  1. Now by my reckoning if the clutch inner drum had 25 slots then 5 slots would be the magic 72 degrees, so what's going on there then.
  2. Yeah I see what you mean, no matter what you cannot make a true 72 degree spacing with just 23 slots, Now it's bugging me too or are we missing something
  3. Do I hear the PAT..ter of tiny feet
  4. Not trying to put you off, just saying be careful and you wont go too far wrong. Try an artist paintbrush and some white spirit, operate the switch a few times and blow it dry.
  5. dont go too deep kishan something may spring out and be lost if youre not careful, try to clean the contact faces if you can see them
  6. The book says to arrange the plain plates approximately 70 degrees in succession from each other, note the word approx... so five plates times 70 degrees = 350 degrees, when you throw approx into the equation i'll give you 360 degrees and a balanced clutch. Welcome to the forum Nick ...Paul
  7. Greetings Nigel we only want whats best for you
  8. Haha funny intro Ian, welcome to the forum cobber, keep on coffin dodgin
  9. Greetings Brock, its an old and rare bike, might be a journey to find spare parts. ...Paul
  10. you may have to, I dont know what processes you will have to go through to get the registration document but I assume somewhere along the line you will need the engine and frame numbers. By the way my 2003 DTR has different engine and frame numbers, but my old DT175 has matching numbers so you may possibly have been mis-informed...(i dont know when they changed) Can you not see the frame number if you use a magnifying glass or something before you do anything like scraping and cleaning it
  11. Hmmm how was the frame number misplaced? it is stamped into the headstock and takes at least two powder coating jobs by complete muppets to remove, I know this to my cast as it happened to me.
  12. Hey welcome Liam thats a smart looking DTR I would suggest you sort out the legal registration issues before you do anything else to it, you need the numberplate and V5C, I take it the engine and frame numbers are present?
  13. Good job youre minted, could have picked them up for £12 at Stockport
  14. Welcome Bruce, we have a special place in our hearts here for DT175's A picture would be appropriate
  15. There will be nothing wrong with the secure connection as they lock together using that red palstic mech, and also can be screwed down to a mounting plate both sides, It would take dynamite to seperate them see the data sheet http://docs-europe.electrocomponents.com/webdocs/0dcb/0900766b80dcb152.pdf
  16. Its almost certainly the notch up on the needle, mine did that in this video was a notch up (wasnt revving cleanly), put it back to standard and it was much sweeter. Go up a jet size instead, mine has a 140 instead of 130 in it with needle as factory set.
  17. These any good drewpy ? http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=6988066 http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=6988063
  18. You really created something different
  19. 16's can only ride 50cc though like I said you can ride 125 at 17, altogether a much better solution especially with the law and the insurance company
  20. Homix you did the old XS proud, I love that bike you created. a real head turner
  21. i'm also looking into this Nick. Yambits do a 2.75 x 21 and a 4.00 x 18. The French seem to fit these 4.00 x 18's on their DTMX's. I had a word with TY Trials and the chap there (John) said he was looking into supplying some early in the new year, not sure about 3.5 x 18 though...I think they will be hard come by, might have to go with the 4.00 x 18's I think i will give TY trials a little time and ask again in a couple of weeks. Heidenau K32 are right pattern but again 4.0 x 18 for the back. http://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/motorcycle-tyres/HEIDENAU/K32/
  22. Thats a beast, looks good in red. 'Gas-up-lets-go' had one but has just sold it I think.
  23. Dont like the sound of that at all Paul, I suppose it could be lean, if it's that hot the spark plug would also glow and the engine may 'run on' a little when the key is switched off.
  24. Greetings Bill, you buying a branny then, post up a pic when you get you big cruiser. ...Paul
