stuff, its all the abused and random or just plain missing bodywork and plastic mounting stuff I'm after. Not all that much maybe 20 units all told all like, 30x6 and 20x6 flanged hex's, with…

Not been on for a while and missed loads of posts... Been in and out of hospitals etc many times thanks to the National waste my effin time with no regard to your Health Service... But... SR engine completely stripped down to nothing, crankcase rebonded, all gaskets replaced, everything cleaned to a shine and oiled, and she runs!!! Annoyingly, doesnt like idling again, which is the problem I had and rectified before... Then took it to pieces again :-S I have noticed though if I apply the tiniest mouse fingered throttle, it idles like a dream... Throttle cable has a wee bit of play too, so should I just tighten it a little?
