Hello everyone, If I am placing this wrongly please forgive me. I have just added a 2001 Yamaha 1600 Midnight Star to my bikes. This bike had been sitting for over a year and obviously needed carburetor cleaned. This bike had RineHart Exhaust put on it and an aftermarket air filter. The exhaust has started to brown so I assume the jets needed changed also. I carried the bike to local shop and they cleaned Tank, Carburetor, re jetted it, new plugs and put it all back together. It ran Perfect for the first 30 miles and then it started backfiring through the rear cylinder pipe while idling and also while riding when you are not accelerating, Just at a level speed. …

Hi all I got a question about slip on mufflers, the bike is a xmax 2012 125 would I have to change rollers air/fuel mix or jets if I put a slip on muffler on or do you only do that for a full exhaust system change, not wanting to make the bike faster just like the look of some of the mufflers you can get, any thoughts Thanks all Chris

Hi looking for some advice or guidance. Where is the best place to find a rear shock for a 2009 model. Also roughly what's the cheapest price I could likely buy for? Would other make/model shocks fit? If so which ones? Any help would be appreciated.

I brought a project bike and,as it had spent all of it's life in a seaside town ,it had a badly rusted frame...when it came back from the blasters the bottom rails where like swiss cheese with lots of horrible bodge welding all over it...pretty certain it was out of alignment too. So I brought a s/h frame with number and v5,all legit...if I rebuild all parts onto fresh frame which v5/reg do I use?...the original bikes because the majority of parts have come from it?.. or the replacement frame?...unable to get a definitive answer from dvla at the moment but will try again.

Hi. Last year i decided to buy a 125cc to commute around on due to not having a proper licence. My friend convinced me to buy a scooter which i was not too sure on never owed one before and i enjoy the geared bikes. Anyway due to finance i picked up a good deal on a Yamaha Cygnus 125cc 2012 model with only 6000+ miles on the clock. The bike has been going fine until last year December when one morning the scooter just died on me and the ignition light flashed about 3 times. I pulled over switched off then on again and she started. That afternoon on the way home it happened again. The manual says when you turn the ignition on it will do an electrical test then the light wi…

So, been on my YZF R125 for about 7 months now, was hoping to get at least a years experience before I moved up. However I went into some bike shops and saw the Z800 Sugomi. I was originally set on a GSXR 750 or Ninja 600, but they are so common, I wanted something a little bit different, plus the insurance for a supersport compared to a situp right was quite steep! This is my YZF R125 2011, Dalkavik exhast (it's loud!) Awesome bike, but, do you guys have an tips for going to my new Z800 Sugomi, thing is brand new - you will all shout at me for that! - and a LOT more powerful and a LOT heavier, 100KG extra to be precise. Quickly, w…

Hi All Apologies for the following strange request: I have just recovered a 1980 DT from a barn - I bought it off a mate who was emigrating more than 30 years ago and it has sat there since. Remarkably, I think it could be resurrected. My 17 yo lad is keen to do this. Problem 1 (there will be more, I'm sure), I can't remember if it is a 125 or a 175 (The V5 disappeared years ago and there are no capacity decals on it). Is there anyway I can tell from the frame number or do I need the engine number? I assume it is the frame number on the headstock - it's a bit ropey but I think it is 02168?X?. I believe that 125 and 175 parts are pretty interchangeable, but …

I have an american import DT 175 E. Yamaha have confirmed that it a 1978 model. Did the american models have there lights on permanantley as on the left hand control there is only the horn, indicator and HI - Lo switch. There is only one position on the ignition ,on or off and there is no wiring on the harness for the usual sidelight. Please can anyone confirm this. Thank you.

Ok so yesterday I asked some questions about the vmax and got the answers I needed. The HD vRod is out the window and I will be buying a vmax. However I have a question on rear wheels that some vmax lovers may know the answer. How do I put a bigger wider rear tyre on the vmax, what wheels do I need as limited to shaft drive? I'd like a 180 on the rear, does anyone know how to achieve this?

I'll have to admit I didn't know this. Not all screws are the same it would appear - as I was to discovered to my cost. Many of the smaller ones, holding the float bowl of the carburetor for instance are JIS, Japanese Industry Standard. At first glance you would swear (I know I did several times) that they were standard Philips. The giveaway is a tiny dimple or punch mark on the screw head. A Philips driver will fit but it is more likely to twist out or mash up the head. The JIS driver is slightly different in profile and less prone to slipping. Just thought I'd pass this on as I learn from my mistakes.http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-tools/jis-screwdrivers/

Hi, My son has a Yamaha Aerox which has been fine for the last month or so, however today he went for a ride with his mates, and the bike keeps dying when above idle. It's going to be recovered by the RAC. Has anyone else had this problem? Any idea what the solution is? Thanks Pete
