Have a look in your parts book at the kick starter mechanism, you'll see its quite a complex assembly with all manner of springs clips, spacers and a gear You're simply going to have to get that cover off and It's a good bet you'll see what the problem is It's easier to work on if you rempve the clutch...but not strictly necessary, it can be removed and re-fitted with the clutch in place but it's awkward that way...saves a clutch tab washer though at the end of the axle, you'll see it has a 'foot', check this comes to rest on a cast protrusion on the engine case when in the relaxed position. also check the spring end is in the correct place in the hole next to the outer casing screw hole (see pic)

try manchester xtreme Rick they will make the spokes and rebuild the wheels for a good price, I'd go for stainless un-polished spokes myself. Can you post up a picture? I'd like to see this bike

Back home, tired but had a great time. In the end I went on the DT yeah I know if I had followed my head I'd have taken the bandit but I took a chance and it paid off. We did a 150 mile rideout to Bridlington with a few stop en route, sorry we missed you tommy...next time you better sweet talk the mrs and come n camp with us. Who went? Blackhat 2wheels carlmt and a young lad from Dundee (scott) with his fantastic ss50 what a lovely little bike he's made for himself even if it is a 4 banger Nice surprise to see Pat there I didnt expect that Hope you all got back safe n sound

Airhead replied to rjw99's topic in Yamaha Workshop
Try a new sparkplug, get two, fit one and keep the other for spare, once upon a time we had manual chokes in cars too ya know -

is there any danger that enthusiastic use of that brake will bend the forks?
-
yeah when an an engine is idling it,s actually ticking over so adjust the tickover screw for the correct speed idle is resting here in UK or just plain lazy fender is mudguard but i'm sure you'd know that petcock its a petrol tap, that's not a gasoline faucet hood, that's something you wear on your head but our cars wear bonnets on theirs. Bonnet is also fancy headwear for girls oops I started this with yeah...what I meant to say was yes
