  3. So today my engine failed , rather spectacularly ( ive got a post on the workshop with the full story ) I have no idea what is wrong ....... However after pushing my bike for several miles up and down some pretty hefty hills at 10/11pm in the freezing cold my father tells me its all part of being a biker, and it happens to everyone at some point ! Wondered if you guys had any similar stories ? Although i must add ..... 100's of cars past me and didn't stop to ask to see if I was ok or needed a hand ... however 6 out of the 7 bikes which past pulled over and asked if they could help very impressed ! Just starting the ball rolling, the daughter will be 16 middle of next year and seeing as she has the bug we have agreed to a bike of her own. I'm not entertaining one of those crappy scooter rev and go things, esp as I fully intend for her to move up to the DT. I have the 125 top end ready to fit (when I fix the crank). Anyhow, I know we all have stuff hidden and friends who know friends etc so.......... If anybody has some ideas on DT 50's or RD's out there for sensible needs work prices I would be interested. Within sensible distance from Northampton unless its really good buy. I'm asking way ahead of her 16th to allow me time to do any work, find parts …

  8. Valentino, how are you today? VR: “I’m fine, everything is ok, and this is the most important thing. I did not injure myself too much except for a big bump to the head. Last night I had a little headache but today I'm fine, I'm 100%. It was a real shame because before the race we made a change that would have helped me a lot; the bike was strong, I was going well, I had recovered the gap in the first few laps and I was there with the leading riders. I felt good and I am sure I could have made a good race, so it was a real shame to fall. In a way I'm almost glad because even though we had a difficult weekend on Sunday we were competitive and this was supposed to be a track…

I'm going!!! Just thought I'd share that with you all. My mate's in the RAF and he's based out there for four months so we're gonna visit. Myself and two mates fly out there on Wednesday 5th April and come home on the Sunday night. The racing should be magic and apparently Doha (the city my mate's based which is home to Losail Circuit) is just like Dubai - party central! I cannot wait.

This past few years I have noticed an increasing number of quads on the road in my city. It feels like there's a quad epidemic. It's getting ridiculous, they are noisy as fook and they ride around in gangs. Ive just seen four of them paying no attention to the traffic and using the wrong lanes.

I know it's quiet on here now but the people I'm asking will still be popping in. As title. As father time and a mispent youth catch up I want to reduce the stress on my wrists and reducing the physical twist on the throttle would be a big help. There is everything from 40 quid specials to gold plated 500 quid tat for the posurs. There are a few in the 100 to 150 quid range that have an ajustable ratio that seems like a good idea. Anybody used something like this.

Is JMW and N Tart one and the same? The reason I ask is that since JMW has left the building there haven't been any recent postings from N Tart. I mean she's female and quiet - it don't ring true.

I have a 1981 550 maxim. It has been sitting for some time. I'm pretty confident that the carbs, from sitting, have gotten a little gummed up. I took them apart, cleaned them and have been able to get it started. But it won't idle. You have to nurse the throttle and it very erratic. some times you can keep it going for ten minutes. Sometimes it will quit as soon as the ether wears out. It needs about 3/4 throttle to stay running and at times it will rev up on it's own. Fuel seems to flow freely. I think I have a vacumn problem., but any, ANY, advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Marc Smith Cleveland ,Ohio

  16. Dear Yamaha fans, long story short I have brought a Yamaha YZF-R 125 from Switzerland to the UK. The bike belonged to my son, I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about motorcycles. The bike clearly has to be made UK-compliant, for example the headlights have to be modified so that the dipped beam is in the correct position. However one huge item is a module which "converts" the european "dashboard" from kilometers travelled and KPH to miles travelled and MPH. The dealer says that a UK bike would already have such a module to permit conversion but European bikes do not have that module and hence I need to buy one as part of UK compliance. The stock code is "5D7H35001300". And a cost…

There are two tyres, one is 300-18, and the other is 3.00-18. What does that actually mean? Are they the same? Are they different? What's the difference between a 300 and a 3.00? This is probably a stupid question, but everyone learns somehow.

  18. has any any ideas or suggestions were i can get wiring digaram for yam rd 200 dx
