Hi, I have removed a Meta alarm from my 98 R1 as it has recently failed and I had been unable to unset it with the key fobs. I could reset by counting the led's but this was becoming a real pain. I have reset the remotes in the past via the supplied procedure but this time it just would not reset. So i decided to remove it and now it will not start or least not stay started, despite me tracing all the wires back into the original loom and re connecting where appeared appropriate. The thing is it will start up on the starter button BUT as soon as the starter button is released it stops. So if I was to ride along with the starter button pressed it would probably be OK…

Hi lads, just joined. I have a problem with my alarm/immobiliser that I'm hoping to get some help with. Last night I went to deactivate the immobiliser to head for a spin and it didn't work. I changed the battery in the fob and that did nothing. Rang a mechanic, he said the immobiliser is probably bust so to just take it out and that should enable the bike to start again. Has anyone removed an alarm/immobiliser from a 03 Fazer 600 before? If so, is there any chance I could get a step by step instruction on how to do it? Any help much appreciated, Mark

yesterday on my way to work i went into tescos at bromley by bow, london. as i have two or three times a week for the last four years. i do not remove my crash helmet, buy my dinner and leave. yesterday i was asked to remove my crash helmet "for security reasons" not really a problem untill i see, not twenty feet away a person in a haqib. do they have to remove that i ask. no is the reply that is for religious reasons no it is not, i say ,it is her decision to wear that, not a religious obligation. i could get no answer from either the security muppet or the compliance manager as to why a crash helmet is unacceptable but a haqib was ok. so am i assumed to be a crim…

Heya peeps, Ive finally got my arse into some sort of gear and started work on the DT50 restoration, the tank that came with the bike was in good condition but had some dents and chips in it, aswell as rust on the inside although it doesnt seem to be too bad, i was planning to chemically treat the inside but its expensive, non-original and i dont think the tank is that bad that it requires it to hold liquid. I read an article sometime ago where a guy used vinegar to clean the inside of his fireblade tank, and also how i used to clean model aircraft engines back in my yoof, so for £4 i bought 8 bottles of distilled vinegar from tescos (each just under 600ml) and put t…

Hi ... I've go a problem with what I think are the 1st 2 cylinders of my bike, they are either over fueling or not getting proper spark to burn the fuel properly. I believe my carbs are functioning properly so I am thinking it maybe an electrical issue .The middle and left spark plugs are very wet with fuel, the right plug seems to be burning very clean. Almost since new, once in a whlie I would have a starting issue and would have to fiddle with the wiring harness near where it goes from the steering column to the engine . Could this be where my problem could be or is there another electrical spot I should be checking out .. ?

Hi, I have an 07 MT03 (the proper 660 single) and yes there are a few still on the road! 2 weekends ago I was out for a ride and saw according to my speedo I was doing 188 mph and 0 revs. So I stopped, and restarted the bike hoping the problem was not terminal...... it was - the whole display was dead. No neutral, indicator, main beam, nuffing (Later on closer inspection a chip on the printed circuit had blown) So as Mr Yamaha wanted £440 for a new one , after a lot of searching I managed to get one from a breakers . It works fine except that when I start the engine the display and rev dial goes blank for a few seconds. At first I thought it could be that the …

Hello there, I am Daniel, and I have just joined this forum. I own a 125 YBR 2006/2007 which I have had for under a year now. I wonder if someone might be able to advise me, but various plastic lugs have broken off the inside of my left hand fairing, the one that comes off to access the battery. As such the fairing doesnt quite secure on as well as it should do. I am looking for a new, replacement OEM fairing for it, but I dont know where to get such a thing. Initial internet searches havent come up with anythign directly relevant. I dont wish to attempt a bodge repair by sticking bits of plastic on with glue. If anyone knows where I should look, then that wo…

Hey all. This morning on my way home, my seat felt quite hard. It was only my 5th ride on my bike and the seat is 17 years old, so i was thinking about buying a replacement seat. After searching google, it seems these are quite hard to find, or i'm looking for the wrong thing. Can anyone recommend a good comfy seat for my SR125? Thanks in advance!

Hey guys. I have a small problem with my helmet's visor. My wee brother in law decided it'd be a good idea to play with my helmet and place it visor down into our lawn that's covered in rocks and stones. Needless to say, the visor is now scratched beyond all hope of repair. I've tried polishing and using the special wax stuff. No joy Now has come the time where I'm scouring the internet for a replacement visor, only to find nothing at all in the way of them. Do you guys know if the GMAC Jaguar is exactly the same as another helmet with a different name, or if there are any replacement visors out there? I don't really want to spend money on a new helmet…

I am sure there are many out there who have been down the same road, over the last four years my son and I have lovingly restored a black "A" registered DT 125 LC. Suffice it to say it was chained to a lampost one day with a chain that would hold a buldozer, yet someone managed to cut through it and stole the bike, Not heard of since and police not interested (does that ring any bells ??) Anyway, I have tried to find a replacement and have had no luck so far. So does anyone know where I could find a replacement. I don't mind where it is, I would just like to make my son a happy chap again.

Hello to you all. I am having real probs with my switch, and having checked the haynes manual all seemed to be fairly simple procedure. Now having bought the switch and looked at the bike, the switch is held not with Phillips screws as the manual says, but bolts whose head snap off when torqued up. So, it means having to drill them and use an 'Eazeout'. Has anyone done this job before, and do you have any tips on how to go about it? I use my bike for work, so cannot have it off the road more than 2 days. Any idea as to the size of the bolts and torque pressure (I aint ever used these before)I will have to buy before starting? Any help appreciated, take care, stoot
