My new new handlebars have arrived and I'm going to fit them myself. It seems like a really simple job, is there any special technique or any advice anyone can give me?

I have a 72 yamaha LT2 enduro that I bought two weeks ago for 550. I thought that it was in great shape but I keep finding more and more things wrong with it. It had a wiring issue and the headlight would not work, also it had no battery. I fixed both of those issues. Then it had poor compression and died when it was idling. I dealt with those and now I found that my piston rings are gone. Both were broken and in the exhaust pipe. I have ordered new ones for 20.00 and a new piston for 45.00. My question is when is enough enough. How long should I go on replacing things like this and do y'all think it is likely that things are going to keep cropping up this often? Keep in …

On occasion there have been folks on here that want to fix a problem with their LED indicators flashing to fast. I saw this video and thought that it might help them with a full explanation on why it happens and the correct fix for this problem. I like this guy (Delboys garage) cos he mostly does away with the usual bullshit that others waffle on about, an easy fix with lots of explanations on "How to". Some of his other videos are helpful as well especially the one on fork seal replacement on both USD and normal forks.

Hi can anyone tell me what other discs will fit the fj 1200.many thanks.

  10. Hey peeps. I've got the chance of buying an '84 FJ1200 from a dealership my mate works at, it's got 46000 miles on it, new chain, tapered head bearings, fork seals, new pads and tyres all round and new pistons in the calipers, they're after £1k for it. Ideally I wanted a 1200, but if the 1100 is good for the price I'm not so fussed, I'm getting shot of everything else I have as I may be out of work for a while so it's likely to be my only mode of transport for the next year or so and I need it to be cheap to run/maintain and above all else reliable and simple. Any ex or current owners out there have any advice on what to look for on a bike this age?.

Hi all; Just bought a 1990 FJ1200 - and it's big - for when I pass my full licence mainly because :- 1. It was cheap at £1000 off a guy who's honest and has had loads done to it - two new tyres, carb/tanks cleaned, rear caliper rebuilt, new clutch seal kit, fork seals, full service and 10 months MOT so it's ready to use for when I pass. The guy selling it has two trikes and is staying to 3 wheels in future instead of two. 2. The reviews had said it is bulletproof. 3. It was local and I could get it delivered. Now I'm done my practice for my mod1 yesterday at the training school (on their Honda NC700's) and I've had a practice of the FJ in the car park…

I work from home during the week and most of the times look forward to the 85 mile blast to the office. 25 miles in, while passing a few trucks in the outside lane this morning, the throttle cable in the grip decided to give the ghost. Interesting to say the least, managed to coast inbetween 2 trucks to the inside lane with the usual, as friendly as, hand signals to say the bike was toast and came to a stop on the inside of a merging slip road up ahead. Luckily it was the grip end, just broken after the little lead crimp, and not in the junction box under the tank. Still weighing up my options it looked like I was fooked where I was and leaving the bike be…

Hi, I'm trying to remove the starter on my FJ1200 and need some advice. I have the Haynes book and it says to remove seat, tank, and side fairings which I have. Removed the 2 bolts holding starter but it will not come out as it is blocked by frame. Thought I would check here b4 I disassemble any more. Any suggestions as what to do? Thanks in advance, Scott.

Hiya peeps. I've had my FJ1200 ABS for almost a month now, and it's a cracking bike, reminds me of when that crazy texan guy was riding the nuclear bomb in the film Dr Strangelove. But anyway, I've just changed the clutch master and slave cylinder seals, sorted out the dodgy wiring that made the headlight flicker and a few other bits and pieces, but theres a few things left to do; Dashboard lamps, I'm sure only one of them is working because I can't see my fuel gauge, clock or speedo below 90mph at night, what size and type of bulb do I need?. The speedometer face is loose within the dashboard, you can see it rattling around in there, how can I get the clu…

Thinking of ditching the car for most of the summer. I'm really only on motorways and the divvy N is a bit small. Noticed a couple of old FJ's cropping up. Anybody still doing proper mileage on them? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Morning all. My first visit and post here. After being in the US for 8 years now, and missing biking from back in the UK, I have the hankering for a bike again. MY good friend, a non biker, has just got a nice second hand HD Sportster thingy. Now let me just say that if you like that sort of thing...fine with me, BUT, it aint my cuppa tea! So have been thrashing around, wondering and pondering what to get and am sort of narrowing it down. Went to a local dealer that had a cpl of '06 ST's. After my '93 trophy, they felt way too sporty for me. Little did I know, DUH, that there arent any Trumpet Trophies any more. There didnt appear to be much wind protect…
