Hello, ive just got myself a completely standard 2001 imported dt125. I’ve been looking at dep exhausts for a better noise and possibly better performance? Any one know if they make much difference and weather it’s worth changing the front pipe as well or just go with the silencer on it’s own? thanks in advance lee

I've just discovered that someone has attempted to steal my bike during lockdown. There's be a screwdriver forced in the ignition barrel and the steering lock has been forced open. I have a chain on the front wheel so not sure if that is what stopped them taking the bike, but it also needed a new starter fuse so it wouldn't have started for them anyway but can't tell if they tried. I had a scooter stolen a few years ago and when it was recovered I was told that as the steering lock had been burst, the whole thing was a write off as they could have damaged the chassis. So my question is, is that the same case with this bike Yamaha YBR 125 Custom? I hadn't been riding …

Hello all I wondering if I could get some advice. I have recently bought a xvs 650 dragster 97. But when I first taken it out it was jolty, wasn't very responsive, and revs wound just go up and sit their then drop again. When I was ridding and release the throttle the idle was to low and it would cut out. I then taken it back cleaned the jets on the carbs out 2 of them was blocked and it ran sweet for an hour she was responsive no jolts or back pops rode a dream. Until on the way home she went back to running dig shit. This morning I stripped the jets cleaned them, fuel filter and air filter and put in some nice new fuel bit she is still runn…

Just fitted some RD carbs onto a YDS5 engine which I had to modify the carbs so they would fit on the stubs but I seem to be having issues of flooding the engine and petrol coming out the exhaust. I have checked the floats and they worked fine and I have put the top notch on the needle. That made no difference could it be the jet that need changing or could it be the throttle slides are to high but there in no adjustment left on the throttle cable.

I’ve got a 1986 Dt125lc ypvs. Blown the motor a month or so ago and found out the gearbox is smashed to bits. I’ve found someone selling a 1987 tzr125 for sale. Wondering if anyone know if the engine mounts are the same and how hard it would be to wire everything up. (His energy comes with both CDI’s and a little bit of the loom)

I am trying to find out the firing degree of the 125 xvs. I have purchased a xvs950 engine that fires at 300deg and 420 degree and i dont want to use the CDI associated with the engine as i dont intend to run fuel injectors and all the associated safety connections needed for that set up. I want to feed it with a S&S super carb and have a CDI from a 125 but i think the firing different, just trying to find enough info to make something work here.

Hey all, last week I decided to pick myself up a couple of sweet looking bikes off of Facebook being the impulsive 15 year old I am. I have never owned something with 2 wheels before so not sure if I made a good choice but one is a twin jet 100 and the other is a trail master 80. The 80 is completely seized and the cylinder block is pretty messed up. The transmission kicks into gear though and it is complete enough just needs a couple of things I could probably do myself except for the motor. The twin jet spins freely has good compression but is missing key switch, the wiring is messed up, missing a second carburator it only has 1 at the moment and needs other repairs th…

Hi all, I'm new to the forum. And to yamahas. And to bikes! I got myself a yam virago 125 non starter to do as a project and hopefully ride. I've got some experience with older cars so taking on a project didn't seem a biggie.. BUT The virago won't start, though it did briefly a few times yesterday. I'm getting fuel into the cylinders as there's petrol smell on the exhaust and I managed to flood a few times. I checked for spark and thats ok front and back, it's had fresh petrol and oil (it may have been left for as much as 5 years unused) It's got a new battery, some wiring has been repaired or replaced and seems to check out. The starter does its thin…

Hi folks, I'm Skittle from West Wales. Been a biker all my life, new to owning a Yamaha. I have an 2000 xvs dragstar 125, bought her last week and she's going for MOT Friday. Haven't taken her far but had a small test ride when buying her. Hope to get to know you all, in the coming weeks I'll be making an annoyance of myself, asking lots of questions, especially on sourcing parts Ride safe, see you on the road Jon

Hi All, sorry to ask a daft question but how do you release the fuel line connectors. There are a couple of pads which must be locking devices but I cant figure out how they operate. Not a good start to the valve service I've got planned !!

I bought the TDM 900 in December 2021, rode it a good amount, changed engine oil & filter, bled the brakes, fettled the calipers and generally fiddled about - as you do with a new bike. I could not find any history re the valve clearance checks so tried to book it in with a pal who is a great mechanic, but he could not fit me in until mid-march ! Right, I am fairly handy so I'll do it myself. While I'm in, I'll fit the SmartMoto secondary air valve bypass system and some posh coolant hoses from AS3Performance I got the rad, tank and airbox off and looked at the access to the valve cover, or rather the lack of it. The manuals all show the engine being worke…

Hi guys! I went to change my oil for the first time on my bike I just got last fall. All excited until I saw the Oil Drain Plug. Completely stripped! I tried going full bore with channel-locks because it was too far gone to be cautious with and it wouldn't didn't budge, just kept stripping worse and worse. I thought I'd come here before I get myself in a bigger jam. I noticed there are kits online to drill out drain plugs but I don't want to go that far if I can help it. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get this puppy unstuck? Oh, and I ordered a new oil drain plug, dumb question but; oil drain plugs are universal right? I mean I got the 14x1.5 threads I knew …
