Some information before I get to the problem. So I crashed my motorcycle about 2 weeks ago. I hit a curb doing 40ish on a new road I wasn't used to. Got thrown from my bike, most of the damage was to the front and left side. Luckily I was ok. At the time I had a toggle switch on the bike, that came out when I crashed however. When I got it from the tow company the front brake lever had no resistance to it. So I took it off. My fairings were gone instrument cluster was gone. One of my exhausts was hanging off the bike. I got it home washed it up fixed what I could. I replaced the throttle tube and the start/kill switch (the old one was destroyed in the crash) I took t…

Hi Guys, I am new to the forum hope you can help. I have just bought my 1993 Virago 1100 from a friend who wasn't well enough to ride it, he told me that there was an issue with the battery which was causing starting problems. Sadly he is no longer with us so I can't correct him on this. On taking a closer look it appears to be the starter bendix which causing the problem, this looks easy enough to replace but the problem is I cant locate as source other than in the USA and as my car is also busted I don't really want to wait till its shipped from the U.S. I can probably order this from my local Yamaha dealer but was hoping to order it online today. Does anyone know a…

Had to go down to our cottage near Annan today so what better excuse to take the bike. Fuelled up just outside Gorebridge and took the A7,(a bit crap with slow movers but was in no hurry) down to Longtown, across via Gretna to Eastriggs. Back up the M74 (chance to collect some flies) then over the A702 to Edinburgh & east lothian. Feckin Awesome day out. Now, I know the Divvy isn't everyone's cup of tea but in having no experience of another big bike I can't imagine what else you'd need? 60+ mpg, comfy seat and comfy on the road. I will admit that after an almost solid 200 miles my right knee was getting a bit annoyed, I found myself scooting back up the seat for ex…

1998 Mk 1 Red 34,000 miles. T&T. Just not being used. 100% reliable. New Bridgestone tyres. New front wheel bearings. New brake pads all round. Newish Yuasa battery. Bad bits (there's always some!). The speedo has stopped working, probably I have refitted the speedo-drive incorrectly after the tyre change. The bodywork is a bit shabby, plastics not holed at all but some scratches. £850 Saw this ad - no photo, anybody got any experience with these please?

I just bought a 1999 WR 400 and it is a B#$%H to crank I have tried rolling the throttle a couple of times since the previous owner told me it had a carb pump then getting it just past top dead center using the compression release choking it, and kicking and kicking and kicking there has got to be something that will make this thing crank a little easier. What is the red choke button for? I have been using the black one? thanks for anyone willing to answer, anybody want buy an otherwise nice 400?

I was lucky enough to meet up with Oldgitonabike yesterday. The man is a true Gent and not only did I get a lot of valuable information, get my engine presssure tested and the timing checked, I managed to source two parts to the bike. The tea was good also. A really big thankyou OG I did intend to meet up with another forum member today but a little "unforeseen" meant this was not possible. Lets hope we can do it soon Cynic. Two very knowledgeable people.

Hi, I have bought a 2003 R1 a little while ago and it had a bit of a clunk changing from 1st into 2nd since I got it. But now its as if I am noticing it more and more. Its a definite clunk at low speeds of 25-45mph and then more of a pinging sound between 45mph and up. I have been told by a few people that this is a normal noisy R1 gearbox and that lots of them do it. I was also advised that my chain might be too tight when I'm sitting on it, but it looks fine to me... Have any of you have any suggestions or should I begin to worry??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
