The FJR is a great bike - brought me back to Yamaha after many years... The standard seat is OK, but need something comfier for long trips. Anyone know how to get a comfort seat without having to be without the original for several weeks? Incredible that these things can't be got off the shelf given that the FJR has 28% of the US touring market and is pretty popular throughout europe too. Its possible to buy a comfort seat from the USA (Yamah make one and sell it there), but the cost including duty is £420 - too steep for me. If anyone has either an original 06 on seat or a bagster etc for this model, I'm interested in buying... Thanks Hedgehog

noticed that my seat is quite a bit on the rusted side of things.. wondering what seats will fit the bike straight off as it seems to be a bit difficult to find ones for the rsx 100

I have a Seca 2, 1993. The tail light has gone out recently, but after attempting to replace the bulb, I discovered that it still didn't work. With both bulbs the brake light continues to work. I feel that this is some kind of wiring issue, but after thumbing like a 3rd grader in graduate school through my service manual, I don't think I know the first thing about checking the wiring. I have a voltage meter, and know how to to use it. Can someone give me a nudge in the right direction of which parts I should check, and how? A second problem that I believe to be unrelated: occasionally when I go to turn the bike on, I put the bike in neutral and hit the ignition switch,…

Hi , just getting back into the bike world after 20yrs. I have owned 3 Yamahas previously and found a 1983 Seca XJ 900. I know these are sort of rare and it needs a exhaust.. Will the exhaust from a seca 750 fit? I have been looking and its hard to fing one except on ebay where they are sort of generic 4-1 system. Any info would be helpful as I would love to rebuild this bike. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, My first post! I'm currently riding a 2006 Fazer 600, thinking of moving to a 2000 R1 (need it to be old to afford the insurance!). I was just wondering... does anyone have any buyer tips for these bikes (i.e. what to watch out for) or any advice? Are there any known faults/watchouts with this model? Are more recent models THAT much better?? The bike in question has 16k miles on the clock. Many thanks for any help!

Hey guys, I finally got my motorbike delivered about an hour ago ( ) but my main stress at the moment is securely locking it. I live in a closed compound with an onsite car park (with a ramp road block system), and I am parking my bike in my bay, but there's nothing to lock my bike to to secure it, and the disc lock I have for it doesn't fit through the front disc either (I have the Fahgettabout chain and that D lock doesn't go through it either). So at the moment, the only peace of mind I've got is a chain going around it, that doesn't actually lock to anything. I've asked if I can park it next to a lamppost to secure it, but my car park is patrolled by wa…

Hello guys, just picked up a wicked little thing! its an Oxford disc brake lock/alarm, payed roughly £35. Very loud at 100db, very good quality for money too! It's very sensitive as well, I put my key in the ignition and it goes off, Thought I'd post it up for anyone who's looking for a cheap little deterrent!! http://www.halfords.com/motoring/motorcycling/motorcycle-security/oxford-screamer-alarm-disc-lock.

  10. Hello folks. My new Yamaha turns up in a week or two so I need to turn my eye to securing it. I live in a rented house, and don't have access to a garage, so the 'easy' option is out of the running. I do have a parking bay with space for my bike, but can't really dig a hole in it for a concreted in anchor, unless I try and get away with one of those u-shaped ones that's flush to the surface - not sure the council would approve of me digging up the King's Highway though The bay is adjacent to a wooded area though, so as far as I can see I have a couple of options: I can use a chain around the nearest tree (that would be a 4m chain, to get there and back), p…

Hey everyone, sorry to mods if this is in the wrong section, I am after some advice regarding security lights, there have been a few thefts of bikes around my area & I want to make sure that mine has a deterant if nothing else, I have it on paddoc stands with chains around the wheels & stands, and locks everywhere possible, but I feel a light would also set my mind at ease. Has anyone fitted any that they would recommend.? Thanks for any help Shaun

Had a good look round the Divvy today and treated it to a wash and ACF50. I noticed that all the fairings and the tank have what looks like a security mark on them. I've looked online and can't find anyone who seems to use this particular mark and was hoping someone on here might be able to shed some light. The mark is DAT followed by a seven digit number etched in black dots. My first thought was datatag but looking at their website this doesn't look like what they use. Anyone have any ideas??

Previously had a few bikes nicked so thought ide ask some advice bout security on a little DT125r, im thinking over night locked up with screaming alarm and chained to a wall mount. not too sure tho what brands to go for or any places to get a decent deal. brought a Xena screaming alarm prevously, but turned out to be a bit crap as one night some **** picked the bike up and walked off with it presumably. it was also chained with a squire chain, only a cheapish one but found that with a link cut. any ideas would be much appretiatedQQ

Hey peeps. was browsing eBay looking for my old DT50, came across this, it looks so sad how could someone just leave a bike in a hedge? (unless it was nicked i guess), the tank has literally rusted through from top to bottom!

hey guys i gotta 1977 yamaha DOHC 500 twin motorcycle and its in mint condition! has about 5000 miles. the tank has a nasty dint and i dont know if you can pop that out or something but the motor is stuck solid. ive tried everything, diesel was just a joke, sea foam didnt do anything, ive even tried CLR but nothing, brake fluid trans fluid did nothing aswell. its a good bike but it was sitting in a shop for 30 years. ive heard steam works because the metal will expand and break away from whatever is making it stick. if you guys have any suggestions please let me know! thanks!

  17. Hi all Tried to replace the rear light unit, only the two bolts hoding it to rear mudguard have seized. Have you any tips for me to remove the old, make-do light? I'll try to preserve it and sell it on. I thought about using a 'cutting' file - think it would take ages but how do I protect the mudguard? Thanks in anticipation. I.L.

This is one for the year round folk, i have said before about the suzuki i used to own. Well it dumped its rider on the road over the weekend nobody and nothing else envolved, totally alone on the road, cause? A front brake pad. Yep, thats it. Corrosion had got behind the pad material and then, heat expansion maybe? something caused it to crack. Therafter a chunk came away and locked the front solid. Thankfully at about 15mph. The offending bits came out while stripping the front. This i'm told produced a near vertical, anal clamping stoppie. Dumping my mate (thankfully in full kit) over the bars on the ground doing his ankle, then drops back to earth and poli…

HI, I am thinking about buying a Yamaha FZ6 05 plate bike, and was wondering how easy they are to self-service please? Any info, hints and tips from those who have serviced this bike themselves would be appreciated.
