hi, everyone. I was hoping someone could help me solve a mysterious problem that has had mechanics all round the country scratching their heads! I have had a problem with my clutch! I have a 2002 yzf r1 with only 10,000 on the clock and i have a difficulties changing gear when she's cold. She wont let me put it in to first gear without stalling. Not any problems when going up the gears. I have had the plates out and had them looked at by 3 Yamaha approved mechanics(no names mentioned eh ) but they can't see anything physically wrong with it! . Please help

Hi there. I wonder if anyone could help me. I have a 1998 R1 which had a strap mark on the frame on a smooth surface just below the petrol tank. I have had both sides of the top of the frame sprayed to match and he has done it in a brush finish which looks fine but the colour is totally wrong comparing to my other bikes. Does anyone know if it is just lacquered and brush finished or something else. Thanks Anthony

Hi dose any one no if a full fairing and lights from a R1 2001 will fit a 1999 R1 Any help will be good. Thanks shaun

hi,due to unforseen circumstances i am forced to consider parting with my 98 r1 4xv & i wondered if anyone has any idea what a realistic asking price (or reserve price if i ebay it) would be? its pearl white & red,red seat model,25k miles with fsh etc,totally standard & in extremely good condition.i havnt used it for a number of years as i didnt want to run the mileage up on it & i been using a 1200 bandit until recently.basically its been mothballed in my workshop but started quite often & given the odd ride now & then to keep everything working.i guess the only consolation about having to let it go would be if its worth decent money.has anyone ha…

Hi Guys, My R1 is in its origional state and I'd like to tidy it up.. Does anyone know what the best approach is... Im thinking to replace with a new undertray that comes complete with plate light, indicators,bracket and brake lights etc... Is this ok and if so,,,, any ideas which ones fit right and come complete with everything fitted and just ready to change over... Cheers......

I know F**K all about engines and how they work but the time has come when my bike with 17,000 miles is making some noises. I have been told by (Experts) other riders, that it could be my cam chain tensioner, and if I change that, then I should get the head skimmed, and the valves and stem seals done. what the F**k are they on about ????? Is it worth it ? who should I go to ? the bike is a 2000 model with Ram air, hindle full system and a few bolt on's, dyno tested at 160 bhp at the rear wheel with 90psi torque. basically its a bloody fast toy and I'm off to europe on a road trip next year. I'd like to see what extra power, if any I can find, so …

I've got a 2000 w plate R1 and am sure the clutch is on its way out, any idea's what to change in its place, I.E. tupe of plates and any body know of a good mechanic in surrey ?

Help .... I have just bought a 1998 R1 and the clutch action feels like it is set in concrete. So far I have removed the clutch cable, which is free to move, as is the clutch lever. I have also had the clutch cover off and the clutch arm moves freely, no notchiness from the bearings. The previous owner tells me he had a new clutch fitted. Any one have any ideas Cheers Steve

Ok Ive just noticed that my coolant tank. ( under seat, near rear shock) Has just gone empty, 2 days ago it was over the full line. and now i cant find any. did i lose it all from boil over? or where else could it have gone. she runs at a cool 73c on highway. but in city, in lots of lights runs at about 100celcius. I have 2 drip lines off the left side of my bike( near footpeg) what comes out of these drips lines ect ect. And also what coolant type does my machine run on. and how do i fill the damn thing!! everything is so compact and tight its hard to find any abvious places to refill anything. Hi folks A question for you that I've asked elsewhere, I want to fit R1 blue spot front brake calipers to my FJ1200, a fairly standard mod. The question is, are Fazer/R6 front calipers the same as R1, I know they look the same but do they give the same improvement in efficiency? Seen a set on ebay cheaper than R1. Thanks, Big Bob

Hi all, I have recently purchased my third Yamaha YZF R1 a 2006 model in black, What a machine and a big step up from the 2002 model? Ok I am trying to adjust the headlights as they dazzle oncoming and light the sky aswel as every road sign for 200yards lol, Need help as unable to find the info in manual? Marc

Hi guys my 2004 R1 decided not to start and it just said hi temp. Been standing the whole day drove fine this morning but now it when i turn the key it sais hi temp and cranks over fine but won't start.Any help will be appreciated.

My 2003 R1 with 43500miles on it has been serviced every 5000miles and had a oil and filter changed every 2-3k. The bike started to idle a little rough (hunting) and I hoped the mechanic can sort it when it when for it's service. He told me that my injectors seems to be clogged and that I should try a fuel additive or get them cleaned, but then I won't have something to commute on... I haven't had a chance to slap her around hard for a while now (just the London commute), I have noticed my exhaust is black inside and when I ride slowly I can swear I am smelling fuel... I tried the ProLong injector cleaner, which seemed to work for a while, but hardly 500 miles la…
