Hi all, Newbie here and newbie to biking, just bought an 2002 xvs dragstar 125. This bike is in A1 condition, only 1230 miles on the clock and looks like its just come off the forecourt! Can't believe I left it till the age of 38 to experience the amazing feeling of riding, but there we go! The paperwork confirms one previous owner who bought the bike at the age of 70!!!! With the last 5 years amassing an amazing 86 miles and the bike has never seen rain! The questions I have are that it gets upto 50 mph pretty quick, however sadly there's not much more!!!! Was wondering if these bikes are restricted in anyway? Another question is that I struggle to get the bike into…

As much as I love my little XJ6, I've taken quite a fancy to the FZ8N and was just wondering if anyone has one, or has any experience of what they are like? Husband rode an FZ1 and he said that, while it's a great bike, it's very twitchy and tends to be to the extremes of all or nothing with the throttle - snatchy acceleration and not particularly smooth. He said it's a bit mental Is the FZ8 like that too? Or is it a bit more 'rounded' in terms of rideability? I don't want anything that's hard work. My XJ6 is easy to get on with and I'm wondering if the FZ8 is just a bigger version, or is it more like a smaller mad-machine like the FZ1? Yes I know I really ou…

Hi everyone, I have an engine number on the bike 2yl-292024 wich doesn't match the number under the handle bar first of all (2yl-292252) I have no vin number at all. I would like to get more info on the bike but without a 17 character long vin number I can't seem to find any site that would give details about the bike. Any idea what this bike is? It is a virago 535 and '97 but can you get more info then that? Also if you have no vin number on the bike what can you do? Is it possible that this one doesn't have one? Many thanks Gabor

So I'm getting a 2013 Fazer 8 and it's coming in Matte Grey. Has anyone any experience on if/how you should clean this paintwork? Part of me thinks you shouldn't polish it due to matte not supposed to have any shine, but thought I'd ask... Thanks Dan

don't agree with this blog. saying its akin to wearing a seat belt WTF? no amount of reflective light emissions is going to stop motorists from seeing you, for one they need to have headlamps on. two they need to actually acknowledge you're there and three seatbelt - sticker, sticker - seatbelt, nope can't see a link read for your self http://getgearedforbikers.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/french-helmets-law-5-things-to-know.html

Hi, I am a new member and owner of a Yamaha Radian. I am having problems getting the bike to start by using the start switch. I have checked the clutch switch and side stand switch and both seem to be working. I have put a new battery on the bike and can get it started by bridging the positive on the battery and the starter. Any ideas as to why it will not start? I also noticed that the previous owner removed the fuse for the power wires and just wound them together. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks James

I'm reading David Blume's "Alcohol Can Be A Gas: Fueling an Ethanol Revolution for the 21st Century" and the chapters on small utility engines, two-strokes, and motorcycle engines got me thinking. What are the major performance differences? (For starters. . .) It seems like someone with a good understanding of jetting and tuning could adjust for the octane differences, etc. and go off the grid with their fuel AND their WHISKEY! I'll try to put up a few of Blume's findings from some experiments a little later, but for now, I just thought I'd see if anyone had any good stories or experiences running their bikes on alcohol or other biofuels. Anybody ever have to g…

Hi guys, I've recently bought an XVS 950a Midnight Star (really loving it by the way!) I'm struggling to find some decent cheapish panniers and wondered if anyone had any recommendations? I don't need them massive really just looking to pop my leathers in there on days out, would prefer lockable ones due to this. Thanks for reading. Andy

Ok wise ones if you would be so kind I need some advice, I am going to rebuild the XJs engine this winter (as I have run out of projects!) and wanted to know if you might tell me the best place to get a gasket set, I can buy an EBAY one for about £50 and it has most of the bits I need but cheap is NOT always cheerful, so any one with a (clean) thought on where might be a reasonable price coupled with a reasonable quality set supplier would be appreciated.

Hello all, Just bought myself a 2010 YBR125 custom and as it came with no service history and only 700miles on bike I am a bit concerned at the very low mileage considering it is over 3years old and has had 3 owners... The guy I bought it off seemed very genuine so am more concerned about the 2 previous owners and lack of any real mileage. The bike is in good condition and seems to be going well but I would really like to find out if there is any way I can check the mileage is genuine. I've never had one of these bikes before and as I'm only getting 55 miles per hour is this the norm and if not is there anything I can check to remedy it? The guy I bought it from just …

Basically I'm looking for a seat a bit like Thin and just like this, simple plain black, cheap too hopefully, can anyone direct me in the right place? Don't know how long I can last with the current seat ugh!! I've already had a brief look and can't seem to find much! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
