Why did you change the carb? can you try the old one again which presumably worked well?
-
I once read of a 'test' and can see the sense in what they were saying. Using a cylinder type vacuum cleaner note the noise of the motor when running...then seal the end of the exhaust pipe and silencer (each in turn) to the suction tube. a blocked pipe would cause the motor speed to increase as can be witnessed by the higher pitched sound of the cleaner it is a test i have never needed to do.
-
so it has never successfully run with this piston am i correct?
-
I would be thinking the same as you about the exhaust...including the silencer! is it of a type that the baffle can be removed for cleaning?
-
Great news and thanks for the feedback

as for other differences between the US / European bikes European Speedo bracket 2A6-83519-00 2A6-83570-30 Speedometer assy 1V1-83536-00 Tachometer assy 401-25181-01 Wheel axle 90171-12005 Nut castle 2A6-25120-00-98 Brake shoe plate 1981 DT175H (American) Speedo bracket 3J0-83519-00-00 2N4-83570-A0-00 SPEEDOMETER ASSEMBLY 2X1-83540-F0-00 TACHOMETER ASSEMBLY 353-25381-00-00 AXLE, WHEEL 90171-10004-00 NUT, CASTLE 2N4-25016-01-98 BRAKE SHOE PLT ASSEMBLY It looks like the ignition switch on the US bike does not mount on the meter base so perhaps it mounts directly to the top yoke? of course this also has a different part number. There may be more i havent considered

Phil I will check those numbers for you but first I want to 'bounce' this idea off you. I know you have all the components for a good set of european forks but with cosmetic pitting only between the yokes bu good in the working area, and that you naturally dont want to lash out on Philpotts hard re-chroming just yet at around £150. so then i saw this on another forum, it is actually for a dt175 and i thought you may like to see it shall we call them decorative sleeves
-
numbers are often on the left side of the engine...how come you cant find it?
-
blocked pilot jet maybe ? you may find it improves with the choke on?...this would point to a carburation / jet issue.
-
Thats gorgeous you lucky b!"£$%^d look after her and take care
-
Try wemoto yambits and Fowlers of Bristol for spares...they all have websites
-
i make it a 1994 so it's the 'modern' style one...we never got that one here in europe most likely because our learner capacity has been 125cc for many years now.

whats the engine / frame number chris?
