Hi I am a new here and a new rider and a new yamaha owner. I just bought my first bike couple of days ago and while I waited for the insurance documents to arrive, I noticed that the tyre pressure in the rear tyre has gone down. The tyre is not flat, but it isn't inflated as the front tyre either? I don't have an air pump. What should I do? - walk the bike to the petrol station 0.4 miles away to check if it's a puncture or just the air leaked out. If so, how and where should I walk the bike? sidewalk or on-road? Do I need to be wearing a helmet while walking the bike? - since I haven't got the insurance documents yet, I don't have a 'breakdown cover' …

Hi Everyone , just thought i'd introduce myself, i passed my DAS a couple of months ago and bought my first bike which is being delivered this Friday. It's a 2005 Model R6 with the upside down forks etc. I bought it from Infinity Motorcycles in Clapham for £4995, it's black (Raven i believe) and has covered 4000 miles it was first registed at the end of May 2006 so still has one years warranty. I could have spent more and bought a newer model but decided that the extra money was best spent on decent leathers, boots, gloves, back protector etc. I already had a HJC Helmet that i use for trackdays in my Lotus Elise but i'll probably upgrade this soon enough (is this …

Sorry if this comes up all the time from new riders! I was wondering if anyone has any advice on the first bike after gaining full license? At the moment the most advice I have had is 'Buy whatever you want, something shiny that looks nice and you will learn from there' - which I think is pretty sound. At the moment options I am considering are: MT-07 or 09 XJ6 FZ6 S2 (2009/10 I think) - Really like the design of this bike, but not sure how easy it is to find. If anyone has any strong opinions about any of these let me know

  5. Hi, I am new to biking and just bought my first bike a Yamaha SR 125 1993 model. It was a bit dirty with a bit of rust but it has scrubbed up really well and I am happy with it. Anyway, I have a couple of questions which I hope someone can answer please. I was starting it up today when I noticed the fuel reserve on the bike was 'on'. Should this be switched to 'off'? I assume so but want to check. What happens if you ride with the reserve on? The tank is about 3/4 full at the moment. Another thing. The bike has a crack on the front around where the front head light is. It's not a real problem just cosmetic, but is it possible to buy a new piece for this, I would like …

Today after 11 months of riding my bike was so fucked I had to rsort to a recovery truck. Luckilky I was covered through my insurance. With MCE I get free breakdown recovery within ten miles. It took three hours for the recovery truck to come and they tried their best to get out of sending one but I got one in the end. It was a bit silly really, a big fuck off recovery truck all for my little 125. Set off home and there was a clanking clunking metal sound and my back wheel was wobbling to fuck. I was approx 10 miles from home and I knew there was something seriously wrong. I had two options 1) Leave the bike in my girlfriends garage and pay for the motorcycle garage t…

Took a lowside fall today. Front wheel hit some tractor mud on a corner and the bike went from under me. Glad to say the gear all did its job just fine. Sore leg and some light scraping on my arm. My jacket is pretty badly damaged but rather it than me. I was not going fast as ironically I could see that conditions were poor and had slowed down considerably (although obviously not enough). I feel fortunate to be able to say I learned! Now I need to go buy some parts to replace the broken bits. Its the original tyres on the bike (Yamaha YBR 125). I had been thinking of replacing them as a few people have said they are not that great. I'm not sug…

Well had my new 2 me 1985 Yamaha XS 250 for 4 weeks now almost 1000 miles later and here is the good and the bad form my perspective. Bad. Brakes, stop stooooooop stooooooooooooooooooooooooop, forgot just how hard you have to pull on 80s single disk brake to make an impact on slowing down. Not really a problem just something you have to get re-used to a few near misses and your there. Oil leak from final drive shaft, not a bad one haven’t needed to top op oil yet and don’t expect to before oil change. Actually a double edge sword. It is working as a very effective inbuilt Scot oiler; the drip runs down drive sprocket and lubricates the chain lovely. Problem is it …

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding my R1 and was just hoping I could get some advice. I have had my R1 for around 5 years now and had bikes all my life, but due to personal injuries since then years, I have come to the decision that it is time to sell, massive waste really as its a great bike and in mint condition with low mileage (7100 miles), its the year 2000 model. I find it hard to gauge how much to sell bikes for so would like to see what people think would be the right price for this bike, had MOT yesterday and the tester asked whether it had been in kept in bubble wrap since it was bought, any advice is welcome. Thanks alot in advance. (this is not …

New member just saying hello. Been browsing the forums and you all seem like a friendly bunch! Coming to biking pretty late in life but better tat than never, I suppose. Got my first bike on Monday at the tender age of 38...that's me, not the bike. Looking forward to getting out and about once MOT is sorted. Maybe I'll catch some of you on a ride out soon. Cheers!

Went out with the daughter yesterday, not the most auspicious start as the first stop was for fuel just outside the next village. And my wallet was in my normal jeans I had changed out of, Doh, daughter had to wait there while I went back. Think I'm going to be hearing about that one for a while. Otherwise got out did some of the better bike roads with some high speed stuff then turned off into the back country, old 16th century villages and single track roads around the edge of the county working back. Only around 60 miles but with the country stuff (some 10mph) we were out maybe 3 hours all told and we were both suffering with numb backsides by the time we pulled u…

Wednesday went for a ride. Bouy was it great to be back on the bike. What a joy to feel the bike moving around underneath me. Been out again today for 1 1/2 hrs after finnishing work. The route is: From work(redfield) up the A420 through Kingswood to Warmley, up Tog hill to the A46 then to Bath. Stay on the A4 through Bath. Then to Saltford, on the Keynsham bypass and staying on the A4 into Fowlers for coffee. A bit of everything and very enjoyable for a quick spin.
