sorry to hear your bike got nicked but from what you have said I suppose it was bound to happen. Trail bikes are a prime target for the 'yoofs' whoo would love to rag it around off road (and on the road too), you may get it back but I expect it will be damaged unless youre lucky. Im surprised to read that youre prepared to leave it overnight without locking it though!
  2. There should be a little free play in the lever, you will see a cable adjuster at the lever, undo the lockring and screw in the adjuster (Clockwise) until you have a little free play then lock it again ...hopefully then all will be well ...Paul

This is what I do to undo the locking nut on my DT175MX Pete. Then use the correct flywheel puller. ...Paul
  4. Hey...tell us about the rosette then...
  5. To clean the tank of any loose rust or previous coatings, remove the fuel tap, fill 1/3 full of sharp gravel, like the stuff in fish tanks and redplace the cap and then shake it for all youre worth... testing the seals needs a: either a running engine or b: pressure testing equipment...see my post on pressure testing ...Paul

Not a great idea, vacuum taps were a step in the right direction, why would you want to do this...having problems with yours?

Dont need to take the engine out and apart, just do a compression test of the two engines.

+1, there are two filaments in the bulb, have a look with a magnifying glass you may see one broken, if you have a multimeter test them both you should get a reading from each solder point to the metal casing.

Hi Jeb Try unplugging the kill switch and the ignition key switch then check again. Try another plug, Check the resistance values of your magneto source coil = 420 ohms +- 10%............Brown to chassis Check the resistance of the magneto pulse coil = 12.4 ohms +- 10%...........White / Red to chassis Check the resistance values of the ignition coil, Primary = 1.0 ohm =- 15%, secondary = 5900 ohms +- 20% ...Paul

  21. Seems to me that you would be on the right track with what you are going to tackle in order to breathe some life into this bike. The most likely things to need sorting are Carb, thoroughly clean, ultrasonic if possible, carb cleaner and compressed air anyway but keep it away from any O rings fitted. Ignition does it spark, fingers crossed it will . Crankshaft seals, important for good running of a two stroke and very likely to need replacement. Check for a good fuel flow from the tank petcock, run fuel into a container to do this, there is likely to be a filter screen in the tank in the petcock or both.
  22. I very much doubt they have pillion carrying capacity too, ie footrests.

    Ehh?
  24. Sorry John, cant help with the specifics of IT ownership, but i'm sure these guys Here will be able to.
  25. The only similarity between an IT and the old DT is the name on the tank. The IT as you may well know is a pupose built enduro bike and would pee all over a DT with two gears still left so if youre extremely lucky to find one of these prepare yourself for some exciting rides. However not many were sold due to the specialist market and the increased price of these bikes so you may struggle to find one and also struggle to source parts. By all means search for one and good luck with it, the same applies to the suzuki PE. ...Paul
