no starter fluid isnt normal behaviour, you may have a lack of suction and this could be bad crank seals... a quick test of the seals without any special tools. Magneto side, remove cover start engine and spray WD40 through slots in flywheel aiming the jet toward the seal, listen for a change in tone or engine speed. Clutch side, place the transmission case breather pipe in a jar with some white spirit in, Start the engine and look for bubbles or for the fluid being drawn up the pipe. I wouldnt start casting doubt over the jet, and definitely do NOT fit one smaller than spec. If you cannot resist then fit a 140. Yor choke is imprinted so if you can find another I would get one they are common to many mikuni carbs of the type.

Electric hot air gun to start with, if thats not enough careful use of a gas torch perhaps? of course either may damage the o ring within but if needs be...

Get a feckin 12mm nut welded on it and use a socket...as well as heat. That way you will still have the use of it while you source another.

sounds like you have a dirty fuel tap on that thing, letting just a dribble through. ...so you run the carb dry and then when stopped slowly fills again?

Black Irish Art The National Art Gallery in Dublin , a husband and wife were staring at a portrait that had them completely baffled. The painting depicted 3 black men totally naked, sitting on a bench. Two of the figures had black penises, but strangely the one in the middle was equipped with a pink one. The curator of the gallery realized that they were having trouble interpreting the painting and offered his personal assessment. He went on for over half an hour explaining how it depicted the sexual emasculation of African Americans in a predominately white, patriarchal society. 'In fact', he pointed out, 'some serious critics believe that the pink penis also reflects the cultural and sociological oppression experienced by gay men in contemporary society'. After the curator left, an Irishman approached the couple and said, 'Would you like to know what the painting is really about?' 'Now why would you claim to be more of an expert than the curator of the gallery?', asked the couple. 'Because I am the artist who painted the picture,' he replied. 'In fact, there are no African Americans depicted at all. They're just three ordinary Irish coalminers. The guy in the middle went home for lunch.

OK if theres a window thats good, I was going of my earlier RD that didnt have one. You have to open the throttle to do the window alignment dont you? so idle can be done first or last it doesnt matter on that type. However with a carb without windows it must be done first.

I dont think there is a window on those carbs you have to do it by feel,

It's a twin carb non-linked isnt it 1: Set the idle srews (throttle stops). 2: Balance the carbs.
