most likely an m5 thread dont worry about the oil, the bike is cold...hasnt been run much...so its a bit premature to be doubting it, they ayways emit more oil / smoke briefly when cold
-
is there a drain screw at the bottom of the fork leg, on the outside of each leg? if so...get a long screw that fits and grind the end to a point then screw it in until it hits the taper spindle and 'nip it up' this may get a hold of the thing while you undo the bottom allen key
-
we never got that updated model here in Europe, by 1984 we had moved on to LC's so on the model we did get...there is no need for said T handle, we just unscrew the allen screw out of the bottom of each fork leg

There is a polished ring around the circumference of the flywheel rotor! is it rubbing on something...rubbing = friction = heat ? how did this rubbing occur?
-
yeah check the ohms value of the source coil and pulser coil and compare them to spec usually + - 10% specs in the workshop manual and sometimes in the parts book under 'Service Data' also the ignition coil (HT coil) can be checked against spec in the same way Yes the source coil is power and the pulse coil is trigger for the ignition is the HT cap to HT lead connection good? I'd try a new cap and cut 10mm from the end of the lead and re-make that connection...caps are usually 5k ohm but again that will be in the manual
-
n i'm not familiar with the bike ade, nor do I have a wiring diagram to refer to However, the bike is a single cylinder so it will only have one pulser coil...the other coil being the 'source coil'. is there a brown wire to the CDI? brown is often the switched live on these older bikes but not sure about yours the collection of wires to the stand, clutch and neutral will take care of the safety interlocks, the ignition will be cut if put in gear with the stand down...maybe not if the clutch is pulled but I dunno about that black wires are chassis or -ve and perhaps each of the engine coils have a black connection?

yeah barb maybe your spring has been strained it isnt normal in my experience to have to turn them more than about 1/2 turn as you say. The clutch plate springs should do most of it though so i'm wondering if there is something stiff or the cable not routed right as well?
