Greetings fellow members I new to this forum and furthermore the biking world. Will have had my licence a year in August (yey) so yes I am still green. I recently bought my second bike, its a 600R TCat. Its curently got 22.5k miles. I am informed that I can increase the lifespan of my engine by getting the engine re-built etc. Can someone please grace me with their experience and awesomeness and tell me what the average cost may be for a rebuild. When is a good time to consider getting one? What other kinds of things to consider when getting major work done to her? Obviously regular service oil filter etc..... And what kind of mileage to get …

Can anyone supply technical info or or spec modifications (or advise where info and pictures can be obtained) on the DT125 and YZ 125 off road models- The info required is from the year (approx) when the DT model changed from air to liquid cooled, up until 2005. Please go easy with technical info as I am an old git, in my day we would set points with a fag paper and pliers! Many thanks, Steve.

Well here goes, my first foray onto an internet forum on bikes. This should serve to show that even some of us in the trade don't know it all. I've returned after 15 years out of it to the workshop which is non franchised and but equipped to the teeth and prepared to service and repair anything. We have an XT 600Z with a G plate. Its a UK model and unfortunately for us we have to get this non runner into a goer. The recent work history given to us though means we need to follow all the genuine Yamaha testing on the electrics and ignition system to find the fault. It has been to another nearby local repair shop who fobbed the owner off in an appalling manner …

Hi just checking on the inner tube size for the rear tyre on my DT 125 R . the old one I took out was a CST 3.25/3.50-18 tube and the new one from Yamaha is a Bridgestone 4.10-18 tube . The tyre fitted is a Mithchelin Enduro 140-80-18 tyre. Asking because new tubes valve seems to stick through more as when tyou tighten the 2 nuts up there is visible rubber showing, not right i am thinking. Cheers.

I've just had a phone call from an insurance company offering me TPF&T insurance for £350... surely that's an insane price for a 24 year old with 4 points and on a first bike (1999 R6)!?!?!? That also covers me to drive other bikes third party. I'll get the details of the company tomorrow and keep you informed

Hey All, After riding my brilliant wee 125 Dragstar for almost 2 years my CBT is up soon I'm considering moving on and finally getting my licence. Can anyone recommend a good and inexpensive place to do my Direct Access with? Need to get an idea of cost. If it's too expensive I'll just re-sit the CBT and save a bit longer. Cheers.

Hi all, New around here, I'm looking at getting a YZF-R125 and am currently getting quotes for insurance that are ranging from £650 (H & R Insurance) to £1300 (Carole Nash) and some even more than that! Was wondering if these kind of prices were normal as they seem rather high to me? About me, I'm 22 in a couple of weeks and have held a full (clean) driving license for over 4 years, bike value is £3k and will be kept in a locked garage overnight. Any YZF-R125 owners willing to disclose what they're paying - and also what license they hold etc? Ta,
